Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 Yang Release

Along the way, all the nurses they encountered greeted them warmly.

By the time they reached the infirmary, Seiki's hair looked like a bird's nest.

"Senior Miyoshi, may I ask what brings you here?" A nurse on duty approached when she saw the group, though her gaze kept drifting toward Seiki standing behind Miyoshi.

"I'm here to see Captain Nonou." Miyoshi replied concisely.

"Oh right, Lady Nonou is just ahead. Let me show you the way."

The infirmary wasn't very large, and they arrived shortly after walking just a few steps.

Then, the little nurse happily accepted her payment.

"Hehe, Shiseki's hair feels absolutely amazing!"

After thoroughly "torturing" him, she finally left satisfied.

At this point, Nonou noticed their presence. "Miyoshi, what's up?"

She wasn't very old, only around twenty years of age, but her medical skills had already surpassed most others. Because of this, Miyoshi and the others held her in great respect.

Hearing her question, Miyoshi explained Seiki's concerns in detail.

Nonou was momentarily stunned before smiling gently at Seiki. "Little Seiki is still as gentle as ever. He must've made this request because he knows about the Medical Team's difficult situation, right?"

Seiki tilted his head and imitated a certain mischievous elementary school student as he asked innocently, "Huh? I don't understand what you mean, Onee-san!"

"It's probably because of his personal experiences that he developed the habit of trying not to trouble others. But how many kids with similar backgrounds can be as mature as Seiki? Maybe I could give those sensitive kids... a home..." Nonou gazed at Seiki, and an idea quietly took root in her mind.

Misa and the other two realized everything at once, gazing at Seiki with affection and pride. Compared to their rowdy little brother back home, Seiki was truly easygoing and well-behaved.

"That reminds me, Captain, there's actually something else." Miyoshi originally didn't think Nonou would refuse, so she hadn't given it much thought either. "Could you assign me a patient who requires [Healing Technique] treatment?"

"No problem at all." Nonou immediately agreed, but then asked somewhat puzzledly, "But why would you suddenly request this?"

Miyoshi smiled with narrowed eyes. "I plan to demonstrate the details of the [Healing Technique] to Seiki."

"Healing Technique? Seiki should have seen it many times..." As she spoke, Nonou suddenly changed expression. "Wait—you're going to teach Seiki ninjutsu?"

Miyoshi nodded with a smile.

Having been promoted to the position of Medical Team captain by the age of twenty, Nonou naturally possesses exceptional intelligence. As a former elite member of Root, she thought far more deeply about it than Miyoshi did.

Actually, this was precisely why Seiki had dragged Ashton out earlier as a human shield.

While still uncertain whether Danzo would take interest in himself, aligning himself with Lord Hokage's faction ahead of time was definitely the right move.

Room 47. A ninja with three long scratch marks across his shoulder lay on the hospital bed.

"Was it a beast that scratched you, Seiki?" Miyoshi asked after glancing at him.

The ninja lying there looked slightly embarrassed. "An unexpected incident during a D... mission."

Misa and the others barely suppressed their smiles. Missions sounded serious, but once prefixed with "D-rank," it became completely different.

In a way, he truly was one of a kind—getting into an accident while doing low-tier errands like retrieving stray cats or cleaning up trash.

Of course, as caring medical staff, they wouldn't dare embarrass him by pointing that out—it might make him stop cooperating altogether.

Miyoshi stepped forward, her palm glowing with soft pale green light. "Seiki, I know you've seen us using healing techniques many times before, but that was when you didn't have chakra. Now, use your own chakra to sense them. Then tell me what differences you notice between our chakras."

"Alright!" Seiki seriously extended his right hand and formed a ball of chakra, then merged his energy with Aunt Miyoshi's.

Closing his eyes, he sensed the difference between the two chakras.

"This is... the feeling of vitality and life force?" Seiki suddenly opened his eyes wide. He actually caught on quickly—he keenly realized something: his chakra seemed to lack a certain element found in Aunt Miyoshi's chakra.

"He actually caught on that quickly?!" Miyoshi felt surprised inside, yet she was even more delighted and touched.

"I know telling you this might be too early, but if you want to become a medical ninja, you must first understand what Medical Ninjutsu essentially is."

As she spoke, Miyoshi placed both hands over the patient's wound area. Under the gentle glow of chakra, the three terrifying gashes about ten centimeters long started slowly healing.

Taking advantage of this time while the chakra worked its effects, she asked again, "Seiki, did you see clearly?"

"It's transformation!" Seiki thought briefly before answering earnestly. "Chakra itself doesn't possess any elemental nature, but just like Fire Release or Wind Release, when given properties, it creates corresponding elemental transformations. So our Medical Ninjutsu should also fundamentally be one form of transformed chakra nature, right?"

The ninja lying on the bed couldn't resist asking, "You guys are already learning elemental transformations at the Ninja Academy?"

Seiki shook his head. "I worked it out myself after going through some reference books in the library today."

"Huh?" The background ninja looked confused. Seriously? That actually counts?

Then he glanced at Misa and the others, noticing they all looked calm and unsurprised, leaving him involuntarily caught in existential doubt.

Is my status as a genin even real anymore?

Unfazed, Miyoshi continued; silent assistants were always more useful than noisy ones.

"Besides the five basic elemental natures and Kekkei Genkai, there are actually two additional chakra natures: Yang Release and Yin Release."

Thoughtfully, Seiki responded, "So, does that mean the fundamental nature of Medical Ninjutsu is Yang Release?"

Misa and the other three secretly perked up their ears. This was also the first time they had heard such a theory.

Miyoshi nodded slightly. "The attribute that creates life from form is [Yang Release]. Besides Medical Ninjutsu, [Yang Release] also includes some secret techniques—for example, the [Expansion Jutsu] used by the Akimichi clan."

Misa and the others felt their illusions crumbling. The palm-based techniques used by the Akimichi clan and the medical ninjutsu they themselves practiced were essentially the same in nature. Would they end up getting as big as the Akimichi clan too?

Just thinking about such a horrifying scenario made them shudder involuntarily.

"Aunt Miyoshi, I have another question."

"Go ahead."

"Each of us has our own five elemental chakra natures. Only after testing one's chakra nature with chakra paper can we start training in [Nature Transformation]. However, I've never seen any kind of test regarding Yin-Yang attributes. So how do you determine if someone has the aptitude to train in Medical Ninjutsu or Genjutsu?"

Misa and the others subconsciously nodded. The three core ninja arts—Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, and Genjutsu—are the main classifications. While many ninja tend to focus on just one, can't they still qualify to train in the other two?

"Huh?" Miyoshi blinked. This question seemed to fall into an area where her knowledge was lacking.

After thinking for a moment, she replied somewhat uncertainly, "Normally in the village, it's handled through recommendations by a team leader chunin or jonin, but I'm not exactly clear on the specific process myself. But, Seiki, you don't need to worry too much about it. Aunt Miyoshi believes in you—you've got what it takes for this."

Seiki nodded and dropped the subject.

He had a few thoughts about Yang Release and Yin Release, but getting more details from Aunt Miyoshi didn't seem likely.

After all, even Aunt Miyoshi—the strongest among them—was only a Chunin. What they knew wasn't necessarily the full truth of this world.
