Half a year passed in a flash.
The headquarters of the Assassin's League had been relocated from William Castle to a newly constructed base on the outskirts of New York. Over these months, they poured in ten times the budget and kept construction running 24/7. Thanks to Eastern efficiency, the base was completed in record time.
The entire Assassin's League was stunned when they saw it—none of them expected it to be built so quickly. Only Smith Dole had anticipated it.
During this period, the Power Level Detector had sold quite well, with a total of 13,253 units sold, earning the League a staggering $3,975,900,000—nearly 4 billion USD.
Most of the orders came from the military, CIA, FBI, and S.H.I.E.L.D., with the rest purchased by private organizations and wealthy individuals.
Tracing the orders revealed that aside from military contractors looking to reverse-engineer it, buyers included security firms (with sizeable purchases), medical groups, and communication giants—all trying to crack the tech.
But due to Bulma's anti-tamper explosion traps, these groups suffered heavy losses, yet still continued cautiously attempting to breach the system to obtain the underlying technology.
Meanwhile, it was private users who got truly creative. Some athletes began using the detector to monitor changes of just 0.1 in their power levels to adjust their physical condition. If the number dropped, they'd examine their diet, exercise, sleep, and overall health.
Since the number was based on bio-energy, an increase meant better health, and a drop indicated problems.
The device's communication capability also gained fame thanks to a rich young adventurer. While lost in a desert storm with no other working communication devices, he used the Power Level Detector to reach rescuers.
After he posted his survival story online, the device's powerful global communication feature went viral again, prompting more rich folks to purchase one as a precaution.
Naturally, internet influencers jumped on the trend. One popular streamer wandered around testing people's power levels—and actually found several individuals scoring above 8.0. But those people quickly disappeared from public view.
As for Nick Fury's "allies"—the Skrulls—they became even more cautious. Even with perfect disguises, they no longer dared appear in front of people wearing the detector. Exposure would instantly invite recruitment attempts—or worse, surveillance—from multiple factions.
Now, anyone with a power level above 6.0 was considered a rare and valuable asset.
According to intel from Natasha, S.H.I.E.L.D. had also made major gains during this time. The pervert known as Purple Man was detected due to his abnormal power level and captured after some sacrifice.
Initially, a few female agents under his control turned traitor on the spot, but S.H.I.E.L.D. eventually brought him in.
Where he was taken or how he was handled, Natasha hadn't been able to find out.
Aside from him, other individuals like Daredevil, Stick, and Jessica had also been discovered through the Power Level Detector and recruited into S.H.I.E.L.D.
Of course, S.H.I.E.L.D. wasn't the only one benefiting. The military and other agencies had their own successes in talent acquisition—but with its "we handle superhumans" banner, S.H.I.E.L.D. managed to poach quite a few promising candidates.
This led to inter-agency disputes and even reached the Security Council.
On another front, the excavation of the dragon bones had also made progress. When Smith Dole ran into a barrier of ki underground, he personally went in and stored the dragon bones in his system space—making them a hidden trump card for the Assassin's League.
…
Inside the Gravity Chamber.
Smith Dole finally stood within the gravity training room he'd long dreamed of. Over the last half year, without proper gravity training, his strength had improved slowly. He even had to suppress his ki and train while wearing weighted gear, sparring with Alexei just to squeeze out some gains.
After all that effort, his current power level reached 220—still short of elderly Demon King Piccolo.
His sparring partner, Alexei, had grown too. Now boasting a power level of 50, he had shed his fat and gained a physique on par with Captain America—becoming a true hunk.
Bulma tapped a few buttons on the console and said to Smith and the others:
"The enhanced gravity field is ready. It currently supports up to 10x Earth's gravity, with a minimum of 1.5x."
Smith frowned slightly. Ten times sounded like a lot, but for someone with Saiyan physiology, it wouldn't take long to adapt to.
At that moment, John Wick asked:
"Boss, can I use the gravity chamber to train too?"
Over this period, not just Wick, but many had grown stronger—reaching the cusp of human limits. John was stuck at 7.9, unable to go further.
Seeing the hopeful looks on everyone's faces, Smith smiled.
"Of course."
"Everyone can use it—but only when the chamber is available, and be cautious. Start with 1.5x gravity."
"If you feel unwell, exit immediately or have the staff shut it down."
Hearing Smith's approval, everyone lit up with excitement.
As the leader of the Assassin's League, Smith had told the core members that once they surpassed the human limit, he would begin teaching them how to control ki.
Having witnessed the power of ki, everyone longed to learn it themselves.
Smith stepped into the chamber, which was currently set to 1.5x Earth's gravity.
He moved his arms and legs—no real difference.
Then he called out:
"Bulma, increase it."
"2x gravity."
Then added:
"Let's jump straight to 5x."
Bulma didn't hesitate. She knew how strong Smith was and activated 5x gravity right away.
Now Smith finally felt some pressure—mostly due to the sudden shift. For reference, Planet Vegeta's gravity was 10x Earth's.
Within seconds, Smith had adapted to 5x gravity.
"Bulma, increase by 1x every 10 seconds. Raise it to the full 10x."
He knew that even Goku, with a power level of 8,000, had trained from 20x gravity all the way up to 100x—almost dying in the process.
For Smith, 10x gravity—simulating Planet Vegeta—should be safe.
Bulma started increasing the gravity incrementally.
Under the astonished gazes of everyone watching, Smith Dole began training.
By the time gravity reached 10x, Smith finally felt true pressure. His movements slowed, and the resistance began to weigh on him.
