Chapter 6: Golden Brilliance.... Lost(1) (Edited)

Darkness.

Sol thrashed against invisible arms, breath catching as the world collapsed into shadow. He couldn't scream—the air was thick, muffled, like being submerged in liquid glass. The wall had swallowed him whole.

And now… silence.

Then, a spark of light.

A single blue rune flared to life against the pitch, revealing a narrow stone corridor. He turned, heart pounding—and froze.

"Lora?"

She stood before him, cloaked in black, face pale beneath the soft flicker of the rune's glow. The fire from the courtyard was gone. Only urgency remained in her golden eyes.

" Sol, we need to leave," her voice broke through the silence, making his mind pause.

" Leave? Leave where? And where is this place? What's going on?" He immediately bombarded her with every single question that popped up in his head.

" There's no time to explain! We need to leave now!" She said, as she grabbed his hand and tried to pull him away.

But he stood still, not taking an inch forward.

" What are you doing? Stop standing there and follow me!" Lora said, a wave of frusturation brewing in her heart.

" Follow you? I can't follow you? I don't even know where I am? Look Lora, if this is about my parents accepting you as my wife, then don't worry, I promise you that they will. I love you, and so they must love you too. There's no need to elope," he said, taking a step closer to her and placing his palm on her cheek, stroking it gently.

But Lora immediately grabbed his hand and placed them off her face. She looked at him straight in his eyes, her blue irises staring deeply into his golden eyes.

" Sol," she said, shaking her head," that's not why. we...we need to leave. We cannot stay in this place any longer, it's too dangerous,"

Solarien smiled as he stared deeper into her eyes, his love sparkling in his golden eyes, as he felt he suddenly understood what she meant," Lora, my love. Nothing shall happen to me. You must have seen the death symbol. But do not fret, mother and father would soon be home in a few days, by then, no one would dare to harm me," he said, thinking that she had noticed the death symbol on his window and so feared for his life.

He felt touched. She had always acted like she didn't like him, even though he knew she did, but she never really expressed it.

Now, seeing the concern on her face made his love for her become even deeper.

" Symbol? What symbol?" Lora asked, her perfectly shaped eyebrows furrowing in confusion.

Seeing the confusion in her eyes, Sol's expression of care immediately faded, as it too was replaced by confusion," you mean to tell me that you know of nothing about the death symbol on my window?"

She shook her head," a death symbol? And you didn't even tell me Sol?" She said, anger revealing on her pale face.

How could he have seen a death symbol and still kept quiet about it? If not for her overhearing the Consort and servant speaking ill of the Royal family and learning of their plot, she wouldn't have known about it.

" You really do not know? Then why ask me to leave and say that the palace is dangerous?" He exclaimed, his frown deepening.

" Wait, if there truly is a death symbol on your window then it means it's today. It means it's happening right now!" She exclaimed, her voice filled with fear and alarm.

" What? What is happening? Lora speak clearly!" He was beginning to get annoyed. First she pulled him into this strange and mysterious secret passageway, then she called the palace dangerous, and now she speaking in tongues, what was he going to do?

Slump!

" I failed!" Lora slumped onto the ground, tears streaming down her eyes.

" Lora what is wrong with you?!" He exclaimed, as he bent down to look at her straight.

" Solarien Althurion, I have failed you and your family. I have failed the kingdom and broken my oath!" She said, her voice beginning to become muffled by the sound of sorrow and tears.

" My love please speak to me. Your tears are making me feel like a villian!" He said, embracing her in a hug.

" Sob~ Sol, you need to leave the palace. Consort Henry has been scheming against you and your family. He has sent multiple Adepts to fight against your parents, and even the God Alzuras has taken his side!" She said, revealing everything to him in an instant.

" Blasphemy!" Sol exclaimed, releasing himself from her embrace.

" How dare you say such things Lora!" Sol said, his voice, a mix of anger and sorrow.

" I know you hate my uncle, but do you need to bring in the name of the God that has granted us his grace. The God that has stood by our side from the very first king? How dare you Lora?!" Sol was now enraged, and he immediately turned his back on her.

" I shall see you later after meeting with my uncle. I do not want to hear such words about him, nor god Alzuras ever again from you Lora," he then touched the surface of the wall, and soon an opening was revealed. And opening back to the hallway in front of his room

" Sol, please wait!" Lora exclaimed, as she stood up from the ground and grabbed his hands.

" Don't leave me. Please,"

" I will never leave you, but please don't say such anymore. I still need to see my uncle.," he said. Then he took a step, then stopped, taking a glance back at her, hesitation laced on his face, but then he sighed and stepped out of the hole in the wall, and walked out.

Leaving Lora alone in the dark secret passageway, tears of sadness streaming down her eyes.

But then she heard footsteps and she immediately closed the hole with the picture and listened closely.

" Your highness, there you are. The Consort has been waiting for you," said an unfamiliar voice.

" I'm sorry, I had something to take care of. But now I'm free and heading over there Theadon, would you like to join me?"

" I wouldn't dare, your grace, I am not worthy enough to sit with someone that is out of this world, lest I want a death wish, " Theadon said, sounding like he was praising him, but secretly telling him he was not a part of their world anymore. But Sol didn't notice it and just brushed it off as a servant praising him.

" nonsense Theadon, you're like an uncle to me. Come on, let us leave," Sol exclaimed, as he walked forward.

Back in the passageway, Lora stopped crying after she heard Sol's footsteps fade away as he chatted with Theadon while heading over to meet Henry.

" No matter what my love. I won't let you die. At the moment you're too naive, so I must protect you," she said, her voice laced with determination and resolution.
