"Smoke?" I frowned.
"Yeah."
"What type of smoke? Cigarette?"
"No, like real smoke. Like something was burnt."
I exhaled, confused. "Did he say anything to you?"
"No, not really," she answered, shaking her head. "He just said he knew you."
"You don't know him?" Cindy chimed in.
"I don't," I murmured.
"I thought he was the one you were referring to. I don't think I know him either. Oh wait, he is looking up," Cindy noticed.
The man moved his gaze to Ava. Ava rushed over to him. He said a few things to her, and she left to carry out his order. After handing the order to the lady behind the counter, she came back to us.
"I guess he is genuinely interested in you," Ava whispered. "He ordered the same thing as you—cappuccino and chocolate cake."
"What?" Cindy gasped. "He must really like you. Maybe he's a secret admirer," she giggled.
