CHAPTER 51
KEITH'S POV
"Hi", she said, I wasn't expecting her to be at my house. I thought we were back to strangers.
"..."
"I just wanted to know why you've been avoiding me"
"I haven't been avoiding you. I just decided to do what you said"
"And what is that?"
"Us going back to strangers after the project"
"I didn't mean that"
"You did"
"Maybe I did but I don't want us to be strangers anymore"
"And why is that? You said you wanted space and I respect your decision so please, leave"
"I won't. Kay, I'm sorry, for everything. I didn't want us to continue with what we have because I was scared. I was scared that you'll betray me just as Nolan did. I was scared Hailey was gonna come between us. I was scared.....of falling in love with you. I thought maybe setting up boundaries would be a good idea but it made me realize how much I like you"
"..."
" I know that nothing I've said can justify what I've done but I want you to forgive me and maybe we could be together. I can't deny the feelings anymore. I can't deny the sparks. I love you", I said and stood on my toes to kiss him.
I didn't kiss me back, instead I moved back.
" Chloe, just go home", I said.
I didn't know what else to say.
"What?"
"Just go home. You don't know what you're saying. You're saying all these because you're trying to forget Nolan", I said and shut the door.
What does she want?
She made it clear to me that we were gonna go back to being strangers after the project and I knew I was just a distraction from Nolan.
Maybe she wanted to use me to get over him.....
But when she said she loves me, I saw sincerity in her eyes, she didn't look like she was just saying. She looked like she meant it.
Maybe I'm assuming things.....
CHLOE'S POV
Its been 3 whole days and I haven't stepped out of the house. I haven't even stepped out of my room. Jess just brings in snacks and drinks for me.
What Keith said kept repeating in my head.
Why would he say I wasn't over Nolan?
I screwed up big time.
Thankfully, there won't be school for the whole week. I've really not been myself.
I eat less, sleep less and now I think in down with a fever.
Jess isn't at home, she left to go see her wedding planner with Matt so I'm home alone.
"You should really take it easy on yourself", Jess said on facetime with me
"Why should I? I messed up"
"You made a mistake and I'm sure he'll forgive you"
"What if he doesn't want me?"
"Then you move on"
"I'm not sure I can just move on", I said coughing.
" I'm here to help you get through it"
" Thanks sis"
" Yeah, I just wish I could come back and help you"
" I'll be fine. Because I have fever, that doesn't mean I'm an invalid", I said shivering under my duvet.
" Are you sure you don't need help?"
" I'll...be...fine.....atchewww", I sneezed.
" Ok, talk to you later?"
" Yeah", I ended the call and curled myself under the covers.
I heard a knock on my room door and then Keith came in. I froze....
Am I hallucinating?
" Hey"
" Hi"
" I heard you were sick"
" Who told you?"
" Jess, she called and said you need help"
" I told her I was fine"
" Clearly, you aren't. Just let me help you"
" I'm sorry"
" For what?"
" Everything that happened between us "
" It's not your fault"
" It is. I let my insecurities get the best of me. I was just trying to protect myself and ended up losing you"
" You didn't loose me. I'll be here, no matter what"
" Really?"
" Yes, really. I'm still in love with you"
" I love you too Kay, I just didn't realize it sooner"
" It's fine "
" Can I ask you a question?"
" Sure"
" Why didn't you tell me that we made out after the founder's day ball?"
" Because I didn't want you to think I wanted to take advantage of you"
I wouldn't have thought that. I was the one who wanted us to have sex that night. I guess the alcohol really did something to me"
" It's not your fault, blame it on the alcohol"
" Do you forgive me?"
" I don't hold a grudge. Come here", he said, hugging me and I held him tight, inhaling his cologne. I missed this....
" You can let go of me now", he joked while I got as red as a tomato.
" What happens now?", I asked.
I wouldn't want us to go back to being friends with benefits.
" I'm gonna pop the question. Chloe, will you be my girlfriend?"
" Yes", I said and he claimed my lips.
