Chapter 92 - Chapter 92: Journey to the Star Dou Forest

Two and a half days later…

The scorching noon sun blazed down relentlessly, rousing the drowsy from their slumber.

The crystalline dew that once clung to the leaves had long since evaporated under the oppressive heat, and the morning breeze had transformed into a stifling wave of warmth.

Atop the Hotel in Heaven Dou City, within the lavish Suite No. 4 where Fu Ye resided…

Fu Ye had already donned his gilded robe—ostensibly to assist Zhu Zhuqing in obtaining her third spirit ring.

'Ahem.'

In truth, it was merely a convenient excuse to prevent Tang San from absorbing the spirit ring and spirit bone of the Man-Faced Demon Spider.

[Author's Note: Don't ask why they're heading to the Star Dou Forest when they already possess a God-given spirit ring. The real reason? To eliminate the Man-Faced Demon Spider before Tang San can claim it—and to advance the plot while they're at it.]

Glancing back at Xiao Wu and the other two girls still fast asleep on the bed, Fu Ye sighed in exasperation.

'A Super Douluo and two low level masters, daring to challenge the dignity of a Quasi God?'

Honestly…

Just a few days ago, he'd pitied them—only for Xiao Wu to lead them into outright arrogance.

╮( ̄▽ ̄")╭

Star Dou Forest, a rest stop a hundred miles in.

Fu Ye and Zhu Zhuqing arrived just before dusk, descending gracefully at their destination.

If his predictions were correct, they'd soon encounter those mediocre troublemakers from Shrek Academy.

Yet, Fu Ye couldn't help but wonder—Shrek's original members - Tang San, Dai Mubai, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun - only numbered four.

'Where would they find the remaining three?'

'Was Shrek Academy doomed to disband before it even began?'

"Brother Fu Ye… about today…"

Zhu Zhuqing tugged lightly at his sleeve, her voice tinged with nervousness.

"Rest here tonight," Fu Ye reassured her. "Tomorrow, we'll hunt for your spirit ring."

He had grown fond of this little black cat—calm, determined, and relentless in her efforts to compensate for her lack of innate talent through sheer hard work.

In the SL 1, Zhu Zhuqing had been the most diligent among the Shrek Seven Monsters. Yet, without the Immortal Herb's boost, the one most likely to ascend to godhood aside from Tang San would've been Oscar.

After all, a food-type soul master with innate full soul power was no joke.

Not that Fu Ye cared. He had no intention of nurturing an unpredictable variable—especially a male one.

"Grrr…"

Zhu Zhuqing's stomach growled, her cheeks flushing as she lowered her head in embarrassment.

"Hungry?" Fu Ye chuckled, ruffling her hair. "Let's eat."

The establishment bore the marks of time—weathered wooden walls, missing roof tiles—yet it bustled with activity. Most patrons were soul masters, either hunting for spirit rings or trading beast parts for coin.

A few rough-hewn tables sat outside, where groups toasted under the shade. Inside, the decor was simple: wooden stools near the entrance, sturdier chairs by the windows.

The counter displayed rows of wine jars—proof that the owner knew where to splurge and where to save.

"Bring us your best dishes," Fu Ye tossed a bag of a thousand gold soul coins onto the counter. "And two rooms."

The attendant's eyes gleamed as he bowed obsequiously. "Right away, honored guest!"

Then, his gaze flicked to Zhu Zhuqing.

'Ah. A classic setup.'

"Apologies, but… we only have one deluxe suite left."

Fu Ye suppressed a smirk. 'This kid's got potential.'

"Only one? But we need two."

The attendant grinned. "Worry not! The suite is spacious—easily fits three or four!"

Fu Ye turned to Zhu Zhuqing with feigned concern.

"You need rest before tomorrow's hunt. The room is yours."

As a wise man once said: To feign retreat is to advance. A true master plays the long game.

"Ah—" Zhu Zhuqing hesitated, then blurted, "We… can share. The journey's been hard on you too."

'Skip…skip.'

The attendant and Fu Ye exchanged a knowing glance.

Attendant: Boss, I've done my part.

Fu Ye: Well played, kid.

As Fu Ye and Zhu Zhuqing waited for their meal, a commotion erupted at the entrance.

"Tang San! What's wrong with your brother? First, he made you carry him the whole way, and now—"

Fu Ye didn't need to look to know—Shrek's misfits had arrived.

Turning, Fu Ye saw Flender, Zhao Wuji, Dai Mubai, Ma Hongjun, Oscar, Tang San… and Tang Chuan?

'Wait. Tang Chuan?"

'The God King's reincarnation—who'd been a medicine slave in Dugu Bo's herb garden—was back?'

'Had Tang Hao broken him out?'

A quick scan confirmed it—the venom markings on Tang Chuan's forehead were gone.

But it didn't matter.

Whether it was Tang Chuan, Tang San, or even the Divine Realm itself—none posed a threat to Fu Ye.

All he wanted was to enjoy his carefree days without interference from self-righteous fools… or so-called gods.

"Brother, just confess," Tang San said, voice dripping with false concern. "Two and a half years gone, covered in scars—let Dean Flender and Teacher Zhao help you."

His words were a knife to Tang Chuan's heart, ripping open old wounds.

'Confess?'

'HOW COULD I?!'

Those wretched monkeys, those scum, those three abominations—and Dugu Bo, who'd imprisoned him for two torturous years!

He HATED them.

He HATED THEM ALL!
