Chapter 7 - QUIET AFTER THE STORM

The next morning, the lake shimmered beneath soft light. For the first time, it felt peaceful—no whispers, no shadows. Just wind brushing the surface and birds in the trees.

Mira stepped onto the dock barefoot. The wood felt warm. Alive. The same place that once held fear now felt like memory—real, but no longer haunting.

Jin joined her, holding two steaming cups of tea. "You slept?"

She nodded. "First time in days."

They sat together in silence, the kind that didn't need filling.

"I think she's free," Mira said softly. "She let go."

Jin stared at the lake. "Sometimes… that's all they need. To be seen."

Mira looked at him. "You helped me remember. Thank you."

He smiled faintly. "You helped her move on."

They stayed like that for a while—no ghosts, no fear, just the sound of water and the slow return of peace.

Before she left, Mira placed the necklace on the dock, right where her aunt had stood. A gift. A goodbye.

Then she whispered, "I remember you."

And somewhere beneath the stillness, something stirred—not with anger, but with peace.

The lake, once heavy with sorrow, now held only reflection.
