Chapter 33 - 32

The part he had worked tirelessly to acquire and prove that he was worthy of it all of his life. A cold expression was worn over his noble features. He wore an all-black suit. On the left side of his coat hung foreseeable metal to suit was crisp his black boots were shiny after assessing himself one more time the formidable Alpha left his apartment and went to his father's study. His father was standing with his bag towards him gazing out of the window with theirs.

Super hearing Randolf couldn't make out what exactly had his father's attention. He cleared his throat.

"You didn't have to do that, son. I could smell and hear you the moment you came up the stairs." He turned around then and looked at his son.

Adolf could see his son felt and looked much better. It calmed it hard to see him standing in front of him. He looked the same but Adolf could tell something was different, different for his son. Something was different for Adolf as well. He hadn't realized how much he had been pushing his son and everyone around him away because of his personal pain and injury and stubbornness.

When Adolf received the news, his son had gone missing and was possibly dead. He had thought it was the end for his bloodline and the well-being of his kind. He was happy to see his son. Indeed.

"Father, I have come up with a plan."

"Excellent, my boy. What is it ?"

" I will be speaking both to the Mayor and the Governor of the island, Mr. Gould and Mr. Bailey."

Adolf was very familiar with the two men.

He had given him his approval when the humans of the island voted for them. Mr. Bailey was the governor of the island for the past decade. He talked entirely too much but was harmless Mr. Gould, the newly appointed mayor was known to frequent the islands brothel as well as settle disputes when needed. Adolf's, curiosity was piqued when Randolf told him.

"What would you need my assistance for, son? You sound like you have this under control."

"Father, I need you to stay in here. When they enter, just be yourself and back me on everything I say."

"Alright," he agreed with no hesitation.

As if on cue, there was a knock on the door. It opened. It was Whitly. "Pardon my intrusion. A Governor Bailey and a Mayor Gould are here." He announced.

"Yes, Whitly. Send them in." Adolf off instructed.

Whitly did as he was told.

The two men entered the study. Both were dressed for their station. Randolf could smell their fear. Neither one was expecting this meeting. He had caught them by surprise.

"Good day to you, Lord Canus." The governor greeted Adolf.

Adolf mimicked his son and said nothing to the men. He wore a stone face expression just like his son.

"Sit down," Randolf told them from behind, making both men jump at his directive. Mr. Gould and Mr. Bailey immediately sat in the two chairs in front of his father's large desk. Randolf continued, " You enter this Manor with the notion that my father invited you here. He did not. I did. You also seem to be under the impression that my father is still in charge? He is not. I am." His words were precise and held a sharp edge to them.

Both men seem to understand what he meant. "A-Apologies, my lord." Mr. Gould said.

"Don't apologize for that. Apologize for letting a monster terrorize My island."

Both men's eyes bugged out of their heads at his harsh tone and cruel words. Knowing this man knew what was going on on the island, and they knew nothing about him, it terrified them.

Mr. Bailey began to fidget and then spoke, "We would never purposely offend. We truly had no idea. H-he truly caught all of us by surprise. The monster continues to elude us-"

"Horseshit!" Randolf interrupted him and threw Mr. Bailey off. He continued, "Eludes you. You all are either frightened of him or secretly wish you could do the same thing he is doing. I am the one you should be frightened of." Randolf openly sneered at them both, making them visibly shrink in their seats.

"We will do whatever you ask us. W-What would you have us do?" Mr. Gould asked, now frightened for his very life.

"I want you to help me find someone before he does. Once you do bring her to me. Also, when the time comes, there will be no human interference. The Islanders need to openly denounce Amaruq, or I will make what he is currently doing to my island look like child's play." Randolf knew his words sounded cruel. He knew they would iilicit a response he needed in order for his plan to work.

Both men were absolutely terrified by him and his intense presence. When he had said all of those brutal things his voice was steady and strong.

"We will think-" Mr. Bailey Started.

He was abruptly interrupted by Adolf. His voice echoed through the large room. "It is done. Did you not hear my son? Now, go!" He shouted.

Randolf was pleasantly surprised by his father's performance. The two men stood up and quickly exited the study.

Adolf waited a few seconds before speaking. "I think this plan of yours just might work,my boy..."

| SYLVIE |

Sylvie had been very careful not to be seen when she stepped foot into the town. It was a fairly easy feat, considering all the chaos that was currently taking place. There were distant screams. Families were trying to escape their fiery homes as the able-bodied men of the town, laboriously carried buckets of water, trying to maintain the houses that were not on fire by dousing the walls with water and putting out some of the fires that had been started.

Sylvie wore a wool scarf around her face that acted like a mask and helped her breathe better. It also concealed her identity. The black smoke had once again covered up the sun. Sylvie quickly walked in the direction of Caleb's home. When she got there, she stopped in her tracks. She was shocked and terrified to see his home was in flames.

Sylvie looked around then and saw no sign of Caleb's family. A giant knot of worry began to form in the pit of her stomach. Where were Caleb and his family? Were they inside? Did Amamruq and her mother kill them?

Sylvie watched the wood frame topple within itself as the fire raged on. Sylvie realized her answers would not come from searching for Caleb. It could only come from her mother and the monster, Amaruq. She had been foolish to leave her position of safety but she did not regret it.

At least she saw firsthand the total destruction and havoc they were setting on the islanders. Sylvie knew she had to leave. She turned around and saw two large men standing directly behind her. She was surprised she hadn't heard them walk up on her. Their faces were emotionless.

She surveyed their attire and noticed they didn't dress like any of the locals here. One began to speak in a calm voice. "Come with us." He said.

Sylvie slowly backed away from his calm words. Who were they? What did they want with her? She stopped backing up when she realized she was too close to the burning house.

"I told you she wouldn't just come. We should have just knocked her out." She heard the other man mumble, as he rolled his eyes in annoyance.

Sylvie was thinking of just running past them since they seemed distracted. Just as she had thought about what she wanted to do, one of them was already in front of her with her wrist in his ironclad grip. He turned his back to her and began dragging her.

"Let me go!" She yelled.

There was no use. He would not let her go.

The other man looked on, not interfering. Sylvie fought harder. With her left hand, she struck him hard on the face.

"Ouch!" He cried out.

He instinctively released her wrists. Sylvie bolted, running as fast as she could down the long dirt path leading to the town road. She made it halfway there when she heard a loud whirring noise. Seconds later, something got tangled in her legs, making her trip up and fall, knocking herself unconscious.

"Alpha Randolf is gonna be pissed if she is too beat up," Bayle said to Fenwick.

"Well, what does he expect! We're kidnappin' the poor girl. She has no idea what we're doing this for."

"That's just it. I don't think Alpha Randolph cares. As long as she is alive. You heard Alpha Adolf. This Island will be a warzone in less than three days. We need to get ourselves out of here now." Fenwick said, then untied her legs and put the Bolas back in his satchel.

Bayle said no more. He picked up an unconscious Sylvie and made their escape off the burning Island...
