"Mr. Hughes, can this messenger now assist me in performing the ritual for storing and retrieving items?"
Leyton raised the messenger book, which looked as if it were cast from gold, and put the Eternal Blazing Sun's divine blood into his In arms.
"Yes, although it's a bit stupid, it can be used after some education."
Mr. Hughes nodded, his tone full of disdain for this messenger.
Leyton was speechless for a moment, wanting to say: Mr. Hughes, you weren't like this before; you were very friendly to this book previously.
This thought only flashed through his mind; Leyton, being cautious, didn't dare to let it fully form.
"Mr. Hughes, can you pulverize a Sequence 7's Beyonder characteristic and then have it aggregate level by level into three new Beyonder characteristic?"
Leyton thought of his small animal cultivation plan and asked again.
Mr. Hughes looked at Leyton with a strange expression:
"Why would you have such an idea? Even if Beyonder characteristic are pulverized, they won't aggregate level by level."
"Uh…" Leyton hesitated for a moment, then described the ability of the Unshadowed Crucifix.
"This belongs to the Purification ability of the Unshadowed, and I can indeed do it."
Mr. Hughes nodded slightly but didn't directly agree. Leyton quietly waited for the conditions Mr. Hughes would propose next.
"How is your mission progressing?"
Mr. Hughes didn't propose conditions but instead inquired about the mission's progress.
Leyton was stunned for a moment, wanting to say that he had either been taking exams or preparing for exams during this period, and his free time had been spent causing trouble at sea, fighting, and venting his anger on pirates who were not innocent.
"The Primordial Moon has a certain relationship with the Rose School of Thought, but this is most likely because the Rose School of Thought possesses a Sequence 1 Beauty Goddess's Beyonder characteristic."
"The Primordial Moon itself has no relation to the Chained God and Mother Tree of Desire worshipped by the Rose School of Thought; it should be another Evil God. Their relationship is very complex, possibly both antagonistic and cooperative."
Leyton finally selected and spoke a portion of the information he knew.
"Not bad, it's acceptable."
Mr. Hughes nodded, then said:
"You can use the ritual again in two days to retrieve the Beyonder characteristic. The level-by-level extraction of Beyonder characteristic requires a considerable amount of time, and the same applies to the item you put in that contains the Harvest Priest's Beyonder characteristic."
"Okay."
Although he didn't understand the meaning of Mr. Hughes asking this question, as an angel under a True God, he couldn't possibly be unaware of this information, but Leyton quickly nodded in response.
Afterward, he stayed in the Library for a period, browsing various books that had been added to the Library, until his Spirituality began to become unstable. Only then did Leyton put down the book in his hand, and his spirit body returned to his physical body.
Leyton reached into his Arms and pulled out a dark glass bottle containing a drop of divine blood, as dazzling as a miniature sun.
"I wonder how Mr. Hughes managed it? My visit to the Library was only as a spirit body, yet this bottle of divine blood could return with me."
Leyton pondered for a long time, roughly guessing the principle, but he couldn't figure out exactly how it was done.
The sunlight filtering through the curtains had already dimmed, and Bugs Bunny, sprawled on the desk, was still asleep. Leyton also swayed his body, lay back on the bed, and began to meditate to replenish his depleted Spirituality.
By the time his Spirituality recovered, the sky outside had completely darkened.
Leyton ignored the rabbit still sleeping on the table, walked out of the room, and asked the hotel attendant to send up dinner and a drink, specifically asking for some fruit to be prepared for him.
After finishing the dinner brought by the attendant, Leyton left some fruit next to Bugs Bunny and then lay down on the bed and fell into a deep sleep.
In his dream, Leyton saw a room filled with bloody, viscous, hairy liquid, and a white-haired head hung in mid-air.
A pair of cold, lashless eyes had grown on the forehead and cheeks of the head.
The piano next to it was playing by itself.
Three indistinct figures were gazing at the white-haired head suspended in the air.
Leyton suddenly sat up from the bed, gasping for breath.
"Damn it! Is the Hidden Sage bored recently? Even when I'm sleeping, he has to give me a prophecy, and such a terrifying scene at that." Leyton mumbled discontentedly.
Based on his premonition, Leyton already understood the meaning of the scene he had just witnessed: Old Neil, a member of the Nighthawks team in Tingen City, had lost control and collapsed due to absorbing unbearable knowledge from the Hidden Sage.
"Why tell me this? He's already lost control!"
Leyton couldn't quite grasp the Hidden Sage's purpose.
Although frustrated, Leyton still climbed out of bed. Sunlight streamed into the room through the curtains; it was now a bright morning.
"Boss!"
Bugs Bunny sat on the adjacent desk, gnawing on the fruit the attendant had brought last night.
"Alright, let's go out for breakfast, and then you'll come with me somewhere."
Leyton said as he put on his coat from the coat rack.
"Go out! I'm not going, I don't want to Spirit World Travel anymore!"
Bugs Bunny instinctively shook his head upon hearing the words "go out."
"Don't worry, we won't be Spirit World Traveling. This place isn't very far; we can just walk there." Leyton reassured Bugs Bunny, who had developed a phobia of Spirit World Travel.
Hearing Leyton's explanation, Bugs Bunny finally relaxed and continued to bob his head while gnawing on the fruit.
After washing up in the washroom, Leyton took Bugs Bunny, who was still gnawing on fruit, and left.
Constantly tossing Bugs Bunny's toy cane in his hand, Leyton navigated through the crowds and carriages according to the promptings of his Spirituality.
He grabbed breakfast on the way, just before reaching his destination.
When he and Bugs Bunny arrived near Old Neil's house, Leyton stopped. Although still some distance away, he could already feel the pervasive aura of losing control and bloodlust emanating from the house ahead.
Leyton, still hesitating on how to resolve this matter, felt someone approaching. He leaned into a nearby shadow, raised his hand, and drew a symbol of the Fallen in the air. Then, with a pull, the surrounding shadows, as if solid, covered him and Bugs Bunny.
Leyton saw a middle-aged man with a receding hairline, wearing black gloves, holding a staff in one hand, and a simple ornament made of many strands of dark hair in the other, dressed in a black trench coat.
Behind him followed two young people, a man and a woman. Leyton easily recognized the man wearing a semi-tall silk top hat, a white shirt, a black waistcoat, and dark trousers.
"First, no, second meeting. Good morning, Mr. Fool." Leyton murmured softly.
Klein, following behind his captain, Dunn, felt his spiritual intuition triggered again. He turned his head and glanced in Leyton's direction but saw nothing.
"What's wrong?" Dunn asked steadily without turning his head.
"Oh, nothing, I just felt as if someone mentioned me."
Klein didn't pay much attention to it, dismissing it as a hallucination caused by his nervousness.
"His spiritual intuition is quite high! Is this the bonus from the gray fog? It does feel more advanced than the Knowledge Moor." Leyton muttered to himself.
Due to Klein's high spiritual intuition, Leyton didn't pay attention to what was happening inside the house, only feeling the two gunshots and the spiritual fluctuations coming from within.
Leyton no longer paid attention to the subsequent developments; he knew what would happen next without needing to see it. He silently emerged from the shadows and left the area.
If it had been a month or two earlier, there might have been a way to resolve Old Neil's loss of control, but now it was too late.
Leyton still hadn't figured out the Hidden Sage's intention in showing him this prophetic scene. It couldn't be to make him try to raise His already negative favorability, could it!
"Boss, what are we going to do?"
Bugs Bunny, perched on his shoulder, asked curiously.
"Nothing, and I don't know what to do. For now, let's just be spectators." Leyton replied.
This City likely had the gaze of Amon's brother and the Goddess, making it unsuitable for him to do anything. Even contact with Klein needed to be avoided as much as possible. Being discovered by the Goddess wasn't a big deal, but if Amon's brother found out, he would be in trouble.
"The identity of a knowledge worshiper is a bit too conspicuous, but I can't abandon it."
Because of this, Leyton could only temporarily lower his sense of presence.
"You adjust your state these two days. Once you get the Beyonder characteristic, you can advance to Sequence 7 Harvest Priest." Leyton returned to the hotel with Bugs Bunny.
For the next few days, Leyton didn't go out much. Unless necessary, Leyton didn't want to be too active in this City; the more movement he made, the more likely Amon's brother might accidentally see him.
Every day, Leyton made a talisman using the Eternal Blazing Sun's divine blood, then went to the Library in the Spirit World Depths to read, preparing to develop his own secret art to digest the potion.
Until the third day, Mr. Hughes informed Leyton that the two Sequence 7 Beyonder characteristic had been extracted level by level and separated into Beyonder characteristic of different Sequences.
Leyton immediately retrieved the separated Beyonder characteristic from the Library through a ritual.
Leyton looked at the six light clusters, big and small, placed on the table, feeling a bit surprised.
"Mr. Hughes also extracted the Harvest Priest's Beyonder characteristic level by level for me! Although I won't use them, I can sell them for some money. The materials for making scrolls cost me too much money before."
Leyton took out five iron cigarette cases he had asked the attendant for and carefully stored all the Beyonder characteristic except for the Harvest Priest's.
"I'll supervise from the side. You try to concoct the potion yourself."
Leyton said to the chubby rabbit, who was drooling at the Beyonder characteristic.
"Me, myself!"
Bugs Bunny looked at his boss incredulously, then down at his own paws.
"Try it. You can even hold a cane and wear a hat with your paws, so concocting a potion should be possible too." Leyton said.
Ultimately, Bugs Bunny, persuaded by Leyton, began to attempt concocting the potion himself.
Leyton watched as it carefully held the ingredients, then repeatedly confirmed the correct measurements with him, and finally placed the ingredients into the glass bottle.
