The sky above them had split into two distinct realms. No longer ordinary or calm, it warped into something terrifying, each half devouring the other in a bizarre struggle.
Panic spread through the city as people stared upward, unable to understand what they were seeing, but knowing instinctively that nothing good would come of it.
A wave of divine force washed over the earth, heavy and suffocating. The sheer presence made their bodies twitch and their heads pound with splitting pain. Though they remained alive, the sensation was unbearable, as if their very souls were being crushed.
And then the horror deepened.
From within the distorted heavens, a massive black silhouette emerged, blotting out the light. To their eyes, it looked like a colossal ship.
But the ship was crumbling apart before them.
Metal tore and shattered, and countless steel fragments rained down from above like meteors, blazing with destructive force. The sight turned panic into chaos.
The people understood instantly—if those wreckages struck the city, it would not simply be discomfort anymore. Entire blocks would be annihilated. Families, homes, lives… gone in an instant.
"What's happening up there?!" one soldier on the ground barked into his communicator, eyes wide with alarm as he watched the devastation unfold.
The base command frowned as they received the live feed. None of them had an answer.
"I… don't know either," another officer muttered, shaken. "But this… it looks familiar. That ship—could it be… the Helicarrier?"
Whispers spread like wildfire.
Some of those present had once visited S.H.I.E.L.D.'s headquarters. They had seen the Helicarrier with their own eyes, towering above them as a symbol of security and power. That image now overlapped perfectly with the massive wreckage breaking apart in the heavens.
Gasps of realization echoed through the ranks.
"It's S.H.I.E.L.D.," one voice finally declared, trembling. "That's their ship! S.H.I.E.L.D. is falling apart!"
The statement sent shivers down spines. Until that moment, many only thought the falling shadow looked vaguely familiar. But when the name was spoken aloud, they recognized it too clearly.
The wreckage tearing through the sky was indeed S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Helicarrier.
"Why? How is this happening?!"
Soldiers and civilians alike were struck with disbelief. To them, S.H.I.E.L.D. was nearly untouchable, one of the most formidable organizations in the world. How could something so powerful collapse so suddenly, like a crumbling ruin?
No one could understand it. What had happened to S.H.I.E.L.D. to cause this destruction?
"Who cares how," a commander snapped, trying to regain control. "We need eyes on the situation now. Deploy scouts, gather intel!"
