Hearing the name, Hunter's hand trembled slightly. He unconsciously tightened his grip on her hand and pressed the dagger harder against her neck, a thin hazy red line appearing on her skin. The girl gritted her teeth in pain, but made no sound. Enduring it, she spoke quietly, "I'm not your enemy, you fool."
The words jolted Hunter out of his rage. Realization flickered in his eyes as he loosened his grip and drew the dagger back slightly, easing the tension from her small, delicate hand.
"You're not my enemy… what do you mean?" he asked, his voice low with confusion.
The girl sighed with relief, then looked up at him, her gaze steady. A faint smile formed on her lips as she said, "My enemy is the same as yours—that wretched Sorrowful."
Hunter's eyes widened. He stood frozen, her words echoing in his mind. What is she even talking about?
Still stunned, he released her hand completely and stepped back, lowering the dagger. The girl heaved a sigh of relief and became calm and composed now.
"What do you mean?" he asked again evenly. "Care to explain?"
The girl paused, thinking, then answered, "My enemy is also Sorrowful. That guy is evil… and very dangerous."
