Chapter 2 - You are not real!

Lydia's POV

I was still in shock, staring at her, too afraid to move as she embraced me again. However, my body remained stiff. Has my sister become a monster? Or maybe she's possessed by a demon? I thought, unable to process the unusual glow in her eyes. Memories of novels I'd read as a child about people with glowing eyes and strange powers.

Sensing my unease, Laura looked at me again. This time, her eyes appeared normal, no longer glowing.

"Sister, I'm sorry for startling you," Laura said quickly, offering a guilty smile. "My wolf was just happy," she added, her tone light as she walked to the table and uncovered the meal she had brought.

"Wolf…?" I blurted out, unable to hide my surprise. She turned around and nodded.

"Yes, sister. She's happy that you're safe."

I placed my hand on my head, trying to make sense of it all. "Stop spouting nonsense," I scolded, frustration lacing my voice. "How the hell did your eyes glow like that? Are you possessed or something?"

"She's not possessed, Lydia," a strange but calm voice said. I looked around, searching for the source."Am I going insane?" I asked myself aloud. "No, you're not, Lydia. I'm your wolf, Delia," the voice replied softly.

I screamed and clutched my head. "Get out of my head!" I shouted, shaking my head as though I could get rid of the voice .

"Lydia, calm down…" the voice spoke again, its tone soothing, but I wasn't ready to accept this bizarre reality.

"Get out of my head!" I screamed once more, tears streaming down my cheeks.

Hearing my cries, the woman who had called herself my mother rushed into the room and held my hands tightly. I looked at her, observing her worried expression, She hugged me tightly and patted my back, trying to calm me.

"It's okay, Lydia. Mother's got you," she said softly, her voice full of reassurance."Mother… I'm scared," I whispered, my voice trembling.

"Don't be scared. Mother is here," she said gently. Her words seemed to calm my tensed mind, and a wave of drowsiness washed over me. Before I knew it, my eyelids grew heavy, and I drifted into a deep sleep.

***

I woke up after dreaming about my past life. Faintly, I heard the voice in my head speak again: " Lydia you reincarnated Into my world ."

I sat up immediately, "Reincarnated?" I muttered, staring at my teenage body.

"Why am I here?" I asked aloud, desperate for answers.

To my shock, the voice in my head replied, "You ended your past life because of betrayal. But the Moon Goddess decided to give you another chance to live among her race."

"Moon Goddess? Am I in a fairytale?" I questioned, my mind in confusion. There was silence in my head for a moment before I heard a low chuckle. "No, Lydia, you're in a real world of werewolves and witches," the voice said smoothly.

"That's strange," I muttered, laying back on the bed. Why am I even talking to this strange voice inside me? I thought, shaking my head.

"You can't resist me, Lydia," the voice responded calmly. "I'm not harmful. I'm your wolf."

"Stop it!" I snapped. "Only werewolves in folktales have wolves, and I'm not one. I'm a human girl born into a human family!" I defended myself , trying to deny the absurdity of it all.

A soft laugh echoed in my mind. "Stop daydreaming, Lydia. You are a werewolf now. Like I said, you've reincarnated into our world."

"In my world, you're not real!" I retorted,

"Lydia," the voice said more firmly, "you have to believe this reality and accept your fate as a werewolf. Denying it won't change anything."

I closed my eyes, the weight of this revelation crashing over me. "This is impossible," I whispered.

"I'd also advise you," the voice continued gently, " don't make your family worry. They've already been through alot."

I opened my eyes again, letting out a shaky sigh. "Delia, right?" I asked in a low voice.

"Yes, I'm Delia, your wolf," she replied and continued "I'd love for you to think of me as part of you, not as a stranger. It hurts me when you do," she said softly.

Her words made me laugh in disbelief. A voice in my head was asking for my trust? It all felt absurd. "Delia I want you to stop talking to me," I said firmly, my voice tinged with frustration. "It makes me feel like I'm losing my mind."

After saying that I walked out of the room, needing a moment to free my mind .

As I stepped out, I found myself in front of an old wooden staircase leading downstairs. The faint creaks of the steps followed me as I descended. Reaching the bottom, I spotted the woman from before—the one who called herself my mother.

She turned around sensing my presence. Her face lit up with a smile. "Lydia? You're awake," she said warmly, quickly standing up from her seat.

Before I could respond, she reached for my hands, guiding me to sit where she had been. She settled close beside me and my thoughts drifted to my father—the one constant in my life before all of this. I hadn't seen him since waking up in this strange world. Growing up, it was always my father, my little sister, and me. My mother... she had died giving birth to my sister. My father never stopped missing her, often reminiscing about the love they shared.

"Mother..." I started, my voice barely above a whisper, my hesitation evident.

"Yes? Say it. I'm listening," she encouraged gently.

"Where's Father?" I finally asked.

Her expression changed immediately, her face falling into sadness.tears welled in her eyes.

"I'm so sorry, Lydia," she said softly, her voice breaking. "He couldn't make it."

Her words hit me like a storm, leaving me speechless. The room grew eerily quiet, and the weight of her revelation pressed heavily on my chest.
