The continuous high-pitched noise of beeping machines, and the sterilised smell of antiseptics in a clinic or hospital that lingers and spreads, especially when the A.C is turned on, crept into his dreams and jolted him up from his rest.
He opened his eyes slowly, softly, and slightly, just enough to take in his surroundings without letting too much light go through his iris into his retina.
'What the hell happened...'
He struggled to fully open his eyes, but the pain of the toll on his body was just too much, almost overwhelming to the point he couldn't ignore it.
A nurse came into the room with a clipboard visible in her hands as she walked in. Then she glanced in his direction after noticing movement from him.
"Ohh, you're awake," she smiled broadly.
She turned to her side and dropped the clipboard on the table beside her before picking up a thermometer to examine his temperature.
'A nurse? That means I'm in a hospital...'
