[8:00 PM, Premier Day of Stars: Star Glare]
'First!'
'The crowd is small now, so I'm claiming this sea of comments!'
'Strange, they said Season Three was set in the Martial Arts Metropolis? Why are there only trees everywhere!'
As Season Three premiered, the comments instantly burst with activity.
The opening scene was a place resembling a primeval forest.
Sunlight filtered through the dense leaves, casting dappled patterns on the ground. The air was filled with the smell of decaying leaves and soil, and even the wind carried a sticky dampness.
"Roar!"
A deafening roar suddenly exploded, the exaggerated sound wave causing the surrounding leaves to rustle and fall.
Before long, a Star Beast resembling a Jurassic T-Rex, its body larger than a truck, suddenly rushed out of the bushes and leapt into the center of the screen.
Its dark brown scales shimmered coldly in the sunlight, and its massive head was embedded with two scarlet eyes, instantly signaling that it was not to be trifled with.
It was the overlord of this area, a Level Three Star Beast—the Tyrant Wyvern!
[Name: Tyrant Wyvern]
[Level: Three]
[Description: Mostly inhabits dense, subtropical primeval forest areas. Sustains itself by consuming Star Marrow Crystals. Adults periodically shed their skin and evolve. It mounts the skulls of defeated strong foes in its lair as trophies. Weakness: Poor resistance to low temperatures (sluggish below -50°C)]
[Evaluation: Aside from having short arms and being unable to ride a bicycle, everything else is an advantage (T-Rex short arms).]
With a loud 'crack,' the Tyrant Wyvern crushed a branch as thick as a bowl underfoot. Its scarlet eyes were fixed intently on the two figures desperately running ahead.
It had been sleeping peacefully this morning when the two-legged creature with two horns on its head abruptly let out a roar in the quiet forest, startling it awake.
And as an overlord-level Star Beast, the Tyrant Wyvern had a massive case of morning temper!
"Roar!"
The Tyrant Wyvern roared furiously, drool dripping from its sharp teeth. Alarming heat began to gather in its ferocious mouth, seemingly accumulating power.
Meanwhile, Liu Ma and Chen Kong, fleeing for their lives, started pointing fingers at each other.
"Liu Ma! Didn't you say it was safe around the Martial Arts Metropolis? What's with this huge guy? You call this safe?!"
Chen Kong ran while clutching his hair, his voice full of despair.
The back of his tracksuit was already soaked with sweat, and his trouser leg was torn and smeared with mud. The Tyrant Wyvern's tail had almost slapped him into a tree trunk earlier; he shuddered at the memory.
Liu Ma ran in the lead, his water bottle constantly clanking inside his backpack.
Hearing Chen Kong's accusation, Liu Ma glared at him. "You ask me? Who should I ask! This damn dragon never dared to come near the Martial Arts Metropolis before! Who knows what's gotten into it today!"
Just as he spoke, Liu Ma quickly reached out and pulled Chen Kong, who almost tumbled into a pit.
Even in the middle of a tense escape, he didn't forget to complain about Chen Kong's 'stinginess.'
"Kong, if you hadn't insisted that we shouldn't take advantage of Isabelle and refuse to take the steam airship, would we be walking this wretched road!"
"Keep pretending to be a man, I'll be killed by you eventually!"
Hearing this, Chen Kong had his own complaints.
"What do you mean pretending to be a man? Isn't her money still money? Besides…"
Just as Chen Kong was about to say more, he suddenly felt a searing heat behind his head.
The next second, the Tyrant Wyvern's breath grazed his scalp, instantly singeing a few strands of his hair.
If Chen Kong hadn't reacted in time, that blast of 'dragon fire' would have been enough to char him completely.
But compared to the heart palpitations of surviving a near-miss, Chen Kong was more concerned about something else—
"Damn it! I just got my hair cut not long ago!"
On Site 13, viewers watched as Liu Ma and Chen Kong were frantically chased by the Tyrant Wyvern.
The dimensional audience couldn't help but laugh.
Although Chen Kong and Liu Ma were facing multiple close calls, they still had the presence of mind to argue.
Moreover, the background music of the show was very upbeat, clearly indicating that this wasn't a genuine crisis.
'Hahahaha, save me! Even with a dragon chasing him to death, poor Kong still cares about his hairstyle!'
'The detail on the Tyrant Wyvern's scales is great! You can even see Chen Kong's cowardly reflection!'
'Wait! What is 'unable to ride a bicycle' in the Tyrant Wyvern's evaluation? The production team is going too far!'
Just as the two were running and bickering, a calm female voice suddenly came from ahead.
"Duck!"
It was Vivian!
Hearing the voice, Liu Ma and Chen Kong's eyes lit up. Without a second's hesitation, they instinctively covered their heads and crouched down.
Not far from the two, Vivian stood next to a futuristic cannon platform.
Complex quantum patterns were etched on the silver-gray barrel, and the muzzle glowed with cold blue light.
It was one of her trump cards—the Void Turret!
"Charging complete."
Vivian murmured, her fingers quickly sliding across the virtual panel, her gaze intensely focused.
Boom!
A thick energy beam spewed out of the muzzle, accompanied by a piercing whistle as it flew over the heads of Chen Kong and Liu Ma.
The wind generated by the energy beam blew their hair wildly, and a few strands close to the beam were instantly charred, intensifying the smell of burnt hair.
The energy beam accurately struck the Tyrant Wyvern's chest, instantly melting the scales there and exposing the flesh beneath.
The intense pain caused the Tyrant Wyvern to let out a tormented shriek. After stumbling a few steps, its massive body collapsed heavily onto the ground, shaking the earth.
Without hesitation, Vivian tapped the virtual panel, and the Void Turret immediately began to retract.
Before long, the silver-gray barrel folded up like a Transformer, and amidst a surge of converging data streams, it transformed into a palm-sized pocket watch.
The watch casing was pale blue, with a miniature etching of the turret on it, hanging from a silver chain that could be worn around the neck.
Vivian gripped the pocket watch and resolutely shouted at the two still-stunned men: "What are you waiting for, let's go!"
Chen Kong and Liu Ma finally snapped out of it, scrambling to follow Vivian.
As he ran, Chen Kong didn't forget to touch his burnt hair, wincing in distress.
Liu Ma, on the other hand, kept looking back as he ran, afraid the Tyrant Wyvern would follow, causing his water bottle to jingle even more in his backpack.
The three figures quickly disappeared into the dense woods, leaving behind only a few charred leaves on the ground.
A few minutes later, the Tyrant Wyvern, smoke still rising from its chest wound, slowly got up.
It looked around, and after confirming that the three 'terrifying upright apes' were completely gone, it angrily roared at the air a few times.
Finally, it turned with reluctance and slowly walked back into the depths of the forest.
Just you wait. The next time it encounters one of those terrifying upright apes who dare disturb its sleep, it will definitely give those guys a taste of its wrath!
