"I told you last night we would be spending time together today," Alex said.
Eva's lips curled into a faint smirk. "You and I have differing views of what spending time together really means."
Alex's brow furrowed. "What's that supposed to mean?"
She rose from the chaise with a grace that belied the storm inside her, brushing past him just enough to make her perfume trail in his senses. She turned sharply to face him. "You tell me. Are you going to present me as a friend at the beach, then walk off with a random woman while I watch the ocean?"
"You are making a big deal out of last night," he said carefully, but his hands curled at his sides.
"A big deal?"
Alex stepped closer.
