All these years, the Alien Teens never seen anything like this. But, due to Magneto manipulating the magnetic field on this level, it's like he awakened some kind of sense he never knew he even had.
Lodestars had always been able to see his own magnetic waves. Always appeared like green circular pulses that flowed from his pincers. Now, he was seeing magnetic waves around everything.
Moments like this really reminded the Young Hero that he's barely scratched the surface of what his aliens are really capable of.
Putting his focus back in the task, Lodestar reached out to the magnetic strings that had gathered underneath Magneto, his power turning those strings from purple to green.
The Alien Avenger then grabbed a hold of those strings and tugged hard.
Magneto suddenly stumbled in the air. The magnetic field he used to keep him airborne suddenly vanished, causing him to lose his grip on the two War Heroes. The Master of Magnetism quickly commanded the magnetic field to catch him.
That certainly caught him off guard. All his years and he's never had his control faulter like that. Almost as it someone else took control of his magnetic field.
Once he was stable, Magneto looked down to see Captain America and Wolverine rising into the air and floating over to another rooftop. Where their saviour was standing.
Magnetos eyes narrowed in rage as he saw the familiar form. The one who attacked and humiliated him.
Lodestar glared at the Master of Magnetism as he continued to focus his power to manipulate the magnetic field.
The Alien Avenger could feel the pressure rising as the magnetic waves flowed around Magneto like a violent storm.
"You." He snarled, venom dripping from his words. "I have been waiting patiently for a long time, boy. Now I will finally take my revenge." Magneto declared.
Lodestar's eyes narrowed as his mouth cringed. "I don't care about your stupid grudge, Magneto. I'm here to do one thing and you're in my way."
The Master of Magnetism felt his rage explode as he aimed his hands at the Alien. "Insolent wretch! I will teach you to respect your superior!"
He then raised his hands once more, purple waves flowed around his hands. All around him, metal debris, cars, poles, structural beams and many others floated into the air.
"You attacked me in my home. In front of my child. Now you will know my full fury." The Mutant Villain growled as he prepared his attack.
Lodestar flinched at the mention of his daughter. After all this time, he never forgot her. The fear in her eyes when she saw him defeat her father right in front of her.
In her eyes he was a monster. But that's in the past. He can't change it. Right now, the has to face the monster that's attacking his family.
"You attacked my city. Threatened my friends. Now you're trying to start a war that will get billions killed! And you're still WASTING MY TIME!" Lodestar blasted back.
Magneto roared as he threw his hands forward, and a massive surge of metal blasted forth. Like a tidal wave of metallic shards that threatened to tear him apart.
Lodestar quickly responded and created a forcefield of magnetic energy around him, Wolverine and Captain America.
The metal wave crashed into him, with the Alien Avenger grunting to hold back the tide. The pressure was unreal as he struggled to hold up his defence. He could feel it, every last piece of metal that was crushing him. The field that pounded against his own, the individual shards, the different metals that composed this tide.
Being surrounded by all this metal, enveloped by Magnetos power. Lodestar felt a similar sensation to being underwater. He could feel the metal all around him. The Magnetic field that flowed with it. It was like a form of sensory deprivation. The more metal surrounded him, the more his senses became aware of everything around him. Almost like he could feel the very atoms within the metal, like each one had their own little magnetic field.
There was so much more to magnetism than he realised.
But he couldn't dwell on this for long. The pressure was building, and he couldn't hold it back much longer.
Concentrating, Lodestar lowered one claw, while keeping the other high and strong to keep the field up. Then he focused and spread his magnetic waves to the ground beneath them and the ground cracked as metal pipes and wires burst from the ground and opened a hole large enough for them all to fit through.
The Super Soldier and Clawed Mutant both stared at the hole before glancing back at Lodestar.
"Get in. Now!" Lodestar snapped at them as he struggled. His sharp tone registering in the elderly gentlemen as they jumped down the hole with Lodestar following.
He dropped his shield the moment they cleared the roof and the metal wave collapsed in crushing the area under tons of steel and iron.
The three had a momentary chance to catch their breath. Lodestar in a metaphorical sense, as he technically didn't need to breath, but panted out of habit.
"Glad you could finally join us, kid." Wolverine commented as he stood up. "Took ya long enough."
Lodestar chuckled as he got to his feet. Putting on a cocky act. "Sorry about that. Rescuing Jean twice in one day, really took it out of me."
Upon hearing her name, Wolverines face grew serious. "Is she safe?"
"Long story." Came the Teens response, which did not ease his worry. "But hopefully Emma and Laura can handle things until I get back."
Wolverine snarled as his fists clenched and his claws shot out. "Frost! You left Jean and Laura alone with her!"
The Alien Teen flinched and mentally berated himself for being so casual about it. Of course, Logan wouldn't know about the truth about Emma. Being on the end of an angry Wolverine was enough to make anyone back up in fear.
Unless you're Captain America, who stood in between Lodestar and Wolverine, his shield raised as he glared at Gruff Mutant.
"Stand down, Howlett!" Cap ordered. "Let Ben finish explaining before jumping to conclusions."
"Shove it, Boy Scout!" Logan countered holding his claws up. "And stop callin me that!"
"Howlett?" Lodestar asked, a little confused. The way Cap talked to him; it was almost like he already knew Wolverine. He knew the Clawed Mutant had memory problems, but it never occurred that he might be that old.
Wolverine glared at Cap, snarling like a wild animal. Caps glare did not faulter, nor did he budge from his position between him and Ben.
Eventually, Wolverine let out a deep sigh and retracted his claws.
"Ok kid. Start talking." He said as he leaned against the wall. Waiting for the Alien Avenger to regale him with his explanation.
Captain America stepped to one side and nodded to Lodestar to star talking. The Alien Teen composed himself and began giving them the full recap.
For the third time in less than a year, the streets of New York City had become a war zone.
Sentinels marched through the streets, their titan bodies shaking the earth with each step as their soulless eyes scanned for any signs of their targets.
One Sentinel marched down a street, its optics scanning for any targets. Movement caught its attention as it turned to track it. However, the scanners came up empty. It's advanced sensors couldn't detect anything.
Just as it turned away to continue its search. An energy spike appeared on its radar and the giant machine turned back to face it. Only for a pair of energy daggers to take out both optics, blinding the machine.
The Metal Giant stumbled around, disoriented as it tried to adjust its systems to compensate for its visuals going down.
However, it wouldn't get the chance as Black Panther leaped onto the machine from his perch and used his Vibranium claws to slash apart the Machines thick armor and get to the weak circuitry and wires underneath.
A quick succession of slashes and the Sentinel is disabled and fell to the ground in a heap. With Black Panther leaping off as it fell and landed on the side of a building, his claws digging into the concrete to prevent him from falling.
Climbing back to the top, the Wakandan King proceeded to hunt for his next target. His heightened senses, combined with the advanced tech in his suit made it easy to locate the next Sentinel. Only a few blocks over from his current location. With speed and precision of a cat, the Black Panther manoeuvred through the urban jungle before finally arriving at his destination.
The Sentinel marched down the street. His suit hiding him from the Metal Giants sensors. He readied himself for another ambush when he felt the winds change.
To most people, they'd hardly notice the difference at first. But to the Wakandan King, his heightened senses allowed him to easily notice the sudden chance in air pressure as the winds started to pick up, growing more powerful until it became obvious to all as a powerful gust of wind blasted through the streets.
Suddenly, a flash of lightning drew Panther's attention as he looked up. He was expecting to see Thor above him but, to his surprise, he saw a woman. Dressed in black clothing with gold trimming. But what caught his eye was her hair, white as the purest snow and flowed like mist through the valleys.
As she drew closer to the ground, Black Panther got a better look at her face and his eyes widened. Like the burst of a dam, memories that he had not visited in many years returned to him in force.
She was older than he remembered, understandable given how long it had been, but there was no mistaking that face, those eyes, that hair. Of all the people he's met in his lifetime, she was the one he could never truly forget.
Storm glared at the machine as she raised her hands and commanded the elements. The clouds roared in response to her call and unleashed the might of the heavens as a powerful bolt of lightning shot from the clouds and struck the Sentinel right in the chest. The power of the bolt scorched the metal and fried the Machine from the inside out.
A groan escaped the Soulless Metal Giant as it collapsed to the ground with a loud crash. Completely offline.
The Weather Witch lowered her arms as she panted from her fatigue. From saving the bridges to returning to the battle, her stamina was very low. Even summoning lighting, which is normally child's play for her, had become a tremendous effort. She would need to rest before she could even attempt a second attack.
She was so tired that her senses had been dulled to the point that she'd let her guard down as a purple beam shot out and struck her in the back.
Storm screamed in pain as she fell to the ground, landing on the roof of a car, denting it. Her body, numb and in pain. The Mistress of the Elements could barely keep her eyes open as she felt the vibrations of the Sentinel approaching her.
The Metal Titan stomped down the street, its hand smoking from where it fired its beam. Its cold eyes focused on her as it loomed above her.
A whirring sound is heard as its chest started to glow, indicating it charging up its chest cannon.
Storm could only watch helplessly as the Machine prepared to finish her off.
Suddenly, a dark figure leaped down from out of nowhere and stood between her and the Sentinel, just as it fired.
The purple beam blasted right at them; the intensity of the light forced Storm to close her eyes. Just barely catching a glimpse of the dark figure crossing his arms in front of him as if to shield her from the energy beam.
Light overtook her vision, even with her eyes closed. But it was not the end. She could still feel life in her body as the light died down.
Groggily she opened her eyes and lifted her head to see the Black Panther standing over her. His suit smoking from the power of the Sentinels energy beam, but he was completely unharmed.
Before the Machine could even react to this new development, Panther drew a pair of Vibranium daggers from his suit. The purple blades glowed with energy as he joined the daggers at the hilts. The daggers glowed brighter as they expanded into a long energy spear.
The Wakandan King proceeded to hurl the Vibranium spear like a javelin that soared through the air and struck the machine, right in its cold metal heart.
The spear tore through the metal with ease and a series of explosions erupted through the Sentinel before it was consumed by fire and fell to the ground.
Black Panther then turned to Storm as he reaches down to her with a kind and gentle look in his eyes.
"Are you alright, Ororo?" He asked her.
Storm jolted at the sound of her name. How did he know it?
Hesitantly, she took his hand. His touch was soft and warm, yet very familiar to her, somehow.
As she rose to her feet and looked at him clearly. Her confusion and curiosity did not ease.
"Who are you?" She asked as the wracked her brain trying to remember any details that would clue her into his identity.
Panther chuckled as she raised her eyebrow at him. "I am not surprised to have forgotten. It has been many years. But rest assured, I never once forgot you."
He then reached up and removed his cowl, revealing his face to her.
"My Hadari Yao."
Her eyes widened in shock. That name. Only one person ever called her that. And looking into his eyes. She remembered looking into them, many years ago. It was a time shed all bust assumed to be a dream.
She reached her hand up slowly, as if scared to wake up from this dream and her hand caressed his cheek. He leaned into her touch as he smiled, to which she returned.
"My Prince." She whispered to him. Her emotions overflowing making it hard to form words, but he heard her all the same.
T'Challa reached up and took her hand in his. "It is King now. A lot has changed since we last met."
"I can see that." Storm replied as she looked at the man standing before her. "Though, some things have not."
The Wakandan King tilted his head in confusion as the Weather Witch gave him a coy smile.
"You are still as reckless as ever." She said in a teasing tone.
The Black Panther grinned as he let out a chuckle, which she joined in.
"And you are still quick to speak your mind." T'Challa responded in a cocky tone, very unusual for the calm and serious person he normally is.
Ororo smiled as she looked up at him.
Suddenly an explosion interrupted their moment as they both turn to the source of the noise. The reminder that they are still in the middle of a war, the pair sighed as Black Panther stepped back and put his mask on.
"We will have to catch up another time." Panther said as he prepared to move out.
Only for Storm to touch his arm, grabbing his attention. "I know a wonderful Café in the city. I'll take you there, if it is still open when this is all over."
The Wakandan King smiled under his mask. "I am looking forward to it."
She smiled to him as they both take off towards the battle, Storm commanding the winds to carry her, while Black Panther scaled the side of the buildings with his claws.
Both having found another reason to save the world.
Wasp zipped around the colossal form of a Sentinel. Weaving through the armor plating and zapping the metal circuitry indiscriminately. She'd hoped to disable the robot, by frying its motherboard. But, since she has no idea what parts of the machine are important or not, since she's not tech savvy like Tony or… Hank. She had to rely on the old tactic of simply breaking everything till it goes down. It worked for the Kree Sentry; it should work here.
Unfortunately, it wasn't going as well as she thought. No matter what she blasted, the Robot still functioned. Even worse, being inside the metal body, she could feel the heat coming off this thing. Whatever power source it used, was giving off so much heat that she felt like her wings would melt off.
Eventually she had to remove herself from the Sentinels armor and fly away from it. The cold air from the outside, easily soothed her. She turned back to get a good look at the robot. Perhaps if she entered at another point, she could do some serious damage.
The Robot stared at her, its cold eyes piercing her soul. But Wasp was unphased. After dealing with Ultron, these wind-up tin soldiers were nothing compared to him.
However, its massive size made beating it hard for her alone. She considered trying to use her giant form again to crush it. But she hasn't been able to find the time to practice with it since that day. The toll that form takes on her body was too intense. She'd only be able to take out one Sentinel before she would be rendered useless for the rest of the fight.
So, staying small and zapping at the most vulnerable parts was the best she could do. She only wished she could do more damage. She never had this problem when she and Hank first started out as hero. But back then they were only fighting small time crooks or crazy scientists with wacky inventions. She recalled this one guy that she and Hank took down, who's head looked just like an egg. She made a mental note to show Ben that guy when this was over.
From the day the Avengers formed she had been fighting beings who's power rival literal gods. Compared to them, she is basically a bug. If she didn't do something soon, the gap between her and her teammates would keep growing.
She flew around the Sentinels giant hand as it tried to swat her. Its massive bulk compared to her size, made avoiding it pretty easy for her.
The Size Changing Heroine was about to make her way into the Sentinels head, when said head suddenly exploded as something fast struck it from behind and burst the Robots head like a big metal watermelon.
Wasp raised her arms to shield herself from the dust and debris that rained down around her. As she lowered her arms, she looked to see who assisted her. Only for a look of utter distain to appear on her face. For standing before her was none other than Carol Danvers.
The Young Woman brushed off her uniform as she looked back at the Giant Robot, just as its headless corpse fell to the ground in a loud crash.
A cocky smirk appeared on her face as she turned away from the machine. When her eyes fell upon the miniature form of Wasp, the Kree Hybrid's body froze like a deer in headlights.
"M-Miss Van Dyne. I mean, Uh. Wasp. Hello." The SHIELD Agent greeted awkwardly. Things were still tense between her and the Avengers after her deception was revealed.
Even with Ben forgiving her and dating her, the tension was still there with the other heroes.
Wasp was the worst of all. She despised Carol to no end. So much so that Carol couldn't even hang out with Ben at the Mansion because of her.
The Size Changing Heroine glared at the SHIELD Agent before turning her head in a huff.
"Agent." Came her response. Not even giving the Blonde the courtesy of using her last name.
She was just about to fly off when Carol reached out to her. "Wait. Is Ben, ok?" She asked, with concern in her voice.
Wasp turned around giving her a harsh look. Causing Carol to shyly shift on her feet and grab her left arm with her hand.
"I just. Haven't seen him yet. I figured he might be where the main action is. Knowing him." She elaborated, her voice growing softer as Wasp flew towards until she was inches from her face.
"He's not here." Wasp spat her, venomously. "So, you can forget about trying to arrest him."
Carol was taken aback by the Insect themed Heroines statement.
"I-I would never…" Carol started to say, but Wasp wasn't having any of it.
"What? Betray him? Is that what you where gonna say? Cause that ships already sailed." Wasp shot back, her entire body glowing with her bioenergy from how angry she was.
Despite being the size of an actual wasp and Carol being tough enough to shrug off tank shells. The Young Agent was actually intimidated by the Size Shifter and backed up from her.
Despite that, Carol took a deep breath and hardened her expression as she locked eyes with Wasp.
"I care about, Ben. I know you don't believe me, but it's the truth." Carol said with sheer conviction. "I know I don't deserve a second chance. But he gave me one anyway. Cause that's the kind of man he is."
She then took one step forward getting right up in Wasp's face.
"You may not trust me. But you should at least trust him."
The two Super Women glared at each other, neither side backing down.
Eventually, Wasp let out a sigh and the light that surrounded her, died down.
"You really are as stubborn as he's said." Sighed the Wasp.
Carol tried to keep her cold expression, but the fact that her boyfriend talks about her to his teammates made her heart flutter a little.
"These Robots are tough. You wanna help Ben, then you better get to work breaking them." Wasp said as she flew away in the direction of the closest Sentinel.
Carol was stunned for a few seconds. Before shaking it off and taking to the sky to follow her. Looks like she was finally making some progress.
"You gotta be F#$ing kidding me." Wolverine said incredulously.
"Language!" Cap snapped at him.
Barely a second for either of them to process the exposition dump that Lodestar had just relayed to them.
"So, Jeannie's got some Ancient Cosmic Flame Bird inside her and Frost is trying to save her, by some psychic exorcism?" Logan summarised, his tone conveying his disbelief.
"Well, when you put it like that it sounds insane." The Alien Teen responded.
"That's cause it is." The Clawed Mutant stated, getting worked up.
Captain America stood up and put his hand on his shoulder to calm him down. "He does have a point, Ben. This does sound quite farfetched."
Lodestar then gave the pair and incredulous look. "Cap, we both live under the same roof as a literal Norse God, and you were frozen in ice for sixty years and survived."
He then turned to Wolverine. "That's not even beginning to cover all the crazy stuff you guys do all from genetic mutations. At this point, can we really rule out anything?"
The two Long Lived Heroes turned to each other and shrugged. He did have a point.
"Ok kid. So, what's your plan now? You really think, Frosts gonna pull off axing a space god?" Wolverine asked him. His doubt aimed more at Emma than him.
"I honestly don't know." The Young Avenger admitted. "Right now, I'm just trying to take any advantage we can get at this point."
That earned a grunt from the Clawed Mutant. But Captain America walked over to the Teen Hero and stood tall as he gave him a confident look.
"Whatever you need, Son. We will support you however we can." He said assuredly.
Lodestar smiled as he gave the Super Soldier a nod. He then turned to look out the window.
Cyclops had managed to free himself and is back to fighting Magneto. Blasting his eye beams at him, even getting creative as he fired his beam at a window behind Magneto, causing the beam to bounce off the reflective surface, which then bounced off the windscreen of a car, to the window of another building before striking Magneto from behind.
This allowed Rogue to leap from the building. The Southern Belle apparently given Beast a high five as she now sported an ape-like physique with patches of blue fur in her forearms and legs, with her hair growing longer like a mane, and a series of fangs protruding from her lips.
The pair engaged Magneto while the Alien Teen watched from the window.
"First I gotta get Cyke away from here." Lodestar explained. "So long as he's here, Jean's gonna be freaking out and Emma will never get that bird out of her. Apparently, she and Scott have some special psychic bond or something."
Wolverine seemed to briefly grimace at the mention of the bond as he differed his gaze from the teen.
"You should take some backup with you." Cap suggested with a concerned look on his face. As much as he trusted Bens' abilities. He still didn't like the idea of the Teen Avenger going off to face a threat like this without one of the Avengers backing him up.
Lodestar gave the Super Soldier a confident smirk. "Don't worry, Cap. I'll be back before you can say…"
Suddenly the Ultimatrix symbol on his chest blinked and beeped. The Alien Hero was caught off guard that he was too late to reach the dial before transforming back to Ben in a flash of green light.
"Son of a…"
"Ben!" Cap snapped at him before he could finish that sentence.
Ben mumbled under his breath as he looked down at the watch. The dial glowing red as it entered recharge mode.
He cursed himself mentally, he got so caught up in giving the two war veterans the rundown, that he completely forgot to turn back to normal to give the watch time to recharge.
Now, because of his absentmindedness, he had to wait until the watch recharged
"Out of juice?" Wolverine asked.
"Yeah." Ben groaned. "Now I gotta wait 5 minutes before I can transform again."
"A lot can happen in 5 minutes, kid." Logan stated.
Ben responded with an incredulous look. "Yeah, I know. And the more time I'm here, means the harder it's gonna be for Emma and Laura."
"So until that watch recharges, our best bet to help em is to take Magneto down." Logan rationalised. "You said it yourself. So long as One-Eyes in trouble, Reds not gonna calm down. We take down Mags. Problem solved."
He missed a few key details, but the logic was pretty sound.
"Yeah, ok." Ben concurred. "Let's take him."
He went to move, only for Captain America to block him.
"Stay here, Ben." He ordered.
Bens looked up at the Super Soldier in clear objection. "Seriously? I can't just stand by and do nothing."
"I understand. But in your current state, you would be a hindrance than a help. Magneto is too powerful for you to face without your powers." Captain America explained.
In any other situation, Cap wouldn't be this cautious in regard to Ben. He's personally trained the Teen Hero, along with Hawkeye and Black Panther, in several training sessions and the Young Man had been shown to be a very capable fighter in both armed and unarmed combat.
While Cap took it upon himself to instruct several members of the Avengers in hand-to-hand combat, which included Tony and Wasp, the reasoning for Panther and Hawkeye becoming invested in Bens' training seemed to be more on a personal level than a reasonable one. Though in Hawkeyes case, he'd never admit it was anything other than him simply owing Ben for helping clear his name.
However, Bens' skills aside, he's still only a Teenager and is nowhere near the skill level of someone like Hawkeye, to go up against Magneto. Especially when he's unarmed.
Before the Young Avenger could protest any further. Wolverine, who had been enjoying the exchange, suddenly tensed up.
"Both of you get out." He said in a serious tone. Grabbing both their attention.
"Why?" Ben asked, raising his eyebrow confused.
"Because I can't move." The Clawed Mutant responded. Alarm in his voice as he strained his body trying to move.
The two Avengers only had a second to react as Wolverine surged towards Ben. Like he was a puppet on strings. Captain America immediately moved to protect the Teen. However, midway into his first stride, the Super Soldier felt a pull on his shield which grew in power. Captain America soon found himself being pulled along with Wolverine as both were launched towards Ben.
The Young Hero crossed his arms in front of him and braced for impact. The pair collided with Ben, knocking him off his feet and sent him smashing through the window of the apartment. Shattered glass floated around him as the Teen fell from the building to the streets below.
He quickly tried to get his bearings, hoping there was a tree or a dumpster he could aim for that will cushion his fall.
Sadly, all that was beneath him was solid pavement and a parked car. Neither offered any sort of comfortable landing.
Just then, a piece of metal flew in and impaled itself into the collar of Bens jacket, piercing through the material and bending itself into a hook. Catching Ben and pulling him into the air.
The Teen Hero looked up to see Magneto, his arm outstretched to control the metal and an angry expression on his face.
"You cannot hide from me, boy." He said threateningly. "I have waited too long for my vengeance."
"Surprised you old dudes still have patience." Ben quipped at him. With a cocky smirk. "At your age, I'd think you'd want to do as much as possible. Cause you don't have that much time left."
Magneto's left eye twitched from the Young Avengers constant boorishness. "Insolent till the end."
"It's what I do." Ben replied nonchalantly. "If it's gonna be my last words. May as well make them a zinger."
"Then it seems I have granted your last request." The Master of Magnetism said with an evil grin.
Ben chuckled. "Couldn't you have just shut up and spared me the headache."
Magneto narrowed his eyes and raised his left hand and bend a shard of metal into a fine blade. "Very well."
He then aimed the blade at Bens throat. The Teen thought he'd would've been able to stall for longer. The entire time he was frantically trying to activate the Ultimatrix, but it had barely been a full minute since he timed out.
"Straight to the point huh? That's one way to cut it. You're quite the eager cleaver." Ben joked, his voice cracking as his body trembled, sweet practically spraying from his forehead like a fountain. Yet all he could do was spout jokes and one-liners like a stand-up comedian who ran out of material.
Just then a blur of yellow and grey, slammed into Magneto, knocking him away from Ben causing his concentration to be broken, resulting in Ben falling out of the sky and plummeting to the ground.
Only for the blur to swing around and catch him. The sudden motion, left Ben slightly dizzy as he shook his head to clear up the daze.
When his eyes focused, he found himself staring into the sparkling blue eyes of Carol. Her face showing clear signs of worry and concern.
"Are you ok, Ben?" She asked as they both landed on the ground. Ben almost tripping over himself due to his nerves turning his legs to jelly.
Fortunately, Carol caught him, her grip on his was so tight, like she was afraid he was gonna blow away in the wind.
"He didn't hurt you, did he?" She questioned, her hands starting to inspect him like he'd just walked out of a gun fight.
Ben chuckled from both nervous energy and relief. He didn't even question how she was here, just glad she was.
"I'm fine, Carol." He said, though his body wouldn't stop trembling. "Just a bit rocked, but I'm alright. See, not a scratch on me."
He stepped away and showed her that he was indeed, unharmed. Carol looked him up and down as if to make sure. Then embraced him in a tight hug.
"Thank goodness." She whispered.
Ben smiled as he hugged her back.
Once they separated, the couple shared a nice smile with each other before Carol proceeded to poke Ben sharply.
"Yeow! What was that for?" Ben yelped, rubbing the spot she jabbed.
"That's for scaring me." She answered. "I don't see you for weeks, only to come back and the city is in chaos. Wasp tells me you're off somewhere else only to then see you about to be carved up like a Thanksgiving Turkey!"
"In my defence. That first part wasn't my fault." Ben replied with his usual humour.
The Kree Hybrid rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Recently it seems like we can't ever get together unless the world is about to end."
Ben reached up and cupped her cheek in his hand as he turned her attention to him. "I'm free tomorrow. How about we grab some dinner once we've taken care of this mess?"
Carol smirked as she caressed his hand and looked into his emerald eyes. "Already assuming the world won't end tonight. Aren't you being a little presumptuous?"
"Please, I'm Ben Tennyson. Saving the world. That's a Tuesday for me." Ben stated boisterously.
The SHIELD Agent chuckled. No matter how dire things get. Somehow, he always found a way to bounce back. It's one of the many things she liked about him.
Her eyes then drifted to his wrist and her concern returned. "Ben, your watch."
Ben frowned as he raised the Ultimatrix. "Yeah, it's in recharge mode. So stupid, I should've been paying attention. Now I gotta wait till it recharges."
"How long do you have?" She asked.
Ben shrugged. "Bout four minutes, give or take."
