Chapter 7 - The Pursuit of Perfection

Although the Three Tides Palm is only a low-level spirit-class magical power, it is the first magical power ever created by Jiang Liuwu and the only one in the history of Qingyue City!

When the demon clan besieged the city, King Jiang Liuwu fought alone to turn the tide. For three days and three nights, he battled fiercely, slaying tens of thousands of demons before finally falling from exhaustion.

If not for Jiang Liuwu, Qingyue City would have long since been reduced to ruins. In the hearts of the city's millions of residents, Jiang Liuwu's status is exalted beyond measure. This magical power, as his first creation, carries profound meaning for the Jiang family. Over the years, the Jiang family had visited the Divine Rune Masters seven times, and while many high-level masters could sense the imperfections within the technique, not one could identify where the flaws lay.

Although Lin Ziyan is not of the Jiang family by name, Jiang Liuwu is her grandfather!

She had only left behind one intentional error, yet Ye Wei had pointed out three mistakes. That meant—he might actually be able to perfect the Three Tides Palm!

Miss Ziyan stared at Ye Wei, eyes wide with shock. Her heart surged with emotion. His soul perception was far beyond what she could have imagined!

"Which three mistakes?" Lin Ziyan asked, her voice a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation as she looked at Ye Wei with rapt attention.

Ye Wei, of course, didn't understand the background behind the Three Tides Palm. He simply believed Miss Ziyan was testing him. He stepped forward and casually pointed to three divine rune nodes. One of them was the mistake Lin Ziyan had intentionally placed; the other two were flaws that even Divine Rune Masters had failed to detect!

"You believe these three points are errors? Should I show you the corrections through demonstration?" Lin Ziyan asked, her voice trembling slightly with eagerness.

"My cultivation is only at the level of a one-star apprentice… my strength isn't sufficient," Ye Wei said with a helpless smile, scratching the back of his head. He didn't understand why Miss Ziyan was so worked up. At his current level, he wasn't even capable of drawing complete divine runes, let alone performing a magical technique.

Even though it was a low-level power, the Three Tides Palm still contained thirty-six divine rune lines—each complex and intricate. Simply describing the corrections aloud wouldn't be enough for someone else to grasp them.

"I see..." Lin Ziyan looked at Ye Wei apologetically. She had been too excited and forgotten about his current cultivation level. Ye Wei would have to advance before he could demonstrate or refine divine runes.

"Then can you at least explain how to perfect it?" Lin Ziyan pressed on, unwilling to give up.

"The sixth and seventh divine rune lines should be more curved. The tenth and eleventh should be removed and replaced by a different divine rune…" Ye Wei thought for a moment and began explaining.

Lin Ziyan frowned, clearly struggling to understand. She hadn't yet reached the level of a warrior, and her comprehension of divine rune structures was still limited.

Perfecting magical techniques required deep familiarity and mastery of divine runes!

After a moment's hesitation, Lin Ziyan bit her lip, firmed her resolve, and looked straight at Ye Wei. "Ye Wei, come stand behind me for a moment." Her voice was as soft as a whisper, with a rare shyness flushing her cheeks.

The Three Tides Palm held immense meaning for the Jiang family—it was her grandfather's legacy. Now, with the chance to perfect it within reach, how could she let that chance slip by?

"Oh."

Ye Wei nodded and, although unsure of why Miss Ziyan wanted him behind her, did as she asked. He stood about a foot away, close enough to catch the delicate fragrance wafting from her.

His eyes wandered to her graceful figure, her slender legs, the soft curve of her hips. His breath caught, and a blush crept up his cheeks.

"You'll guide me through the writing process," Lin Ziyan said, turning to glance at Ye Wei. Her face was flushed, but her gaze was resolute.

"Ah?" Ye Wei froze for a second, then nodded quickly. "Okay."

Maintaining their inch of distance, Ye Wei extended his hand and began guiding her.

Following Ye Wei's instructions, Lin Ziyan slowly attempted to sketch the Three Tides Palm. Feeling Ye Wei's presence so close behind, her heart fluttered uncontrollably. She had never been this close to a boy before, and quickly forced herself to concentrate.

Her Yuan Qi began to flow, and divine rune lines formed slowly in the air.

"No!" Ye Wei said quickly.

Just as he spoke, half of the divine rune lines suddenly exploded with a sharp bang.

Failure!

Lin Ziyan looked a little disappointed, but did not give up. "Again!"

Ye Wei could only continue pointing and guiding her hand in the air.

She tried several more times, but each ended in failure. Soon, her breathing grew heavy from exhaustion.

"Miss Ziyan, maybe we should take a break and try again later." Ye Wei offered a bitter smile. Sweat drenched Lin Ziyan's clothes, making them cling to her body and revealing hints of her fair skin. The sight was unexpectedly alluring.

Ye Wei quickly turned his head away, not daring to look any further. Miss Ziyan was elegant and noble—how could he stare like that?

"No!" Lin Ziyan shook her head firmly. She was determined to perfect this technique—after all, it was her grandfather's legacy!

She took out a white pill, swallowed it, and sat cross-legged to restore her Yuan Qi.

Ye Wei's eyes widened slightly in surprise. That was a Yuan Spirit Pill—extremely rare and expensive, beyond the reach of most warriors.

While she cultivated, Ye Wei found himself absentmindedly observing her. Lin Ziyan was undeniably beautiful—her long lashes, her delicate nose, those soft pink lips… Her hair cascaded gently over her shoulders, adding to her charm.

His gaze drifted downward. Her smooth white neck, her collar, a glimpse of soft skin and a faint, captivating curve…

Ye Wei's heart raced. What am I thinking?! He scolded himself, forcing his eyes away and staring up at the ceiling.

After a while, Lin Ziyan opened her eyes. One Yuan Spirit Pill had fully restored her strength.

She turned to speak to Ye Wei, but caught his lingering gaze. Realizing what had happened, she let out a soft gasp and leapt to her feet, face flushed.

"I…" Ye Wei stammered, feeling more than a little awkward.

Lin Ziyan's chest rose and fell slightly as she calmed herself. Though clearly a little embarrassed, she didn't say anything. Instead, she looked at Ye Wei again. Compared to the other boys who always tried to get close to her, Ye Wei's innocent awkwardness and honest smile felt… sincere.

"Let's continue," Lin Ziyan said, her tone now resolute. She had made up her mind—she would perfect the Three Tides Palm no matter what.

"Yeah." Ye Wei nodded. Although he didn't fully understand her persistence, seeing the look in her eyes, he felt compelled to help her achieve this dream.

He continued guiding her hand, but the results were still poor. Lin Ziyan's technique wasn't yet steady enough to control the intricate rune patterns of the Three Tides Palm.

"One more time. Get closer—it's okay!" Lin Ziyan bit her lower lip, glanced shyly at Ye Wei, and whispered softly.

"Closer?" Ye Wei stepped half a pace forward. Now he was so close to her that their bodies nearly touched. He could feel the warmth radiating from her skin.

Her scent lingered at the tip of his nose, and Ye Wei could barely keep his mind calm. As she was about to make another mistake, he instinctively grabbed her hand and began guiding it himself.

Her delicate fingers were smooth and soft, and the contact made Ye Wei's heart race.

But in that moment, he pushed those feelings aside. With steady hands, he slowly guided hers to draw the divine rune lines.

Feeling Ye Wei's warmth through his palm, Lin Ziyan's cheeks flushed, but she quickly focused. She had to concentrate—this was too important!
