The appearance of Kurosaki Ichigo once again shattered the silence around the Palace of Confession.
Abarai Renji stared at the figure rushing toward him, disbelief tightening his chest. Even if he had been told, he would never have believed it. Ichigo had broken into Seireitei, reached the heights of Sōkyoku Hill, and judging from his pace, it looked as if he had not faced many battles along the way.
Could Ichigo already have grown this strong?
"Ryoka…"
The voice behind Renji was low and heavy, like a great bell. His body stiffened as he realized the gravity of the situation. His escort was none other than Komamura Sajin, the captain of the Seventh Division.
"The Head Captain has ordered me to complete this task. I will give everything to see it done. No matter who it is, I will not allow anyone to take you away."
The giant figure stepped forward, his body like a wall of fur and steel, radiating sheer strength and blood-stirring pressure.
Ichigo launched forward with Shunpo, surging up the high ground toward the guards of the Palace. Zangetsu was already in hand, spiritual energy crackling violently around its length. The clash was brief and decisive; in only a few breaths the guards lay fallen. None were dead—Ichigo had held fast to his vow. He had come to save, not to kill. Even against Seireitei's jailers, he had not once abandoned his principle.
"Impressive strength."
Komamura stood on the rope bridge, towering, suffocating in sheer presence. Facing this giant wolf was like staring at an unstoppable force carved of muscle and resolve.
"But strength alone will not be enough. I will never allow you to take Abarai Renji away."
He unsheathed his Zanpakutō, steel gleaming under the sun, and leveled the blade at Ichigo.
"Unless you step over my corpse."
Before the clash began, a wave of pressure erupted across Seireitei. Spiritual energy tore through the sky, flattening buildings as though struck by a falling meteor. The earth shook violently as the Reiatsu storm swept outward.
"…That is…"
Komamura's eyes turned toward the Ninth Division barracks.
"Kaname."
The mixed energies roiling in the distance carried the unmistakable signature of his friend Tousen Kaname. A Shinigami captain's perception was sharp, but Komamura's senses, sharpened by his beastly nature, were even keener.
"Ryoka, your crimes against Seireitei will lead only to your downfall," Komamura rumbled, though his focus lingered uneasily on the distant upheaval. The battle unfolding there could reshape Seireitei itself.
Ichigo's brow furrowed, confusion flashing across his face.
"That spiritual pressure… both sides are fighting. But Uryū and the others should all have been captured by now."
Komamura's expression shifted, realizing the weight of what those words implied.
"What in the world is happening…?"
At the Ninth Division headquarters, two figures clashed in a storm of steel and Reiatsu. Each strike was devastating, each collision of Zanpakutō shattering the streets.
"So… you finally show your true face."
Tousen Kaname's deep voice carried across the ruins, his dark skin glistening with sweat beneath his visor.
"What?"
Hirako Shinji smirked, white teeth flashing as his blade whirled. His smile was sharp, mocking, his laughter edged with challenge.
"What are you babbling about? I've endured for too long to let you lecture me. You know better than anyone what I stand for!" His voice sharpened, cutting like his blade. "Tousen Kaname!"
Steel howled as Shinji's strike split the street apart. Tousen, though blind, moved with flawless precision, perceiving the world through senses beyond sight.
"What you have chosen… is injustice," he said calmly, steady hand resting on the guard of his sword. "And the decision of Captain Moyu has only brought ruin to Seireitei."
With that, Tousen lifted his Zanpakutō.
"Cry, Suzumushi."
The air filled with shrill vibrations, countless tones like insects buzzing in the skull, threatening to overwhelm the senses.
Shinji only grinned wider.
"Just Shikai? You'll have to do better than that. That trick won't work on me."
His body blurred with Shunpo, his blade raised high as he closed in on Tousen.
"If that's all you've got, then I'll cut you down right here… because I still have a score to settle with that bastard Aizen!"
Steel met steel in a deafening clang, shockwaves scattering fragments of Reiatsu through the streets.
"Suzumushi, Second Movement… Red Crescent."
Tousen's blade sang, unleashing a storm of vibrating blades that swarmed like locusts, consuming everything in their path.
"Die."
The clash drew wide eyes from Ninth Division members gathered in fear and awe. They whispered among themselves, yet none could intervene.
Above them, two figures watched unseen.
"Hey, Captain Aizen." Ichimaru Gin's smile was razor-thin, his eyes narrow slits of mockery. "Isn't it a little cold, leaving Captain Tousen to fend for himself like this?"
Aizen's gaze never wavered from the battle below. His voice was calm, layered with quiet amusement.
"Gin, are you questioning me?"
Still smiling, Ichimaru bowed slightly, his tone mocking and deferential all at once.
"Not questioning. Just… curious."
Aizen's eyes deepened, his expression unreadable.
"Justice has already been carried out. From the moment he failed to fulfill my order, his path was sealed."
