[Kikyo: Victor, I need to ask you for a favor.]
[Victor: What's the matter?]
[Kikyo: I'd like to entrust the Shikon Jewel to you for safekeeping.]
[Victor: Oh? So the Shikon Jewel has been delivered to you?]
[Kikyo: Yes. A few days ago, the chief of the demon slayer village brought it to me.]
[Victor: With your current strength, you should have no problem protecting the Shikon Jewel yourself, right? Why do you want me to keep it for you?]
[Kikyo: You're right about my abilities, but as long as the Shikon Jewel remains in this world, demons will continue to appear.]
[Kikyo: I just want the villagers to live in peace.]
Before she'd taken custody of the Shikon Jewel, Kikyo had only needed to deal with occasional minor demons that wandered into the village. But now that she was the jewel's guardian, various demons had been attacking constantly, causing considerable damage to the village and its people.
Though she'd managed to destroy these demons in the end, she couldn't stay in the village forever. Sometimes she accepted commissions from other villages and cities to eliminate demons elsewhere.
What if a powerful demon attacked while she was away?
[Victor: Alright, please send the Shikon Jewel over.]
[Kikyo: Thank you, Victor.]
[Ding! Kikyo sent an exclusive red envelope to Victor.]
[Ding! Victor received the exclusive red envelope!]
Out of curiosity, Victor retrieved the Shikon Jewel from his system space.
It was a pink bead about the size of a marble, emitting a faint otherworldly light. Victor could sense that the jewel contained both malevolent and benevolent energies, twisted together in an eternal struggle.
More than that, he detected an extremely weak soul within it. That must be the jewel's creator, the priestess Midoriko. Even after centuries of death, her soul remained trapped in the Shikon Jewel, endlessly suppressing the demon souls sealed inside.
Victor directly injected a stream of spiritual power into the jewel, methodically erasing all the demon souls trapped within. The purification took only moments.
Now the Shikon Jewel was simply a treasure containing pure spiritual energy, one that could grant tremendous power to its bearer without corrupting their mind or soul.
Of course, such a minor boost meant nothing to someone at Victor's level.
"What beautiful beads, Master. What are those?"
Qian Renxue had noticed the Shikon Jewel in Victor's hand and cast a curious glance his way.
"This is called the Shikon Jewel. A friend gave it to me for safekeeping."
Victor examined the jewel for a few more moments before returning it to his system space.
Just then, Xiao Wu returned with her two best friends trailing behind her.
"Master! I'm back!"
Seeing Victor again stirred complicated emotions in Ning Rongrong's heart. Her eyes revealed a complex mixture of grief and hesitation.
Victor had killed Tang San, which had prompted Tang Hao to blame them for the mistake, an error in judgment that ultimately led to the destruction of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Clan. Though she understood intellectually that Victor couldn't be blamed for her sect's fall, the connection still stung.
Zhu Zhuqing noticed the shift in Rongrong's expression and quickly leaned close to whisper in her ear, "Don't dwell on it. Relax, and remember what Xiao Wu told us earlier. There may still be hope for Uncle Ning, Grandpa Sword, and Grandpa Bone to be resurrected in the future."
Hearing this, Rongrong recalled her earlier conversation with Xiao Wu and forced herself to set aside her darker thoughts.
"Yeah, I understand."
Xiao Wu trotted over to Victor's side, hugging his arm as she said coquettishly, "Master, Zhuqing and Rongrong also want to follow you. Can you accept them too? Even if it's just as maids!"
Victor glanced at Zhu Zhuqing and Ning Rongrong. Xiao Wu took the opportunity to wink at her two best friends.
The pair immediately knelt on one knee in unison.
"Please accept us, Master."
Victor could easily guess what Xiao Wu was thinking, she wanted to help secure her friends' futures.
He had no reason to refuse. After all, they were both beautiful and talented young women. Why not accept them?
"Rise. From now on, you're my maids."
"Thank you, Master!"
Joy flickered in both women's eyes.
They'd talked extensively with Xiao Wu beforehand and knew there were many benefits to becoming Victor's maid.
First, they could learn cultivation techniques that would make them far stronger than they'd ever imagined possible. Second, there was the genuine possibility of resurrecting their deceased loved ones, a miracle Victor had already proven capable of performing. Third, there was even the remote possibility of being elevated to the position of mistress.
Well, they had no interest in that third option for now. But the first two possibilities were more than exciting enough!
Afterward, Victor brought all the girls back to his own world through a spatial rift.
Following his usual routine, he handed the newly joined Zhu Zhuqing and Ning Rongrong over to Krul for orientation and training.
Krul was already well-practiced at this and immediately began showing the two newcomers around.
The first order of business was taking them on a tour of the manor to familiarize them with their new environment.
"What? You said you're only twelve?"
After hearing Zhu Zhuqing's self-introduction, Krul suddenly spun around and stared at the girl's impressively developed chest.
'Is that the size a twelve-year-old should have?'
This was absolutely outrageous! It made Krul painfully aware that even after thousands of years of existence, she was still flat as an airport runway.
Fortunately, Victor had shown he appreciated petite figures, so it didn't bother her too much.
When Zhu Zhuqing noticed Krul's pointed gaze, her face flushed red with embarrassment.
Standing beside her, Ning Rongrong looked at her friend with undisguised envy.
'We're both twelve years old. Why aren't I as developed as you?'
This wasn't the first time she'd envied Zhuqing, and it probably wouldn't be the last.
Meanwhile, after saying goodbye to the girls, Victor returned to his room.
"System, open the lottery pool. I want to draw!"
He'd obtained 115,000 abstract points in the spirit world, and he'd been itching to use them ever since.
The lottery interface materialized before him, and Victor continued, "Let's try five draws from the intermediate pool first."
[Ding! Abstract points have been deducted. Commencing lottery...]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for obtaining the Fire Elemental Vision x1]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for obtaining the Anywhere Door!]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for obtaining the Zanpakutō Shōda!]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for obtaining the Navy Six Styles!]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for obtaining the Sacred Heart!]
Five draws completed in rapid succession. Victor understood the first four rewards, but what was this last one, the Sacred Heart?
Out of curiosity, he tapped on the item description.
[Sacred Heart: Condensed from the tears of a goddess, it can increase the wearer's luck value and provide a defensive shield.]
[Note: The increased luck value is not effective in this system's lottery pool. The shield provided can only defend against attacks below the Foundation Establishment Realm, and it can only activate three times per day.]
"Tsk. My luck today is pretty average."
He'd hoped it would be something genuinely useful, but this? Although increased luck value was decent in theory, the fact that it couldn't affect the system's lottery pool severely limited its usefulness.
Victor then turned his attention to the remaining 110,000 abstract points.
Should he draw more, or use them for strengthening?
After considering his options carefully, he made his decision...
