Chapter 4 - Pa pa is a famous star (4)

Ultimately, Adonis accepted his fate and brought the egg with him to bathe.

 "Chirp chirp!"

It let out a content sound as it soaked in the hot water. Adonis squinted, saying nothing. Once he finished cleaning the egg, he took it to the kitchen.

At this hour, instant noodles were his only option.

"Kitty, this is amazing! I feel so full of energy after waking up! It must be because Papa is by my side."

 Joshua happily told Leo.

Leo immediately responded, "Indeed, little master. The closer you stay to Lord Adonis and the more you help guide his fate, the more your energy will recover!"

Joshua wasn't an egg. It was just that after arriving in this world, his energy had been completely depleted, so he had to take on the form of an egg.

At this rate, he'd hatch soon!

"Crack!"

The sound of an egg being cracked echoed in the air, followed by a sizzling noise as it hit the hot oil. The egg white quickly turned from clear to solid white.

At that moment, Adonis instinctively turned to look at the egg on the table. The egg also happened to turn toward him, the two facing each other.

It didn't have eyes, yet he could somehow feel its piercing gaze.

Maybe too much sleep wasn't a good thing.

Adonis sighed, quickly finished preparing his noodles, and returned to his room—still carrying the egg in his arms.

The egg nuzzled against him happily, its movements gentle. Adonis didn't know why but could feel the egg's joy.

A lot of illogical things had happened around this egg, yet Adonis somehow found himself readily accepting all of them.

"You're all cheerful now, huh? Then why did you injure me the first time we met?"

He held the egg with both hands, lifting it to face him directly.

"Papa doesn't understand anything! If it weren't for me, Papa would've gone down the path of self-destruction already!"

Joshua chirped furiously, but all Adonis heard were meaningless chick sounds.

Maybe there was a giant chicken inside, Adonis thought, feeling ridiculous for even trying to reason with an egg.

"Go to sleep."

Adonis said, then curled up with the egg and drifted off. It was depressing how easily he fell asleep while holding it.

Oh well—once he recovered from his illness tomorrow, he'd start investigating the origins of this strange egg.

That was his last thought before sleep entirely took over.

He never could've guessed that tomorrow would come… but he'd have no chance to investigate the egg anymore.

Because the egg… would no longer be an egg.

In the quiet of the night, the egg began to change. A brilliant light burst from it, glowing like a tiny sun—warm and beautiful. The dazzling light revealed intricate magical patterns etched along its shell.

"Crack… crack…"

Tiny sounds rang out. Cracks began forming on the egg's smooth white surface.

The next morning, as sunlight poured in through the window, Adonis finally woke.

He'd never felt so clear-headed and light—not just because his fever had passed, but because of the blissful sleep he'd had the night before.

He couldn't even remember the last time he'd slept without a nightmare.

As Adonis sat up, the egg resting on his chest immediately rolled off the bed, bounced once, and hit the ground.

"Crack!"

It was the same sound his fried egg had made the day before when he cracked it!

Adonis's eyes widened, pupils slightly contracting. He'd forgotten entirely the egg was lying on him.

And what was up with this egg, anyway? Yesterday, it wrecked his entire house without so much a scratch—now it just falls to the floor and wants to crack?

Wait…

Could it be… because of that hot bath yesterday?

Did he accidentally cook it?!

Adonis gently placed the egg onto the bed.

He justified his worry by telling himself it was because he was about to lose the one thing that let him sleep without nightmares.

"Hey, what's wrong with you? Why are you suddenly so fragile and delicate today?"

He spoke while lightly rubbing the egg. Then, under his disbelieving gaze, the eggshell trembled… and began to crack open.

Thick black hair, a small pale body, and large mint-green eyes—an adorably round little thing, like a steamed bun fresh from the steamer, so cute it made you want to take a bite.

But… a child?

Why on earth was there a child inside the egg?!

"Pa... pa... pfff."

The little child flailed his arms and legs, trying to crawl out of the shell, but rolled right out instead. He flipped once on the mattress, landing flat on his back with his limbs sticking up.

"Ha ha ha."

The child giggled happily, arms and legs waving as if eager to try again.

Even though Adonis was still in shock at seeing a child emerge from an egg, he had no desire to watch said child break his neck from doing "parkour" on his bed.

He quickly stepped forward and scooped the little one up with both hands, holding the child—who looked to be about two years old—right in front of him.

The child was unbearably cute. When Adonis picked him up, the boy let out a joyful "Pa! Pa!"

 "Papa, hug, hug!"

That's what Joshua wanted to say, but in this tiny body, all he could manage were vague baby sounds.

Adonis furrowed his brows and stared at the child, his expression freezing as something completely absurd began to dawn on him.

He turned toward the mirror. The child, curious, looked too—and mimicked him instinctively.

Immediately, two faces appeared side by side in the reflection—one big, one small. Aside from the eye color, the child's facial features were nearly identical to Adonis's.

"What the hell is going on here?"

Adonis muttered, feeling like this had officially reached peak absurdity. He had thought a dancing egg was ridiculous enough. But now there was a child—**a child who looked exactly like him without needing a DNA test—**who had hatched from said egg?

It was nearly 8 a.m. when Ariana arrived at Adonis's villa. The moment she stepped inside, a stream of words poured from her mouth:

"Adonis, listen, you need to stay calm. I've arranged for you to take more time off—however long you want, plus an additional round of psychological therapy. The point is, you need to stay calm right now!"

Ariana had heard Rowan's report about what happened at the villa yesterday and had even seen it for herself.

At this moment, she was truly worried about Adonis's mental state.

But the instant her eyes landed on the scene inside the room, all her words got stuck in her throat.

Adonis was sitting on the sofa… holding a child.

 Yes—a child.

Even from this distance, even with her five-degree nearsightedness, Ariana was sure she wasn't seeing things wrong.

"You..."

She started to speak, but Adonis lifted his gaze and placed a finger to his lips, signaling her to stay quiet.

Faced with Adonis's expression, Ariana gulped and didn't dare say another word.

She quietly approached and sat beside him.

By now, the child had nestled against Adonis's chest and was fast asleep. His chubby cheek was squished ever so slightly, and for some reason, the corners of his mouth curled up into a little smile—as if dreaming of something sweet.

He nuzzled his head deeper into Adonis's chest and continued his peaceful slumber.

Aaaaaaa! He was so cute she wanted to stuff him into her pocket!
