Eleanor's POV
My father cursed under his breath, a low and venomous sound. "Lose them," he snapped at the driver. "Now."
The car surged forward, picking up speed. My father's voice rose, filled with contempt. "Those pathetic founding families. They couldn't afford what they wanted at the auction, so now they think they can just take it by force? Stupid. Absolutely stupid. To pull something like this out in the open?" He laughed, but there was no humor in it. "They've handed me the perfect excuse. I'll make sure they suffer for this. Every last one of those foolish young adults will regret ever stepping foot near my convoy."
I said nothing. I kept my eyes fixed on the rear window, watching the two sleek vehicles weave through traffic behind us. They were gaining. Getting closer.
Then more headlights appeared. Several cars, flanking from side streets, falling into formation behind Mira and Roxy.
My father's lips curled into a satisfied smile. "Finally. My entourage has arrived."
