Chapter 69 - Please, Stop Pretending!

If you bought this villa, What am I supposed to do?"

Jessica, the sales manager, was momentarily stunned by his words, not quite understanding his meaning.

"Jessica, I just said that if Mr.Carter doesn't buy this villa by tomorrow, I'll resign. But if he does buy it, what are you going to do?" Caroline instantly grasped Brentley's implication and shouted at Jessica with confidence.

Jessica knew that Caroline wanted to make a bet with her, but she hesitated. Unlike Caroline, she wasn't entirely sure because she didn't know Brentley at all.

So, Jessica turned to Wynter and asked softly, "Wynter, are you sure this guy is just a broke loser?" "Don't worry, cousin. He's definitely a broke loser!"

"At the bar, all his classmates exposed him. If it weren't for them, I would have been fooled by Brentley Carter. He even admitted that everything his classmates said was true! How could he possibly afford a villa?"

Wynter's tone was full of certainty.

Hearing Wynter's words, Jessica felt more confident. She trusted her cousin wouldn't lie to her. Since she had said so, he must be a poor student who lived off collecting trash. Seven million dollars for a villa was an astronomical figure for someone like him. How could he possibly come up with that kind of money?

"Caroline, if this broke kid can buy this villa, I'll resign. Is that good enough for you?"

"Deal!" Caroline responded.

Caroline nodded directly and continued, "Then we'll see you tomorrow, Let's go!"

"No need to wait until tomorrow. I can buy this villa today!" Brentley replied calmly. He then reached for his phone and dialed Mr. Griffin's number.

Originally, Brentley had planned to come back tomorrow with his card to purchase the villa. However, as he was about to leave, he unexpectedly ran into Wynter, whose mocking remarks made him very uncomfortable.

Despite the incident at the bar, which had already ruined her impression of him, Brentley knew there was no chance for them to get along anymore. But he felt that even if he was just a poor guy picking up trash, Wynter had no right to be so harsh and kick him while he was down.

Brentley had always been reluctant to reveal his true identity, but that didn't mean he would let anyone bully him. So, he decided to buy the villa right then and there, to slap Wynter and Jessica in the face.

"Young Master Carter!" Mr.Griffin quickly answered the call, his tone exceptionally respectful. "Griffin, I need seven million Four hundred dollars right now," Brentley said, his face expressionless.

"Young Master Carter, I'm currently on a business trip abroad. If you give me your address, I'll have someone from the bank deliver a check to you immediately. You can fill in the amount as you need," Griffin responded promptly.

"I'm at the sales office of Magnolia Estate," Brentley replied, glancing up at the name of the sales office. "Alright, I'll get the bank to send someone over right away!" he replied softly.

Without any further words, Brentley hung up the phone.

In fact, Brentley could have easily gone home with Caroline to get the bank card, but he found it too troublesome. It was much simpler to have Griffin's people bring the money over. Besides, if Brentley left now, Wynter and Jessica would probably leave too. Brentley believed that if you were going to make a statement, you had to do it when the other party was at their most arrogant, not wait until tomorrow.

"The bank will send the money over soon. Just wait a bit," Brentley said softly to Caroline after hanging up the phone.

"Okay, Mr. Carter!" Caroline nodded quickly, then shot a provocative look at Jessica and Wynter standing not far away.

Caroline knew very well who Brentley was and what his background entailed. If Brentley said the money was coming, then it was definitely coming. She was confident that she would win today.

Jessica and Wynter, on the other hand, looked puzzled. They knew Brentley was just a poor guy, but his calm demeanor and the way he spoke on the phone made them doubt their assumptions.

"Wynter, could Brentley actually be a rich kid? Are you sure you didn't make a mistake?" Jessica asked Wynter nervously. This job was very important to her, and she didn't want to lose it over something like this.

"Don't worry, cousin. At the bar, it was Brentley's ex-girlfriend who exposed him. Brentley even admitted to me that he's just a poor loser. He's pretending to be a rich kid to fool people, and Caroline must have been tricked by him!" Wynter replied confidently. She couldn't believe Brentley could actually afford such an expensive villa.

"But if Brentley is really lying, why hasn't he left yet?" Jessica asked, frowning.

"Maybe he's just trying to make his act more convincing!" Wynter replied, pouting. She continued, "Cousin, I think either Brentley will say that the bank people can't make it, or he'll bring someone to play along with his act. But no matter what, there's no way he can actually buy this villa. Don't worry!"

"That's good to hear..." Jessica's expression visibly relaxed after hearing Wynter's words.

The sales assistants in the showroom gathered around Jessica, clearly believing Wynter's assessment. They too thought there was no way Brentley could afford the villa.

Time flew by, and more than half an hour passed. But the bank representatives still hadn't shown up with the money for Brentley.

Jessica seemed to grow impatient. She stepped forward and shouted at Brentley, "Hey kid, when exactly are your people bringing the money? How much longer do we have to wait?"

"Brentley, please stop pretending. Everyone knows you can't afford this villa. Are you going to tell us the bank people aren't coming?" Wynter added, looking at Brentley.

Brentley slowly lifted his head and glanced at Wynter. Just then, a series of hurried footsteps echoed from the showroom entrance.

A young man in a black suit quickly walked in, his expression anxious. "Excuse me, who here is Brentley Carter, Young Master Carter?"

Everyone froze upon hearing the young man's words.
