Chapter 14 - A Reckless Decision

"You…" Warden Anna puffed her cheeks. "I'm not blind, you know?? Look at these muscles and this explosive power just waiting to be let loose! You're at least in the Venation Plane, maybe even higher than that!"

'Good guess.'

Nylon turned away from the grumbling Anna, his sights set on Brad. He was only in the Collection Plane, but he was one of the few Slaves with an actual blood grudge against him. If given the chance, Brad would absolutely murder him or throw him under the bus.

If ascending up the ladder of the North Sea Family was in Nylon's cards, then tying up any loose ends that could screw him over was a necessity.

There was also an additional benefit to what was about to happen…

"Anna," he said seriously, demanding her full attention. "What would happen if I were to make someone disappear?"

"...You mean, like open execution??" Warden Anna's big bright eyes widened. "Well, if you're going for your second kill, the North Sea Investigators will turn their focus back to you. If you were to kill openly right now, then your previous dodging of allegations concerning Warden Sith's death will be brought back to stand. Death penalty for you is highly likely."

"But the Investigators will be attracted?" asked Nylon, confusing Anna even more.

"I mean… yeah… But wait, what precisely are you plannin—"

Before Anna could finish her question, Nylon had blurred forward. He was akin to an unleashed arrow of fire, seemingly nothing capable of stopping his linear advance.

"So as I was sayin—" Brad was embroiled in a conversation among other Slaves when the heat suddenly shot up. Yet, just as the first bead of sweat started to form on his forehead, it was evaporated by a hand that engulfed his face.

"Burn."

With this simple word, Brad's fate was decided. His head melted, his death instant.

Screams echoed, but Nylon's heart was resolute. Brad never got rid of his intent to kill and was surrounded by an aura of evil—if Nylon hadn't killed him today, then someone else surely would have someday.

It's just that Nylon wasn't willing to wait until that day came around…

"Y-Y-You…" Warden Anna was stuttering, partly astonished by his insane level of speed surpassing her own, but mostly by this kid's sheer insanity!

You had to have something seriously wrong with your head if you were publicly killing people as a slave!

"Oh no, the Family Investigators…!" They'd be here within minutes, and unless Anna wanted to see that pretty face of her favorite slave smeared across the ground, she had to do something.

"Come with me, you idiot!" Anna had already reached Nylon and was now pulling on his arm. However, he didn't budge even the slightest bit. She kept on trying to move him, even using her Juggernaut Plane strength, but to no avail.

"How can you be this powerful!?" she asked, gasping for breath. "Weren't you supposed to be talentless and cultivationless!? You damn sneaky lying brat!"

Nylon paid no heed to Anna. His attention was wholly focused on the large auras pulsating on the horizon. They belonged to experts of at least the 6th Plane, Invincible, and were racing toward the North Sea Mines as we speak.

"You better get going," Nylon said to Anna without turning his head. "If I want to escape my fate, I need to take risks. You don't need to be here for one of them."

Anna stared at his flawless side-view, her thoughts a mess. But when the powerful auras came within a dangerous range, she was forced to make a decision.

Her grip on Nylon loosened.

"Good, now hurry along—"

*Umpff!*

Nylon's eyes gleamed in confusion. For the first time ever, he looked Anna straight in the eyes. She wore an expression torn between bravery and nervousness while holding onto him tighter than ever before.

"...What are you doing…?"

"I-Isn't it obvious?" Anna stammered, shaking like a leaf. "If I'm here, then there's still a possibility that you can be saved. As long as I persuade the Investigators, surely they will—"

"Are you stupid or what?" asked Nylon.

Anna's fright was replaced with a poutiness. "How rude! I'm doing this for you, you know!?"

"I know." Nylon returned his gaze back to the approaching presences. "And that's why I called you stupid."

"Y-You…!"

Although Nylon acted indifferent to her decision, if one were looking under the lens of a microscope, they'd see the smallest of smiles gracing his ungodly features.

As for what he was thinking right now, possibly only God knew.
