----------------------
Gu La's use of a single avatar to effortlessly defeat the War God Hall prodigy Gao Zhen left every spectator stunned. His second Soul—its unimaginable summoning and control abilities—shattered all prior intelligence.
Before this, every report had claimed Gu La wielded only the tyrannical Groudon martial soul, displayed during the Xingluo Tournament. No one suspected he possessed a twin martial soul—and that his second martial soul had been cultivated to such terrifying heights. It inspired envy and dread alike.
The tournament continued, with victories and losses exchanged among factions. When final standings were tallied by win count:
- Shrek Academy ranked first. Their students fought with ferocious, reckless intensity, backed by deep institutional strength. All three of their Soul Saints secured the most wins and highest points.
- Spirit Pagoda ranked second. Gu La, Gu Yue, Qing Liuli—all delivered outstanding performances. Their position was well-deserved.
- War God Hall ranked third. Their members were evenly skilled and hardened by relentless discipline.
- Federation Representative Team, relying on numerical advantage and isolated powerhouses, placed fourth.
- Beihai Fleet, despite home-field advantage, remained at the bottom. As a single military force, their overall strength was insufficient.
Though rankings were settled, the Beihai Fleet—aligned with the Federation and War God Hall—still secured a minimal share of resources.
Just as all sides prepared to depart and begin resource allocation and mining operations, an anomaly erupted.
The entire Demon Island shuddered violently.
Then—without warning—a terrifying tide of mixed, pure Life energy and violent Destruction energy surged from deep within the island, especially from the newly excavated mine shafts.
Its intensity rivaled a once-in-a-century Energy Tide!
"Watch out!"
"Energy Tide! Defend yourselves!"
The leaders and experts of various forces turned pale, crying out in alarm. They activated their strongest defenses—soul power shields, protective soul skills, Battle Armor hardening—while frantically evacuating the unarmed miners and engineers from the core zone.
One touch of the Destruction energy would kill a civilian instantly.
Chaos lasted over half an hour before the tide finally receded.
A few heavy mining machines too slow to retreat were reduced to molten slag. The survivors stood trembling, exchanging stunned glances.
"What the hell?" Feng Wuyu roared, his fiery beard bristling. "The Destruction energy was gone! How could such a powerful tide erupt again? If this happens twice more, how are we supposed to mine?"
Han Tianyi, the Illusion Brain Douluo, carefully sensed the lingering energy fluctuations, then studied the cracked ground and mine shafts.
"I believe," he said slowly, "this is not a resurgence. For a thousand years, Life and Destruction energies have seeped deep into the island's strata and ore veins."
"Our recent blasting shattered the geological structure. These buried energies found an escape route—and erupted all at once. Once this stored energy is exhausted, mining can resume normally."
Other Super Douluo released their spiritual power to verify his assessment.
The tide had been terrifying—but it was finite. It was not a resurgence, merely the release of accumulated reserves.
Yet fortune and misfortune are two sides of the same coin.
For Soul Masters, if one could withstand its destructive force, this mixed-energy tide was a rare opportunity—to temper the body, refine soul power, even glimpse profound truths of the soul.
The leaders conferred instantly. They agreed: all competitors would remain on the island. They would use this extraordinary tide for cultivation. And they would station themselves to guard against further surges.
Thus, Gu La, Tang Wulin, Gu Yue, and other young elites, under the protection of their elders, found zones where the energies balanced—or matched their attributes—and began to meditate.
But none—not even the Super Douluo leaders—could fathom the true scale of energy buried beneath Demon Island for a millennium.
The tide did not end.
It came in waves—each stronger than the last.
By the third day, the energy had grown so potent that even Super Douluo could feel tangible benefits from exposure.
Such a torrent of Life energy, radiating outward, was an irresistible lure to the soul beasts of the sea.
On the fourth day, as the cultivators awoke from their meditations, they found the ocean beside the island's Life-energy-rich side teeming with Sea soul beasts.
Strange, monstrous forms poured from the deep—each radiating ferocity, greedily absorbing the airborne Life essence. Worse—among them appeared the unmistakable presence of Demon Whale Sharks.
Everyone knew: such powerful Sea soul beasts were pack hunters. One meant a whole pod nearby.
Then, by midday, four terrifying auras rose from the deep—locking onto Demon Island.
A hundred-thousand-year Demon Whale Shark, thirty meters long, snow-white, its dorsal fin like a blade.
A hundred-thousand-year Ice Extreme Mystic Whale, mountain-sized, radiating Ultimate Ice cold.
And two others—equally potent, of hundred-thousand-year level: Giant Pincer Evil Demon Crab and Dark Demon Ghost Tentacle King.
Even more terrifying: the Giant Pincer Evil Demon Crab and Dark Demon Ghost Tentacle King's auras surpassed two hundred thousand years. The Ice Extreme Mystic Whale's power neared four hundred thousand years.
More sea soul beasts poured forth—so many they darkened the ocean surface.
The Life energy radiating from the island, amplified by the tidal surges, grew so intense that even the four great beasts struggled to restrain their subordinates' primal, uncontrollable hunger.
The human Super Douluo gathered in urgent council. All faces were grim.
In open battle, their elite fighters might win—but the Sea soul beasts were countless. A war would be a slaughter.
Even if they claimed priceless hundred-thousand-year soul rings and soul bones, the cost would be catastrophic: eternal enmity with the entire northern sea's soul beast clans, and unbearable losses. They had no authority to initiate such a war.
News reached the Federation's high command. After an emergency session, the hawkish faction prevailed:
"Did the dove faction block our move against Xingluo? Are we now to let sea soul beasts challenge us at our own doorstep? We must strike! Kill at least the two leading beasts—to terrify the seas!"
Orders were issued.
Beihai Fleet warships formed a perimeter, soul guidance cannons aimed at the water. The island's elite prepared for war.
The sea soul beast leaders sensed humanity's murderous intent—and the obstruction of their feeding. They themselves, having absorbed the scattered Life and Destruction energies, had entered a state of furious frenzy. Their power surged, their ferocity unleashed.
"ROOOOAAAAARRR!" "OOOOOHHHH!"
With earth-shattering roars, the sea soul beasts launched their full assault.
Countless beasts surged onto Demon Island like a black tide. Flying sea soul beasts circled overhead, spewing ice spears, venom, and energy beams.
"Form lines! Defend!"
"Prioritize killing the ten-thousand-year beasts first!"
The human Soul Masters stood firm. Battle formations snapped into place. soul rings flared like fireworks along the shoreline. soul skills exploded in dazzling, lethal brilliance.
Tang Wulin roared to the sky—a dragon's cry. Golden Dragon Shocks the Heavens activated. His body blazed golden, as if fused with the Golden Dragon King's essence. He became a living storm of destruction, charging into the horde. His Golden Dragon Claws shattered bone and scale alike—limbs flew as he carved a path of carnage.
He unleashed the Blue Silver Emperor. Countless vines, etched with golden runes, erupted from the ground—wrapping, piercing, devouring—clearing swathes of the enemy.
Gu Yue hovered midair like an Elemental Queen. She wielded all seven elements as casually as breathing. Ice walls blocked paths. Fire meteors rained down. Storms swept the battlefield. Spatial cuts sliced through elite soul beasts with silent, lethal precision.
Qing Liuli did not attack directly. Her Lotus Lantern Soul pulsed with light. She alternated between powerful group mind-soothing and piercing psychic screams, disrupting the Sea Beasts' coordination. Some even turned on each other in madness.
Bai Yuan became a vortex of the Abyss. His Devouring Domain expanded fully. Where he passed, sea soul beasts withered into dry husks, their energy absorbed—his own power growing stronger with each kill.
Bai Haoze and Bai Zhichen, the twin sisters, linked once more—their Instant Light Soul Fusion Technique.
Brilliant holy light interwove with spatial rifts, instantly clearing a wide swath of enemies. But the cost was immense—they needed to alternate rest cycles.
Other Soul Kings, Soul Emperors, and Soul Saints unleashed their own skills: Ning Xi's Star Tracking Compass predicted the tide's attack patterns, guiding defenses. Long Qingshan held the front line, his Coiling Dragon Shield, his Unyielding Domain growing stronger with every wound. Kai Xuan's mecha-armor unleashed a storm of soul guidance beams.
And Gu La?
He became an anomaly on the battlefield.
He did not fight on the front line. He stood safely in the rear.
His Celebi martial soul manifested. The Endless Forest Realm gently expanded, covering most of the human camp.
Within the realm, healing plants exploded into growth:
- Healing Dandelions showered glowing particles, mending wounds in seconds.
- Vital Ginseng emitted soothing aura, replenishing soul power and stamina.
- Ironheart Guardian Trees rose as living shields, deflecting arrows and energy blasts.
He was a tireless, ultimate support—dramatically boosting the human side's endurance and survival rate.
His shadow avatar flickered into danger zones, using Myriad Forms of the Forest to trap elite beasts in localized illusions, while precision plant weapons—thorns, vines, explosive spores—picked off the few that breached the line.
The human-beast war had erupted into full-scale carnage.
The coastline became a meat grinder. Sea soul beasts fell by the hundreds. Human soul masters were wounded, dragged back, healed by Gu La's plants—and sent back into battle.
Meanwhile, the four hundred-thousand-year-level beasts were engaged by the human Super Douluo—led by Feng Wuyu and Han Tianyi—in a higher-tier aerial and marine battle.
Thunder clashed with fire. Tsunamis slammed into armored rock. Roars and shrieks shook the heavens.
