Chapter 10 – "Zurich"
The morning after the confrontation is colder than ever.
Dominic enters the kitchen like nothing happened, checking emails on his phone. When she questions him again, he gives her a tight-lipped answer.
> "You need to pack. We leave for Zurich tomorrow."
Ava refuses. He pauses, then sets his phone down and looks at her for the first time in days.
> "You've drawn attention to yourself. It's not safe anymore—not for you, not for me. Zurich is secure."
Ava accuses him of control. Of trying to hide her. He doesn't deny that, either.
> "You want answers. You'll get them. But not here. Not while we're being watched."
He doesn't elaborate on who is watching, or why.
When she pushes back again, Dominic walks to her, slower this time, gaze unreadable.
> "You walk away now, Ava, and I won't be able to protect you. I won't even try."
There's a trace of something—fear? Anger? Regret? But she can't place it.
