Raj's Adam's apple bobbed as he nodded quickly. "Of course. Of course. Anything you need."
"Thank you, Raj." Eva said and left the office.
She turned down the hallway of the firm.
Lucas stood a few feet ahead, leaning against the wall. His suit jacket hung open, tie loosened just enough to suggest unease. His gaze found her instantly.
"Lucas?"
"Listen… I don't want to be caught in the middle of you and Daniel." He pushed a hand through his hair, exhaling heavily. "And honestly, I hate this, but he has been my friend for the longest time. Would the both of you just talk? Please."
Eva's brows pulled together. Beneath the controlled calm in her tone, her heart beat a little faster. "What's going on?" she asked, careful to keep her voice steady.
