Chapter 1 - CHAPTER ONE: EMPTY PAGES

Dear Diary,

Today was one of those days where everything felt like a struggle. It's been five years since Mom and Dad left me, and some days it still feels like yesterday. The pain doesn't fade; it just morphs into a dull ache that I've learned to live with.

I woke up early, before dawn, and the silence in this apartment was deafening. I used to love mornings with Mom making breakfast and Dad getting ready for work. Now, it's just me, alone with my thoughts.

Work was okay, I guess. Just the usual grind, trying to make ends meet. I'm determined to prove to myself that I can do this, that I don't need anyone else to survive. But sometimes, in the quiet moments, I wonder if it's all worth it.

I glance around my apartment, at the photos of us on the walls, and feel a pang in my chest. I miss them so much. I wish they were here to guide me, to offer advice, to just be here.

I know I'm strong, or at least I'm trying to be. But it's hard when the world feels like it's against you. I just wish I could fast-forward through these hard times and find my way to happiness.

Until then, I'll keep writing, keep fighting, and hope that someday, love will find its way to me.

Yours truly,

[Avery Reed]

Avery grabbed her purse and headed out the door, determined to find the perfect gift for her friend's birthday party that night. The sun was shining bright as she walked to the mall, casting a warm glow over the bustling streets.

As she turned the corner, Avery's eyes scanned the crowded corridors of the mall, her mind focused on finding the perfect gift. Suddenly, she wasn't watching where she was going and collided with a tall, broad-shouldered man.

"Oh no, I'm so sorry!" Avery exclaimed, her eyes locking onto the man's chiseled features.

Harrison, the CEO of Blackwood Enterprises, looked down at the apologetic young woman, his piercing blue eyes meeting hers. "No harm done," he said with a charming smile, his deep voice sending a flutter through Avery's chest.

Avery's cheeks flushed as she took in Harrison's tailored suit and confident demeanor. "I wasn't watching where I was going," she admitted, feeling a spark of attraction.

Harrison's gaze lingered on hers for a moment before he nodded and stepped aside. "I'm Harrison," he said, extending his hand.

Avery's hand touched his, sending a jolt of electricity through her body. "Avery," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

As they parted ways, Avery couldn't shake the feeling that their encounter was more than just a coincidence. The way Harrison's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled stayed with her, making her wonder if their paths would cross again .
