Chapter 4 - New Skills

[Main Quest Received: Build An Empire]

"Are you fucking kidding me?! Build an empire? How the hell am I supposed to do that?"

[Time limit: None]

[The Domination System exists to aid the host in CONQUERING & DOMINATING the world of Elysia...]

[As the host, establishing an empire is only natural as a starting point...]

"What have I gotten myself into?" Alexander groaned, rubbing the back of his head.

At least, there was no time limit for the quest. He needed to stay alive in order to accomplish the given quest…

So getting out of here was his top priority right now.

The battle isn't over yet. With the enemy camp blocking his path of escape he had no choice but to head back to his camp.

He was lucky to have awakened towards the end of the battle. Staring around the vast field, a chilling realisation hit him—he was the only survivor.

Originally in the novel, the Eternal Dynasty had lost this skirmish, but his presence had slightly altered the outcome.

Still it wasn't a main battle. It was more like an ambush targeting the Seventh Prince and they had been successful in their attack.

But, that had led to him inhabiting this body.

Scratching his head, Alex made his way back. The battle was far from over and he needed to be read... to survive.

[Rewards Processed!]

[Rewards: Blood storage, Blood extraction spell, five ruinic stones, 500 Domination points]

[Blood storage: Enables the host to store successful Blood summons and extracted blood]

Pheew.

"At least I get to keep them hidden." Alex muttered. He was already wondering what to do with the summons, but the spell seemed perfect for it.

"Let's see the next one!"

[Blood Extraction: Allows the host to extract the blood from fallen enemies and can be used in blood summoning for current or future use. Stored blood goes into blood storage]

Now summoning the Blood Storage spell, two tabs appeared.

[Blood summons: 0/100] [Blood Extracted: Nil]

"Have a storage for over a hundred summons yet only allowed to create twenty summons." Alexander grumbled as he stored the blood summons.

He watched as they turned into crimson wisps before entering his right hand.

Staring at the battlefield for the last time his eyes lit up. "The Blood Extraction spell! Jackpot!"

He couldn't let this opportunity slide. The battlefield, full of corpses and blood. This was the perfect test ground for the spell!

"Blood Extraction!"

Activating the spell, the grimoire glowed as red runic symbols formed on the next page. Alexander could feel knowledge of the spell pour into his mind.

Stretching forth his hand, he watched as the blood around him rose, transforming into red mist that flowed into his body. The Blood Storage began to fill.

"It seems my level his low, and the spell his also limited to a specific range."

He spent the next minutes extracting enough blood that would serve him for his test later on.

His eyes shone in excitement as he watched the [Blood extracted] tab increase.

Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through his chest.

[Warning! Host has reached the maximum amount of blood he can extract. Further use may cause adverse effects]

"Figures…"

"Low level perks again, huh?" He muttered, deactivating the spell. But anyway, he had harvested enough to be used for his experiment.

[Blood Summons: 20/100]

[Blood Extracted: 300/300 units]

From the spell usage, he discovered two things: the spell couldn't fully drain the blood from his intended target.

Secondly, the spell effect and range were low, too low for his liking.

But, his journey just started, right? He was sure that as he advanced and grew stronger, the spells he got would also evolve and grow powerful.

With a satisfied sigh, he began advancing back.

He had considered testing the summons now but realised it wasn't safe and… his stomach was growling.

Closing his eyes, he stretched out his palms towards the floating grimoire.

"Retract."

The grimoire flew towards his outstretched palm and shrank into a blood-red amulet. With it secured, he began his journey.

Running through the field didn't take much of his time before he entered into the forest linking to the camp.

Running through the dense forest, Alex noticed some interesting stuff. First of all, his speed was inhuman.

Judging by how the wind tore past him, he was sure his speed exceeded that of mundane humans.

And his senses. They were over the place. Every sound, scent and sight felt heightened.

Everything felt so surreal.

With his speed, it wasn't long before he saw red tents appearing on a distant hill.

Few minutes later...

Patting his clothes and then, taking a deep breathe, Alex continued forward.

"Hail the young Prince!"

Soldiers bowed respectfully as he passed–though a few smirked and didn't bother to salute properly.

"Ughh... this feels–"

"My Prince. The commander requests your presence."

A dark-haired soldier with a long scar approached and stood at his side.

"The commander…" He muttered under his breath. "Fine. Lead the way," he said with an expressionless face.

Though sore and hungry, he followed the man through the tent cluster to a large tent marked with a blood–soaked phoenix insignia.

"The Commander awaits you," the dark-haired guy said before walking away.

"What could go wrong?" With a shrug, Alexander walked in without hesitation. Despite his calm face, he was fully prepared for anything.

Inside was warm and well–furnished with a table covered in food and wine.

"Prince Ivan! Glad you're alive." A pale man with sharp green eyes and a commanding presence said.

Alexander felt the man's overwhelming presence. "This man... could kill me before I even blink." He thought with a gulp, a chill running down his spine.

Rising from his seat, the commander approached Alexander and led him to the table.

"I take it you were the only one survivor?"

"Yes. The others gave their lives for mine." Alexander said with a straight face.

"I see…" Commander Ren sighed. It's best you get enough rest. "To think they would risk it just to get you."

"Come on... eat first. Then tell me what happened."

***

After a long talk with Ren, Alexander returned to his tent. A modest but comfortable space fitted with just the right things.

Settling onto the bed, he called out his profile.
