Chapter 6 - The academy

The academy according to the legends, was home to the gods when they still resided in the garden Kauoha. It's situated at the middle of Kauoha and is the second tallest structure next to the temple. The academy is only visible to the rest of the godsdom because of the lights that illuminates from it, to the rest of the godsdom, the academy is seen as a huge brightly lit building hidden between thick but transparent clouds situated at the edge of the land. But in real view it is in the middle center of the godsdom. The wall of the academy is made of pure crystals and precious stones that illuminates different colors at different time of the day, at dawn it illuminates orange pink with a hue of violet, at noon it illuminates greenish blue with a yellow hue, at dusk it illuminates golden brown with a splash of fuchsia at the edges, at night It's a mixture of white, yellow and sky blue that gives an ambiance of glory. During the cold season, the academy is completely hidden in thick gray clouds but is the warmest place in the entire godsdom. The academy occupies the largest land area (in comparison to a really large city), it has four gates situated at North, South, East and West, the north gate being the largest and main entrance, other gates are opened occasionally. The compound space is large enough to accommodate the entire godsdom with room enough that no one steps over the other, It's used for various training activity per segment, the atmosphere has a supernatural and alive feel about it. It's told that the creature that is the sigil was the gods pet and was left behind for a special assignment, a lot of rumors has spread over the years that the creature lives in the deepest parts of the academy and would come out when its time is due.

The became a training ground for aspiring soldiers and knights by the gods after the first slave challenged them for a chance to become a soldier and go up in rank. Due to his bravery and strength, a sculpture was erected for him in memory of what he stood for, it stands adjacent the head river that flows through out the land through different branches and channels.

The stbsk training commenced two days after they got here. The two days were for initiation processes and some ritual activities for their sanctification. They had to be sanctified and stick to the rules strictly else it could rain down lightening if one person forbidden by the gods wanders into a sacred part of the academy reserved for some selected few.

The training ground is divided into various sections, the weaponry, combat ground, element harnessing part, science study and so on.

Today, Diah and other stbsk are having a class in weaponry. Here, they are being taught a particular weapon, the elements used in making it, the reason for the shape, size and weight, the energy it possesses, how it can and should be used and so on, the weapon for today was spiral shaped daggers. At the 'how it should be used' stage, the instructor showed them how to throw it to hit the target.

"Again!" She yelled after their seventeenth or twentieth throw. "Remember, It's thrown with the hand but the main energy comes from the elbow and is transferred to the wrist where it is made light but directed and pushed with the strongest force to hit the target, a part of the energy is flown with the dagger but the complete energy from the elbow is felt when the dagger hits its target. With that in mind, hold still, take a deep breath, focus on the target. Remember, elbow to wrist. Now throw".

The student did and this time achieved a better result, they were happy.

"Again, hold still, deep breaths, chin upwards, eyes on the target, throw!". They threw the dagger again and achieved a much better-close to perfect result.

"Better than before, keep practising" she left them.

The class ended at noon and the stbsk went to have lunch. The dining hall was packed, Diah scanned the hall carefully to find a good spot to have lunch, as her eyes went from one corner of the hall to the other, she caught a hand waving, she rewind her eyes to see who it was and it turned out to be Sharna. She sighed and walked to her table.

"Hi!" Sharna greeted gleefully as Diah got close enough.

"Hi" Diah replied in an exhale tone.

"Sit with us."

Diah looked at the table and it had three boys and a girl she hasn't met. She shrugged and sat close to the girl, opposite Sharna and two of the boys.

"Guys meet Diah, Diah meet Ross, Snow, Briggard and Onyx." Sharna introduced them to each other.

"You look like the goddess that addressed us on our first day" commented Snow.

"Thanks" Diah said slowly.

"See, It's not just me" Sharna said and shrugged.

"Maybe she's a goddess but doesn't know it yet" Ross added.

Diah chuckled "Unfortunately there's no training to become a goddess, i would've accepted the challenge"

They all laughed at the joke.

"So, i heard the quests will commence after the blue moon and the gods would come down to watch." Briggard said in a low tone.

"Brig. It is wrong to spread false information hope you're aware" Onyx warned him but in a playful way.

"It's real guys, they said we might have a winter knight in our set. The monks saw it at the fountain, on the day of the bloodline test, a candidate's blood turned the fountain sapphire and that has never been seen before."

"How.... Who told you this lie?" Snow inquired.

"I swear It's not a lie. Besides, i have my sources. You'll see"

"Psssssh! Don't mind my brother, he's known for spreading tales." Onyx said.

"It's not."

"Ok. Who's the candidate then?" Diah asked.

"His identity is undisclosed but, he has the symbol of the gods pet on his thigh." Briggard tried to defend his point.

"Ooooh sounds like someone is describing his dream tattoo" Onyx teased him and they all laughed.

"Tomorrow is element harnessing class" Sharna switched the topic.

"I heard the first element we'll be learning is water" Snow added.

"Yeah, it being the most basic and generic element i guess." Diah commented.

"Someone knows her elements" Snow applauded Diah.

"Thanks" she blushed at Snow's comment.

"What's your favourite element?" Diah asked Snow.

"Hmm, i grew up in the dunes...earth. I aspire to become a desert soldier. For me It's not about the rank but the element. I love the sands, muds, give me earth any day, any time" she replied in a cool and relaxed tone.

"I want to shoot some fireballs out of my fists" Briggard excitedly chipped in his thoughts.

"Well i so desire to be an ice knight to keep this one in line" Onyx said referring to his brother Briggard. The group laughed.

"I want grass, so i can always be with nature and speak to the creatures and hopefully tame a beast" Sharna said in an affectionate tone.

"Any level is level to me, i just need to get my parents off my neck. I've always wanted to be a monk but they forbid it. I'm here cause they want me to be." Ross said in a painful and helpless tone.

"That's tough pretty boy" Sharna stroke his head.

Ross sighed. He truly is a pretty boy, he has an amazing jawline, broad shoulders, upright physique, curly hair, thin plum lips, a nose that fits perfectly in his face, green eyes with full lashes and thick brows.

"What about you Di." Snow asked, waking Diah from dissecting Ross cell by cell.

"Water has always been my favorite element." She shrugged.

"Cheers to everyone's dreams and aspirations and achieving it!" Snow made a toast raising her kelp drink. Others raised their cups too.

"Cheers!" They chorused.
