United States, New York.
Inside a towering skyscraper owned by the Umbrella Corporation.
Alexander Isaacs—the CEO of Umbrella and the ultimate antagonist of the Resident Evil world—was solemnly presenting his detailed plan to his subordinate and fellow high-ranking B.O.W. boss, Albert Wesker.
"In my view, the current structure of human society is bloated beyond reason. The majority of the population is useless and consumes far too many resources. This is undoubtedly a tremendous waste in a world with limited resources. My plan is to use the T-virus to quickly and efficiently eliminate them. Then, I'll assume the role of a savior and seize the newly freed resources."
"In this plan, the Hive will serve as our Noah's Ark. Deep within its chambers, our selected elites will be preserved in a state of suspended animation. Once the surface has been thoroughly cleansed, we will awaken and lead them in establishing a new human civilization—with Umbrella Corporation at its helm. And you, Albert Wesker, are a talented individual. You'll be one of us."
As he finished, Isaacs couldn't help but grow excited, the stern look on his face giving way to ambition.
Wesker responded with fanatical devotion, "It's an honor!"
Isaacs nodded in satisfaction.
"Good. You've been stationed in Raccoon City for a while now, serving as the captain of the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team at the R.P.D. Your performance has been excellent. Therefore, I've decided to grant you some time off. Use the next few days to rest and recover—prepare yourself for the more demanding tasks to come."
"Yes, sir!"
A few minutes later.
After Wesker left, Isaacs hummed a tune as he retrieved a bottle of red wine from the display shelf and poured himself a generous glass.
With evident ambition, he muttered to himself,
"The T-virus has already been released. Soon, this world will be reshaped according to my vision!"
At that moment, a screen slowly rose from his desk.
The figure of a young girl gradually appeared on it.
"Doctor, an unusual situation has occurred," she said.
Isaacs knew the girl's appearance—her expressions and even the slight furrow of her brows—looked lifelike, but in truth, she was just an advanced AI: the Red Queen.
He asked directly, "What is it?"
The Red Queen replied, "There have been numerous mutant animal attacks worldwide, including a mutated whale assaulting the Pacific Fleet."
"So soon?"
According to the projections, widespread outbreaks of mutant creatures and zombies should still be some time away.
Still, he wasn't entirely surprised. With so many infected subjects, variations were inevitable.
What caught his attention was the detail: "A mutant whale attacking the fleet? How many casualties were there?"
In his mind, such a creature—even if mutated—might cause a few unexpected deaths, but no more. After all, the Pacific Fleet was one of the United States' primary military forces. Not even Umbrella's top-tier bioweapon, the Tyrant, could go head-to-head with them and win.
Sending one in would be as good as sacrificing it.
The Red Queen responded, "The Seventh Fleet lost one-third of its forces. Even the USS Nimitz suffered a breach—over thirty meters in diameter. It's currently being towed by the USS Carl Vinson to the nearest dry dock."
"...?"
The glass of wine in Isaacs' hand froze mid-air.
Had he misheard?
He ordered, "Repeat that last report."
The Red Queen complied, "The Seventh Fleet has lost one-third of its forces. The USS Nimitz sustained a breach over thirty meters in diameter and is being towed by the USS Carl Vinson to the nearest port."
Isaacs, his expression filled with disbelief, muttered:
"Are you certain this was a mutant creature?. And not... aliens or something?"
Even he had no idea that a T-virus mutation could result in such power. The thought of a single organism taking out half a fleet was beyond anything he'd dreamed of.
In response to his doubt, the Red Queen said, "You can see for yourself."
With that, the screen shifted from her image to live satellite footage.
Ten seconds passed.
Isaacs watched with utter clarity as the mutant whale burst from the ocean, discarded most of its internal organs, and transformed part of its body into wings within mere seconds.
"What?"
"What on Earth is that thing?!"
Even from his experienced perspective, the creature's capabilities were downright absurd.
He couldn't begin to comprehend how any organism could undergo such extreme transformation in such a short span.
As the footage continued, showing the creature freely diving between sea and sky, smashing warships with sheer brute force, Isaacs began to suspect that the Red Queen was playing a science fiction movie just to mess with him.
No lifeform on Earth should be capable of this.
Sensing his disbelief, the Red Queen continued:
"All of this footage was captured by orbital satellites. It's entirely authentic. And these incidents are not isolated—numerous other mutant creatures are appearing across the globe."
As she spoke, the footage shifted again: a giant serpent as tall as a building, spiders the size of compact cars, a massive three-headed crow, and even a humanoid creature with four arms dashing across skyscrapers.
"The world is undergoing changes we do not yet understand—and heading toward an unknown future."
Faced with the Red Queen's warning, Isaacs fell silent in thought before finally issuing an order:
"Temporarily suspend the Ark Project. Spare no effort in collecting tissue samples from these mutant creatures. We must uncover the cause behind this."
"Yes, Doctor."
As the screen faded, Alexander Isaacs began pacing his office.
The unexpected situation had undeniably disrupted his plans.
Yet, after some contemplation, he ultimately came to a conclusion:
It's not a big problem.
They were just a bunch of powerful mutant creatures.
There was no way they could pose a fatal threat to the Umbrella Corporation.
Wild beasts—how could they possibly endanger the entirety of human civilization?
The thought made him laugh.
In fact, from his perspective, the situation might even be beneficial.
Their destructive rampage would inevitably open up new opportunities.
For instance, the weakened federal government might begin to crave more powerful and efficient weapons.
If Umbrella could seize these opportunities—or better yet, uncover the secrets behind these mutant creatures and weaponize them—
Then the corporation, which had been under growing pressure and restrictions from world governments, would once again rise to new heights.
With that realization, a confident smile spread across Alexander Isaacs' face.
It was as if the goddess of victory herself had smiled upon him.
He was overjoyed.
