"You want me to go to Hueco Mundo to find out why the Forest of Menos Grande is expanding?!" Moyu stared at Urahara Kisuke, astonishment written all over his face. Had scientific research finally broken his brain? Where did this man get such honeyed confidence?
Forget the fact that they weren't even on the same side—Urahara was a fugitive, disgraced by Seireitei, and now he wanted to command someone like Moyu, who was still part of an organized chain of command? Had a Gillian chewed through his sanity?
"Sir, Mr. Moyu, don't be so heartless!" Urahara pleaded with a theatrical flair. Typical—few researchers were truly sane. He leaned in close, speaking in a creepy tone that made the serious proposal sound like a ghost story. "Didn't we once share a roof? Live under the same sky? Surely, you're not that cruel..."
Zila—! A spark of electricity flared in the air, silencing him instantly.
"Well... truthfully, the Black Cavity Piercing Gate isn't fully developed yet," Urahara admitted with a sheepish smile, flipping moods like turning a page. "The last time I entered Hueco Mundo… was more of a lucky accident." He scratched his head, then explained more seriously, "I had to suppress my Reiatsu and carefully navigate the old prototype of the gate. Even then, it was a mess. I nearly ran into a dozen surprises. If my luck had faltered for even a moment, you might never have seen me again."
Moyu understood the implications. Ordinary dimensional gates couldn't withstand the stress of captain-level Reiatsu. Passing through one without precise calibration was dangerous enough, but worse than that—getting lost in the Dangai or caught in a space fold could mean total erasure. And Black Cavities were even more complex, forcibly tearing through the fabric of space using sheer Reiatsu, demanding enormous control and precision.
Urahara exhaled slowly. "Mr. Moyu, you understand. Investigating the Forest of Menos Grande isn't just a research venture… it's about preventing a global disaster. If this continues unchecked, we're talking world-scale collapse."
Moyu shot him a deadpan look. That might work on others, but he knew better. The Royal Guard existed; even if things escalated, they would never allow catastrophe on such a scale. Whatever spawned from the Forest of Menos Grande, no matter how numerous, would still be Hollows—and cannon fodder at that. This world didn't change through quantity. It changed through power. No matter how many Gillians there were, any individual seated under the heavens could erase them in a breath.
Urahara's real motive clearly went deeper.
Still, a trip to Hueco Mundo wasn't out of the question. As long as the Espada were avoided, the realm posed no serious threat. In fact, such a mission could accelerate Moyu's combat growth—particularly in Zanjutsu and Shunpō training.
So… "I'll accept your request," Moyu said, voice calm and measured. "But what do I get out of it?" Going for free wasn't an option. Not with someone like Urahara Kisuke. Give him a finger, and he'd pull the whole arm. You had to negotiate.
"Ah…" Urahara looked thoughtful. Moyu's easy acceptance had caught him slightly off guard. He had initially considered going with the Visoreds, but Moyu's power level far outclassed theirs. If the Visoreds were six-car horsepower, Moyu was sixty—and rising.
But compensation was tricky. He had a lot of valuable items, but most were either too risky or unstable to entrust. As for Kidō, Moyu had unrestricted access to Soul Society's archives.
"Ah—right!" Urahara's eyes lit up with inspiration. "When you return from Hueco Mundo, I'll give you a Spirit Cloak."
Moyu tilted his head. One of Urahara's most significant inventions—the Spirit Mask Cloak. It appeared as a heavy black mantle, capable of entirely concealing the wearer's Reiatsu. When paired with Bakudō #26: Kyokko (Curved Light), it granted true invisibility. Aizen had used this very item to carry out some of his most deceptive operations—both in Soul Society and the living world.
"You'll love it. I promise," Urahara beamed.
"...Alright. In that case, I accept." Moyu's tone remained composed, but inwardly, his curiosity about Hueco Mundo had grown. Given the opportunity to enter it safely—and return with something of real value—it was worth the risk. As for danger? He wasn't concerned.

Underground Lab – Secret Base
A massive gate, humming with unstable energy, loomed before them: the Black Cavity Piercing Gate. Because it was still incomplete, Urahara had to maintain its stability externally—while Moyu would journey through alone.
"Ha! I knew you weren't heartless!" a sudden thud slammed into his shoulder.
Moyu gritted his teeth, expression twisting. If not for the "spiritual airbag" he instinctively applied, he was sure something would've cracked. Turning his head, he found Shihōin Yoruichi smiling mischievously, one arm around his shoulder.
"…You're going to Hueco Mundo too?" he asked through clenched teeth.
Yoruichi raised an eyebrow and answered plainly, "This affects the safety of the entire world. You think I'd just sit back and let you hog the spotlight? Besides… I'm here to keep you company."
Moyu sighed. This Hueco Mundo trip was already starting to feel like a pain.
The gate flared open—space within it swirling, collapsing and reforming like a living vortex. The spiritual pressure emitted from the opening would've shredded an ordinary soul into pieces. But for these two, it was nothing.
Urahara watched them both. As Moyu and Yoruichi locked eyes, they nodded—and stepped into the gate. The glow of the vortex swallowed them whole.
Alone now, Urahara adjusted his hat, lowering the brim until shadows veiled his gaze.
"…Mr. Moyu… I hope this gamble pays off."
