Chapter 10 - Discovery of a Cultivation Technique

Realizing that he had likely reincarnated into a world where supernatural powers existed, Lu Qing felt both joy and alarm.

He was joyful because, as someone born and raised in Huaxia, he carried a deep-rooted longing for a life of chivalry and swordsmanship—a world where heroes roamed and righteousness was upheld by strength.

But he was also alarmed.

A world where immense power could be concentrated in a single person—a world capable of producing extraordinary individuals—would naturally be far more dangerous than ordinary ones.

As the saying goes, "When heroes rise, laws are broken."

Once someone possesses overwhelming strength, it becomes easy to disregard rules and authority.

It wouldn't be surprising if a single moment of anger from the strong meant death for the weak.

And Lu Qing? He was currently the very definition of weak—powerless, vulnerable, with no ability to protect himself.

If he were to encounter some evil cultivator or rogue who wielded great strength, he might not even have a chance to struggle before being wiped out.

These thoughts triggered a strong sense of urgency in Lu Qing's heart.

He needed to rethink his plans.

Falling deep into thought again, he began to reassess his path forward.

The next morning, Lu Qing made a pot of shrimp porridge and then woke up Xiao Yan. The two siblings ate breakfast together.

"Big brother, the shrimp porridge is so tasty!" the little girl said, happily slurping down spoonfuls. A grain of porridge clung to her cheek as she looked up and beamed at him.

"As long as you like it. Slow down though—don't choke," Lu Qing said, gently wiping the grain from her face.

"Big brother, are we going fishing again today?" Xiao Yan asked.

"Not today. After we eat, we're going to visit Grandpa Chen."

Now that they had enough food at home for the time being, Lu Qing had no plans to go fishing again just yet.

Also, the small-fish fishing spot he used yesterday had been fished pretty thoroughly. It would probably need some time to replenish.

As for the other two fishing spots—his current makeshift rod wasn't sturdy enough to handle them.

Until he could make a better rod, he didn't plan to fish at those places.

Their household was still poor, and every resource was precious. He couldn't afford to waste anything.

"We're going to see Grandpa Chen?" Xiao Yan's eyes sparkled.

She had been asleep the day before and hadn't known that Dr. Chen and Grandpa Zhang had come by.

"Mm. Do you want to go?" Lu Qing asked.

Kids often feared doctors, so Lu Qing wasn't sure how Xiao Yan would respond.

"I want to!" she answered earnestly. "Grandpa Chen is really nice. He cured you, and I haven't even thanked him yet!"

Lu Qing smiled. "That's right—we'll go thank him together."

After finishing breakfast, Lu Qing locked the door and left with Xiao Yan.

Dr. Chen didn't live in the village but rather halfway up a small mountain behind it.

As Lu Qing and Xiao Yan made their way along the path, a small, secluded courtyard gradually came into view, nestled halfway up the slope. The place had a tranquil and serene atmosphere.

When they reached halfway up the mountain, Lu Qing spotted someone moving outside the courtyard. He was about to call out, but stopped himself.

He gently tugged Xiao Yan's hand and gestured for her to stay quiet.

He'd realized that Dr. Chen seemed to be in the middle of something important.

Dr. Chen was practicing a form of martial arts.

Lu Qing couldn't recognize what kind it was, but to him, it looked a lot like the tai chi that elderly people practiced in public parks in his past life.

The movements were slow and deliberate, seemingly gentle and soft.

But after watching for a moment, Lu Qing began to notice something different.

Although the motions appeared relaxed, each movement carried an inner strength and rhythm. The flow was smooth, powerful, and elegant.

Just as Lu Qing became captivated by the movements, a line of text suddenly popped up in his vision:

[Cultivation technique detected. Simulate?]

Huh?

Lu Qing's pupils shrank instantly.

His ability… could even do this?

Looking at Dr. Chen still immersed in his routine, Lu Qing tried to calm his pounding heart and silently selected "yes" in his mind.

[Simulation initiated. Current progress: 1%, 2%, 3%...]

Watching the progress bar increase in his vision, Lu Qing's heart beat even faster.

He hadn't expected that his ability could simulate other people's cultivation techniques.

Just yesterday, he had been worrying about not having access to any methods of cultivation.

Now it was like the heavens had handed him a pillow just as he was feeling sleepy.

He locked his gaze on Dr. Chen's every move while keeping an eye on the simulation progress.

[48%, 49%, 50%...]

When it reached 50%, the progress suddenly stopped—and the line of text disappeared.

Looking over, Lu Qing realized Dr. Chen had just finished his routine.

He sighed in disappointment.

If only he had come a bit earlier, he might've been able to simulate the full set of movements.

Getting stuck at 50% left him feeling uneasy.

Still, Lu Qing quickly adjusted his mindset.

Just discovering this new function of his ability was already a huge win.

As for Dr. Chen's cultivation technique—there would be future opportunities. No need to rush.

Dr. Chen completed his final movement, retracted his energy, and then looked toward Lu Qing and Xiao Yan.

In truth, he had noticed them a while ago.

But morning training was part of his daily routine, so he hadn't stopped.

"You're here. Have you eaten yet?" Dr. Chen asked warmly.

"Yes, we have," Lu Qing replied respectfully.

Xiao Yan walked up and took the old doctor's hand. "Grandpa Chen, thank you for curing my brother!"

"Hehe, little one, if anyone deserves thanks, it's you. If you hadn't cried so loudly that day, I wouldn't have gone in to check."

Dr. Chen patted her head affectionately.

That day, he had been wandering near the village and happened to hear Xiao Yan crying. Feeling pity, he went inside to check and discovered how severe Lu Qing's condition was.

"Why thank me? It was you who cured big brother!" Xiao Yan said, confused.

"It wasn't entirely my doing. Your brother recovered because fate smiled on him," Dr. Chen sighed.

Yesterday, he had returned home and searched through several medical books, but still couldn't find any references to Lu Qing's condition.

In the end, he could only chalk it up to luck—a blessed man spared by destiny.

Xiao Yan didn't really understand and just nodded in confusion.

Only now did Lu Qing realize that it was Xiao Yan's cries that had led Dr. Chen to him.

He looked at her fondly and bowed deeply once again to Dr. Chen. "Thank you, Grandfather Chen, for saving my life."

"You… sigh, enough, enough."

Dr. Chen waved his hand, choosing not to explain further.

Even if he did, Lu Qing and Xiao Yan would still believe he was the one who cured the illness.

So what was the point of arguing?

"Grandpa Chen, what were you doing just now—were you doing martial arts?" Xiao Yan asked innocently.

Lu Qing also turned his attention to the old doctor.
