Chapter 2 - Ken's Cultivation Class

"You are late, Mr. Walker."

When Ken reached in front of his classroom door, he was greeted by a new teacher whose expression was easy enough to guess.

His new teacher was fuming with anger. Her facial expression showed quite a strong anger, completely different from his previous teachers.

"I'm really sorry, Ma'am."

Ken apologized without hesitation. This was something he learned from several mistakes he made in his house.

'Apologize after you make a mistake'

His apology didn't work like it did with his mother, but it did make his teacher less angry.

"I am not going to listen to your excuses. Go to your seat. We will start our class."

She pointed towards an empty seat in the classroom. It was near the window.

His classmates were giving him strange looks.

Some were giggling, some were mocking, and some were simply watching the fun.

Although Ken wasn't the most popular student in the classroom, he was well-known for his studies and being late.

"Alright, now that Mr. Walker is here, we can start our class. By the way, I know all of you, but Mr. Walker doesn't know me yet."

"Ma'am, you can just call me Ken."

Ken interrupted as he felt a bit strange when some called him Mr. Walker. Whether it was his teachers, friends, or even his neighbors, everyone called him Ken.

"Okay!"

The teacher nodded and introduced herself.

"My name is Rose. I am your new and only Cultivation Teacher. I will be teaching you everything you need to know about Cultivation for the next two years."

"But since Cultivation is mostly practical, you will be given a lot of free time that you can use to improve yourself. Now, let's start our class."

Without wasting any time, she turned around.

She didn't care about the doubtful look of her students. It was normal to be doubtful.

Most of their teachers were well over their thirties or even forties.

But this cultivation teacher, who should be extremely strong, looked less than twenty years old.

Of course, boys were simply thinking about her looks.

As she not only looked young but also wore fashionable clothes, while most of the teachers wore more strict clothes.

While everyone was thinking about their new teachers, Rose was drawing several things on the whiteboard.

The first thing was a diagram. It was a small hexagon in the middle with a large circle around it.

There were two hexagons on a horizontal line from the middle hexagon and two other hexagons on a vertical line from the middle hexagon.

Inside each hexagon, the teacher had written certain words.

[Metal] [Fire] [Wind] [Earth] [Water]

She drew a line below the circle, and under that line, she made four different boxes, writing different words on each box.

[Life] [Death] [Space] [Abstract]

After finishing this, she put her marker down and turned around.

"Before we talk about this, let's talk about Cultivation. What is Cultivation? Why is our practice called Cultivation? Why do we cultivate?"

"Since Ken was the last one to arrive today, Ken will answer these questions."

Ken was stunned when Rose transferred all of these questions to him. But he quickly stood up and answered what he knew.

"Cultivation is a process of forming a bond with an Astral Being and absorbing Natural Energy to improve one's strength. We call our practice cultivation because every step of the cultivation helps us learn new skills."

"We cultivate for different reasons, but every human cultivates to protect our world."

When he said that last sentence, he showed a strong emotion. Not just him, every other student had a similar expression.

Rose scoffed inwardly.

'That might have been the case decades ago, but now, everyone cultivates for their gain. Well, they don't need to know that.'

Rose nodded her head and spoke.

"You can sit down."

Ken sat down, and Rose continued.

"Cultivation is a process through which we gain strength and longevity. Though even the oldest person to cultivate is only over three hundred years old."

"This is simply because the method of absorbing Natural Energy was not present on Earth. As Earth was a backward planet compared to many other planets, we lack proper technology and training systems."

"All of this changed when Earth was invaded by seven dimensions. When all hope was lost, the first cultivator, 'Manish', formed a bond with one of the invaders."

"The bond with formed with Astral Beings who were known for their complex emotions like humans. Because of this complexity, they bonded quite well."

"This bond granted humans a complete cultivation system. Awakening our Inner World and Energy Circuit. With the help of our bonds, we managed to acquire strength far beyond normal humans."

"These people managed to fight back, and slowly, we managed to destroy every single invading force except for Astral Beings. Instead of destroying them, they were sent back to their dimension on one condition."

"Astral Beings must form a bond with humans. Because of their large population, Astral Beings didn't care about it and agreed."

"Slowly but surely, we managed to reach a higher level of powers, to the point we were able to block the invasion before it could even reach Earth."

"You should already know what happened next. So, we are going to skip the history lesson and talk about the Cultivation System that humans have managed to create."

She pointed her marker at the whiteboard and pointed at each hexagon.

"These five names represent five elements. Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Metal. Each element has its power and weaknesses. At the same time, each element has a unique skill set."

"When the bond is formed, you will get affinity for one of the five elements. Once you get that affinity, you can cultivate that power."

At this moment, one of the student raised their hands.

"What?" Rose asked.

"Miss, what about Lightning and Ice, and even wood. Aren't they elements as well?" One of the students asked. He had a lean body and brown short hair.

"Because this is something you should not know right now. Is this answer enough?" Rose spoke with a cold tone.

She was making it clear to the students. She wasn't the same as other teachers. She came to teach them cultivation, and that's all she needed to teach them.

She would teach them the way she liked, not the way they wanted.

Hearing this tone, everyone heavily gulped while David hurriedly nodded.

Rose ignored their expressions and continued.

"Each of the five elements has a certain relationship with the other elements. For example, Fire and Water are simply enemies, but if used correctly, they could create large mists that can block your enemies' vision."

"Fire and Wind are good for combination attacks. Wind can always make fire stronger. On the other hand, wind can easily cut through water, but it will have a hard time cutting through earth."

"Earth can easily block water and fire, but it doesn't have the sharpness like wind. These four elements balance each other, but metal is the fifth element that is independent while being dependent on the others."

"Metal can tear through earth and water. Fire and wind can't do much to it. But if metal is combined with fire, it creates a devastating attack. Combined with wind, it creates sharper attacks."

"Combined with earth, it creates an unbreakable defense. Only with water, it doesn't do much, but it can learn a lot from water."

"Metal can be hard as earth but also smooth as water. So, it is the center of all five elements. No matter which element you have, it will be easier to learn the Metal Element."

"But if you have Fire, it will be hard to learn Water and vice versa. If you have wind, it will be hard to learn earth and vice versa."

"But some Astral Beings have a mutated element."

At this moment, Rose's gaze fell on David, and she continued.

"When two or more elements merge, they create a mutated element. These mutated elements are hard to learn and without proper advantage from Astral Beings, it is almost impossible to learn."

"Lighting is the mutation caused by wind and metal elements. Wood is the mutation caused by the Earth and Water elements. Steam is the mutation caused by Water and Fire."

"Lava is the mutation caused by Fire and Earth. Ice is the mutation caused by Water and Wind."

Then, she pointed at four brackets and continued.

"Except for these elements, there are four powers that only a few Astral Beings are connected with. If you are lucky enough to bond with them, you can have a chance to learn these."

"Life represents life force and vitality. Death represents the end of all lives. Space represents everything around us. Abstract represents ideas and imagination."

"These four powers are known as 'Supreme Elements'. And unlike other elements, without lucky awakening or adventure, it is impossible to learn any of them."
