The rain was relentless, a feral kind of storm that clawed at the edges of the world. It smeared the windshield of the stolen bike I rode, making the dark roads even more treacherous than they already were. Thunder cracked in the distance, but it wasn't the weather that had my stomach in knots,it was the fact that I was heading straight into a trap. And I didn't know whether I was the bait or the intended kill.
I had told Draven I was checking on one of our outpost armories. That was the official reason, the one he could confirm with the logistics logs and the rotating schedules. In truth, I needed to meet someone,someone from before the compound, before Eira, before all this blurred morality. Someone who owed me their life and had promised me answers in return.
