Chapter 14 - CHAPTER 14

The arrival of a woman named Aurora Cassiopeia to the mansion brought tension. Kalina thought a lot about who the woman was.

Her instincts told her they were hiding something, considering Aurora's gaze at Zaki was very different.

Since that day, Aurora often stopped by the mansion, not to meet her but Zaki. They said that before Kanaya's accident, they had collaborated.

Kanaya's parents' company sponsored Aurora as a violinist, and Mrs. Arum and Mr. Airuz handed over all the affairs to their son-in-law, Zaki.

As a result, the two of them spent a lot of time together. Whether it was in the field, the living room, to Zaki's office.

Kalina repeatedly shot arrows at targets a few meters away from her. Her voice echoed in the silence of the hill. Adrian, who had been watching, realized that the young lady was thinking about something.

"Young Lady, what are you thinking about? Why is your archery so bad? Worse than a beginner," said the coach, who was in his forties.

Hearing that sentence, Kalina stopped her action. She lowered her bow, still looking straight ahead.

"What was Kanaya's game like before?"

The question full of explanations buzzed, ignoring the coach's question. The cold and firm voice surprised the two men there.

Before the coach could speak, Adrian patted his shoulder first and then nodded briefly, as a code that he would answer the question.

A second later the coach stepped away leaving the two alone, giving them privacy.

"Young Lady Kanaya's game used to be very good. Never fooled by anything and often right on target, that's what made Young Lady win various trophies and awards," Adrian continued.

"Before Young Lady had an accident, one of the famous coaches in our country offered to cooperate. He wanted you as a judge for an archery competition between children and teenagers."

Adrian's explanation just now gave an outline of what Kanaya's abilities were. The wind blew hard, blowing Kalina's long hair which was tied in a koda tail.

A flash of shadow was depicted before our eyes. Where a beautiful woman wearing typical hunter-like clothes was shooting arrows beside her.

The position, posture, and stance she did were almost perfect. A second later she shot the arrow and it hit the target.

The sound produced when the arrow hit the target was very calming. Kalina closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and exhaled slowly, imagining it.

A second later, her eyelids opened. Kalina raised the bow again and positioned her body to aim at the target. She pulled the arrow from behind her back and then prepared to shoot.

Not long after she shot the arrow and immediately hit the target. Adrian who had been watching her action was amazed.

He seemed to see his Young Lady back. However, there was something very different he felt, Kanaya's figure now looked more steadfast and strong.

"Is this how the game used to be?" Kalina asked, waking her up.

"A-ah yes that's right Young Lady," Adrian answered nervously.

The grin was printed, and the glare of her eyes still looked straight ahead, radiating an aura of strength that was very clear.

The wind continued to blow, blowing the long clothes she was wearing. The clothes made of thick cloth with brown and cream gave the impression of a woman who was a hunter.

Adrian was fascinated by the sight before his eyes. As if, he saw Kanaya's figure born like someone else.

"Young Lady... is there something on your mind?" he asked, curious.

"Yes there is," Kalina replied firmly, "I was imagining if there was someone in front of me, it would be very nice. I could shoot her to my heart's content."

Adrian felt his heart beating fast, his eyeballs wide open, his whole body shaking uncontrollably.

What he had just heard was very surprising. This was the first time Adrian had seen, or heard, a significant change in the young lady.

"W-what happened? Does the Young Lady remember the events she experienced?" Adrian's mind speculated.

"W-who are you?" Adrian was nervous when he realized that his young lady was like someone else.

Kalina turned her head, smiled meaningfully, and gave a serious look. "Of course, your young lady and your childhood friend... Kanaya Leandra."

Adrian's eyes widened again, his heart did not stop beating fast when he found a very dark aura emanating from the young lady's body.

The sound of seven-centimeter-heeled boots echoed in a hallway. Accompanied by dim light on both sides, Kalina continued to explore the place.

A while ago, when she was still with Adrian in the field, she asked about who Aurora Cassiopeia was.

Feeling that there was something that had to be resolved, Adrian finally explained who Aurora was. He said that it was true that the woman was Kanaya's childhood friend.

However, he also felt something wrong with their working relationship. Until finally Adrian accidentally caught them together and not long after that, he had to go on an errand down the hill.

Because he didn't want to destroy his friend's household before there was evidence, Adrian kept the secret as tightly as possible. When he returned to the mansion, he got the news that Kanaya had fallen from the second floor.

After telling a piece of Kanaya's past, Adrian asked her to go to the underground library. Where he could most likely get evidence of what Zaki and Aurora were hiding and hoped to awaken the young lady's memory.

Kalina refused when Adian wanted to accompany her.

After getting the information, Kalina wasted no time and rushed to the lower library.

When she wanted to get there, she had to go through a long hallway that was rarely touched by anyone.

Both the servants and the main residents of the mansion rarely visited there. That's why the dark, mystical impression felt so strong.

The place was usually often used by the old elders, but when they died the library was abandoned.

Even though it was thick with mystical impressions, Kalina couldn't back down. She had to find out about the strange relationship between Zaki and Aurora.

Struggling with her thoughts, Kalina unknowingly arrived at the end of the hallway, finding a large teak door with antique carvings in the middle.

Even the handle still used U-shaped iron. She inserted the key given by Adrian, and Kalina pulled the door slowly. A creaking sound echoed, after which darkness took over.

For a moment Kalina was stunned, hesitant to enter when she saw how mystical the nuance was there compared to the outside. She swallowed hard, wetting her throat.

"Calm down Kalina! You don't need to be afraid. You've been through a dark life compared to this for years. So… this is nothing compared to the darkness of your life," Kalina said encouraging herself.

She felt her heart beating fast, her eyes wandering scanning the dark room in front of her that was empty.

After convincing herself, she took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. Not long after that, Kalina entered and the door closed loudly, making a loud bang.
