Chapter 7 - Awake By Midnight

Jay, Carly and Grandma Susan finally came back home. The house was filled with silence.

Becky took Susan's wheel chair and guided her to her room, while Carly went with Jay upstairs.

"Its just three in the afternoon, and everywhere is dead silent. You know if Melody were here she would have done something."

Carly felt sorry for the family and thought of what she could do.

But before that she apologized to Jay for taking her sisters place and asked if they could be friends.

Jay smiled. "It was because of you, Melodys things are still in place. Why would we not be friends." Carly smiled this was the begining of a new friendship.

Jay apologized for embarrassing her before his board members, he would fix that mistake soon.

Carly went downstairs to Grandma Susans room, to share the good news with her.

" Its a good thing you came on your own my dear, I was at a loss of how to bring you here." Carly sat hurriedly wondering what could be so important.

"Lucy, Jays ex is back."

Grandma Susan gasped and whistled.

Those two together were more dangerous than all the criminals locked up in a cell.

" But you are in luck, because Jay does not love her at all. But there is one tiny irrelevant problem."

Becky and Susan told Carly how Jay and Lucy were bonded by a contract, Lucy was so desperate that she made Jay sign on paper that if they lived together for six months he would fall head over heels in love with her.

And Jay never says no to a challenge, of course he signed. What he did not know was there was an attachment.

He was giving away 50% percent shares of his company and rights to this mansion.

"That means she has the right to even sleep in Jays bedroom."

Carlys reaction did not sit well with the two friends.

Carly was not nervous at all, she knew that Jay only loved Melody.

No one could take Melody's place not even her presence in his bedroom.

Carly told Jay if Lucy's arrival and he was furious he started packing his bags.

"Once Lucy wakes up, she would unleash hell. She will not let me be in peace.

Oh Jay do I look beautiful, oh Jay can we go out?."

Carly laughed at Jays dramatic gestures.

"You need to trust in Melody, she will not allow Lucy to spend a peaceful night anywhere in this room."

Melody smiled and nodded.

Reah and Lucy woke around three in the morning, they were both stunned.

" Oh my goodness, how did we sleep for so long."

Lucy woke up, her head banging.

Reah remembered the tunnel, she had forgotten to feed the people. Well why did she care they were merely prisoners. But now her eyes could not drift to sleep anymore.

Reah and Lucy decided to spend the night in the club.

Jays mansion, was the biggest mansion in New York. Jay was an Indian who lived in New York for buisness.

Reahs room led to an underground tunnel, a secret she had kept for years.

Not even her best friend Lucy knew about it.

"Who are you?.". Lucy questioned Carly. They just came back from the club and Carly was setting the table for breakfast.

* Flashback

The night before Jay had pleaded with Carly endlessly.

" I would rather be known as your husband than to be harassed by that obsessed woman.

I know we do not love each other, but as long as Lucy is here we need to make her jealous so she does not come close to me." *

"Are you deaf, who are you?." Carly ignored her on purpose, Reah smiled. She could not wait to see Carlys helplessness.

" I am Carly Singh, Mr Jay Singhs wife, and you are?."

Everyone was amazed, not even Becky and Susan expected that response from the once shy Carly.

Jays shoes were heard, he walked down the stairs with a look of pride on his face but deep down he was terrified.

"Oh Lucy, when did you get here."

Jay kissed Carly on her forehead.

"If you had told me about your arrival earlier I would arranged for a band to sing you a good bye song."

Lucy looked at Reah, she was angry with her for keeping such a big truth from her. She would have prepared herself but now she was not ready for this embarrassment.

"Wait, hold on." Reah tried to chase her.

Jay and the others laughed. Jay ate his breakfast hurriedly like someone being chased and ran off to work.

Carly, Becky and Grandma Susan sat at the table, there face beaming with smiles.

"You never told us that you and Jay have become so close that he even planted a kiss on your forehead."

Carly smiled and explained to them that it was all an act, he was trying to get rid of Lucy by making her jealous.

"Then I pray she visits every day." Becky and Susan laughed.

Meanwhile, upstairs Reah was worried about Lucy and the prisoner within the tunnel walls.

"Please forgive me Lucy, I honestly forgot about all these. There was so much going on it slipped my mind."

Lucy separated her hand from Reahs forcefully she did not want to hear her lies.

Reah felt it would be better to leave her alone, she went to feed the prisoner although she enslaved them she still cared.

At work Jay was feeling very happy, he kept on thinking about his new found friendship with Carly.

"I can see that all is well sir, I have not seen you smile in forever." Harry commented.

Jay nodded and continued looking through the files. He wondered if Melody was in his office or at him with his grandmother.

Harry felt extremely sorry for Jays sister Reah, after being brave enough to confess her feelings.

He pushed her away.

Although he loved her, but he was scared of her. She was always demanding and controlling.

What man would fall in love with such a woman.
