The sky above Skypiea was a pristine white-blue, thick clouds drifting lazily beneath a floating sun. The world Ethan and his companions walked through was like something out of a half-forgotten dream. Each step crunched softly on the fluffy white cloud-ground, yet it felt firm beneath their feet, like walking on memory foam.

Angel Island sprawled around them with oddly shaped buildings made of cloudstone, their architecture a blend of ancient design and peculiar sky-world ingenuity. Skyfolk moved warily as Ethan and the others passed. Some whispered, others watched with open fear.

Word of Ethan's bounty had reached even here.

"They're scared of you," Kaya murmured, walking beside him.

Ethan didn't respond. He kept his gaze forward, hands in his coat pockets, steps steady. The truth was, he didn't blame them. In their eyes, he was a powerful unknown—an outsider with no ties, no leash, and far too much strength.

Vivi lingered near the edge of a floating marketplace, watching sky-fish bob in the air like balloons. Children laughed nearby, oblivious to the tension.

"It's beautiful," she said.

Robin walked just behind, her arms folded across her chest. "Beautiful things often hide dangerous secrets."

Ethan smirked slightly. "That so?"

She didn't answer, but the edge of her mouth curled.

They entered a tavern carved into the side of a high cloud-dune. It was dim, lit by floating glowing stones and candles tethered by string. The place fell silent the moment they walked in.

A barman coughed nervously.

Ethan stepped forward. "We're not here to cause trouble. Just looking for information."

"About what?" someone asked from a dark corner.

Robin spoke. "The Upper Yard."

Murmurs rippled through the tavern. Chairs scraped the floor. Someone dropped a mug.

"No one goes there," said the bartender. "Not unless they have a death wish."

"We heard it's ruled by a god," Vivi said cautiously.

"God Enel," the bartender nodded. "He rules with lightning. No one questions him. No one survives defying him."

Ethan leaned on the counter. "What makes him so terrifying?"

The bartender looked at him with wide eyes. "He can hear everything. Even now, he might be listening."

Ethan's eyes narrowed slightly. "Let him listen."

Later that evening, the group returned to their ship. They kept their heads down, avoiding attention.

"A lightning user," Ethan muttered. "A Logia."

Robin looked thoughtful. "And one who considers himself divine."

Vivi frowned. "How do we fight someone who can control lightning?"

Ethan shrugged. "We don't fight. I end it."

Kaya pulled him aside as they walked. "You're not going to rush in, are you?"

He paused, then shook his head. "Not yet. But when I do, nothing will stop me."

The next morning, they crossed the threshold to the Upper Yard.

Getting there required maneuvering the ship through narrow cloud streams and around sky reefs. They used the dial-powered glider they obtained in town to avoid triggering alarm dials. Robin navigated using an old skypiean map she found in a scroll shop.

The moment they touched down on the Upper Yard, the air changed. Heavier. More charged.

The ground wasn't made of white clouds anymore. It was actual earth. Grass. Trees. Soil. A paradise above the sky.

Kaya stepped cautiously onto the moss-covered path. "This... doesn't feel like the rest of Skypiea."

"Because it isn't," Robin said quietly. "This land was once part of the Blue Sea. It was blasted upward centuries ago."

Vivi knelt and touched the ground. "It's warm."

Ethan looked around. Birds called from high in the trees. Strange animals chirped and rustled in the underbrush. And deeper in the forest—something else. A hum. Like distant thunder.

They walked carefully.

The deeper they went, the more unnatural the terrain became. Giant vines twisted around massive stone pillars. Statues eroded with time, their features barely recognizable. A huge broken bell lay half-buried in the ground, its sides covered in strange glyphs.

Robin approached it, brushing off moss. "Poneglyphs... ancient language. This island is more important than I thought."

Kaya stood beside Ethan. "Do you think Enel knows what's here?"

"Probably," he said. "But I don't think he cares. Gods rarely look behind them."

They made camp near an overgrown temple ruin.

That night, Ethan sat watch.

Lightning flashed far in the distance, the sky trembling for a moment before silence returned.

Robin joined him, sitting quietly by the dying fire. For a while, they didn't speak.

Then she asked, "Why are you really doing this? Why chase something like Enel?"

Ethan stared into the fire. "Because he rules through fear. Because people here whisper his name like they owe him their lives."

He looked up.

"I don't like tyrants."

Robin tilted her head. "Even if he's stronger than you?"

He smirked. "No one in this world is stronger than me."

She smiled faintly. "You say that like it's easy."

"It is."

The clouds rumbled again.

The next morning, as they prepared to move deeper into the island, a loud boom echoed through the trees.

Smoke.

The sky crackled.

From the horizon, three figures floated toward them, riding on strange cloud bikes. Each was armored in exotic sky gear, faces covered by visors.

"Enforcers," Robin said grimly.

The lead one raised a staff and pointed. "By order of God Enel, you are trespassing. Lay down your weapons and submit."

Ethan stepped forward, calm as ever.

"No."

"Then die."

Lightning cracked through the trees.

The fight began. Ethan didn't even need to draw a weapon. He blurred through the enforcers, his raw power overwhelming them in seconds. He shattered their weapons, broke their dials, and left them unconscious at his feet.

Vivi blinked. "That... was fast."

Robin stared. "He barely moved."

Ethan dusted off his coat. "Let Enel know. I'm coming."
