Chapter 19 - Whisper Of Forgiveness

They went to class. It was only a few minutes before the next lesson would start. Maria still wore the glasses, perched confidently on her face.

As soon as they walked in, all eyes turned toward them. But Maria didn't flinch. She held her head high, her aura strong, her beauty untouched by the whispers around her. No one knew what had really happened outside.

Maria moved to her desk but paused. In just a few seconds, she stepped forward and walked straight up to Einstein.

The class fell completely silent, everyone holding their breath, waiting for what was about to happen. Some expected a fight, or maybe a sharp insult.

Instead, she leaned in closer, and closer — until she was almost at his ear.

"Sorry," she whispered softly.

Most students didn't hear the word, but a few caught it by reading her lips.

Then she pulled back quickly, turned, and returned to her seat. She sat down gracefully, still wearing those glasses that seemed to shine even brighter now.Thoughts raced through Einstein's mind. Is she really going to stop bothering Eliza? What did she mean by 'sorry'?

He stared at her, confused but also strangely moved, as the rest of the class buzzed in quiet wonder over what had just happened.

..... Teacher Enters

Good afternoon, sir.

The teacher entered and started his lesson. Before long, he finished and left the class again. As soon as he was gone, Hawkings and Vinci walked over to Einstein's seat."What did she say to you?" Hawkings asked eagerly.

"Yeah," Vinci added, leaning closer, curious.

Einstein looked at them, paused for a moment, and finally answered, "She just said 'sorry.' That's all."He hesitated, thinking. "I don't even know why she said it," he added, frowning slightly.

"Let's find out," Vinci suggested, his eyes sharp with curiosity.

"But how?" Einstein asked, shaking his head slightly.

There was a short silence as they all thought.

"Let me try something," Einstein finally said, standing up.

Around them, some students were playing puzzle games, others were reading books on discoveries and history. A few still watched curiously, waiting to see what would happen.

Einstein walked over to Maria's desk. He didn't want to draw too much attention or break the strange calm in the room.

He leaned in and whispered to her, "You're forgiven."Maria's friend, sitting close by, quickly asked her, "What did he come to say to you?"

Maria answered simply, "He said, 'You're forgiven.' That's all."

When Einstein returned to his seat, Hawkings was waiting."What did you say to her?" Hawkings asked right away.

Einstein looked a bit embarrassed. "Uh… I just said, 'You're forgiven.' That's all," he admitted.

Hawkings and Vinci looked at each other, then turned back to him and asked at the same time, "But why? So… are you two going to become friends now, or what?"Einstein sighed deeply and shook his head.

"I hope that never happens," he said firmly, though a flicker of doubt passed through his eyes...
