"Yes. Yes. Okay. Alright."
New Cap talked to someone on phone, who I assume is the President.
"Alright kid. You can help out under my provision. But since you are a minor, hide your face with a mask or something. You need to keep your Identity a secret."
He clearly didn't seem to like the idea of a minor joining his team, even if a super-powered one.
But I guess Ross wants more information on Mutants and is willing to do illegal things. You can always count on Ross for that.
"Thanks for letting me join the team."
I bowed, and used my handkerchief to cover my face.
"Is it good enough?"
Walker looked at Lamar, and both of them sighed.
"I don't know why we have to babysit during this mission."
"How about you test me then?"
I challenge Lamar.
"Alright kid. I won't go easy on you, since you got superpowers and all. Come with me."
They led me to a deserted place, and we got ready to have a fight.
"Should we really be doing this?"
"Don't worry John. It's just to test that she is ready. Wouldn't want her dying on us."
"Alright. Begin!"
I used Telekinesis to throw Lamar very high into the air.
"I win."
As Lamar was falling back to the ground with a high chance of death, I made a telekinetic slide to reduce his speed gradually instead of abruptly, and then gently placed him back on the ground.
Lamar sighed.
"Alright. You win."
So, I officially joined the team.
----------------------
Entering their SUV, they told me briefly about Flag-smashers. About when and where they have carried out attacks, how many people they have killed.
"By the way, we didn't recover your family's body from your house. Just the terrorist whose head looked like..."
"I took their bodies to a secure location. Wouldn't want government or terrorists to get their hands on any sort of DNA related to me.
And I killed that terrorist as he blew up my home just as I arrived back to meet my family after the Blip."
"I see."
I guess they are trying to get more information about me. Afterall, I might as well be a threat to them.
I can certainly convince them that I am completely harmless, but I wouldn't brainwash the good guys. I am better than Xavier.
"If you don't trust me, I can have Dr Strange vouch for me."
"Nah. There's no need for that. I can see in your eyes that you want revenge on the Flag-smashers. That's enough. We are low on manpower as it is."
Cap reassured me that he wasn't suspicious enough of me to jeopardize the mission.
Maybe my confidence of getting Dr Strange to vouch for me was enough?
As Lamar was driving, Cap was searching about news of Falcon.
"We are going to get help from Falcon and a super-soldier from past."
Cap told me as he caught me peeking from the back seat to his phone.
Honestly, I liked Falcon and Bucky uptil Infinity War.
They didn't have much to do in Endgame except the final battle against Thanos and his army.
But after that, the writing got terrible.
I haven't watched much after Endgame aside from YouTube videos, and the writing made Falcon from being a nice military guy who helped Captain America fight HYDRA, to a typical victimized black guy from any cliche horrible movie.
I just hope that he isn't that insufferable now, since its clearly a different universe from MCU post-Endgame.
---------------------
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
"Have you ever jumped on a live grenade?"
"Actually 3 times."
Falcon is being incredibly annoying. While Bucky is mostly silent, he is being annoying too.
They are trying so hard to disapprove John Walker as Captain America.
It hasn't been even 2 minutes since we met.
"Why are you taking a kid on such dangerous mission?"
"Well, I don't want to. But she's powerful. And orders from the President."
"Captain America broke the rules and orders to do the right thing."
He muttered, and the tension was becoming more apparent.
"Falcon, can you give me the number of Hulk? I am a big fan of his for bringing back my family. I would love to have his autograph. Maybe get his help in controlling my power as well?"
Falcon and Bucky went deathly silent.
"Don't tell me..."
"No no no. I don't turn into a rampaging green superhuman. I don't think I am that strong. It's just good old telekinesis.
That I am going to use to destroy this terrorist organisation which killed my family. So, it will be best for everyone that you don't cause any problems. Every second you are wasting here is leading to innocent people dying.
You gave up the SHIELD because you knew that you don't deserve it. I guess you should give up being an Avenger too, since you don't seem to know the T of Teamwork!
Get your ass in the car and stop causing trouble for the real heroes who are actually trying to get things done!"
...I know I am Phoenix's avatar/host whatever, but I guess I really have a talent for burns.
Falcon went quiet and speechless, and awkwardly got into the car.
Bucky still had his depressed face, and after glancing at the Shield in Waller's hand, he also got into the car.
Both Walker and Lamar stared at me in disbelief of being so rude to an Avenger.
I just rolled my eyes and went inside the car, sitting beside Bucky and wondering about what will be the effect of Telekinesis on his vibranium arm.
Captain America and his friend got into the car, and our drive to near a suspected terrorist hideout started.
And then 10 minutes later, we got stuck in traffic.
I sighed and then got excited as I realised something.
"Who wants to fly?"
