Alastor family's butler reveals that Edward is technically an alchemist, but being an ordinary person with no magical capability, Edward's skills in alchemy is limited, as although alchemy is something that both mage and ordinary people can practice, due to alchemy only needing materials and understanding of natural law, however, some alchemical process only work with the assistance of magic spells as there it is impossible for those process to occur without the help of magic, furthermore, using alchemy with the assistance of magic improves the efficiency of alchemical process as well as improve the quality of final product. As the result, alchemist with magical powers are preferred over the ones without it. So, as an alchemist without magical powers, Edward cannot achieve what the alchemist with magic can achieve. So, Edward used the alternative way, that is, science and technology. Science is detailed version of the knowledge about the natural law, while technology like alchemy is application of natural law, but unlike alchemy, which may or may not need the assistance from magic, technology is purely independent, in other world it doesn't require the help from magic. With science and technology, Edward finally achieve what he could achieve, in fact now, he can achieve the same result as the mages.
"So, in other word, he abandoned alchemy and switched it with science and technology"
Claire spoke after hearing everthing from the butler.
"Nope, just because he adopted the ways of science and technology, he didn't abandoned alchemy, in fact he is trying to create the tools and machine, that will allow young master to assist his alchemical experiments, science and technology were merely alternatives for magic"
The butler corrected Claire's assumption.
"By the way, what kind things mr. Edward has invented?"
Claire asked the butler.
"Young master has created many wonderful things, advanced vehicles and carriers that doesn't require animals to pull or magic to work, electric lights that completed replaced traditional fire torches for illumination, electric fans, electric coolers and air conditioners that can cool the room just like hand fan and magical cooling artifacts do, manure and fertilizers that can improve crops in farms replacing crop improving potions, herbal and chemical medicines, that can cure illness just like the medical magic potions, healing substances that serves alternative to healing spells and healing potion, and....."
The butler was about to more but was stopped by Claire.
"That's enough I understand everything"
Claire said with a smile on her face.
"Looks like what I thought to be a misfortune, turned out to be huge jackpot"
Claire said with a grin on her face.
"Jackpot indeed, your highness, I don't know what your older sister is thinking, but she completely lost a diamond in the attempt to acquire gold"
The butler said this agreeing with Claire.
"Ha! Ha! Ha! I wonder what the highness, Emma was thinking, she accidently handed over a bigshot for a lousy person"
Leila spoke believing princess Emma Leonis to be a complete idiot.
'It is expected, as she simply assumed young master to be a small fry, due his lack of aptitude in magic, on top of that her arrogance to simply quick to jump to conclusion cause her to never meet the young master or visiting the barony, believing it to be waste of time"
Butler explained everthing to the group.
"No wonder, her highness, Emma has no clue about master Edward"
Tom seemed to be agreeing with what other said.
The group continued their teavel during travel they often stop at nearby restaurents, the food in these restaurents is not only something that the group never seen and eaten, but they are also very delicious, ironically these foods were also something that Edward came up with, causing the group to wonder if Edward is also a prodigy in the field of cooking. Five days passed, in the evening they reached their destination, Baron Alastor's mansion.
"Is this a mansion? Or some sort of beautiful white castle?"
Claire seems to completely surprised to see such a beautiful castle as a mansion of the baron, even royal palace is pale in comparison.
The group entered the mansion or rather castle to meet the baron and Claire's new fiance. They were greeted by Baron of the Alastor barony, Baron Michael Alastor.
"Welcome, your highness, I hope you enjoyed your travel in the barony"
Baron Alastor greeted the princess.
"I have to say this barony is way too prosperous to be called a barony"
Claire remarked.
"Yeah, it was all thanks to my genius son, for coming up with those ideas, my unremarkable barony turned into a marvelous civilization"
Baron replied to Claire while boasting about his son.
"By the way, where's my fiance?"
Claire asked.
"Now come think about it, I haven't seen him for a day"
Baron seems to recalling something.
"He is in his laboratory, he was researching about some kind of medicine against the epidemic in nebouring countdom"
A maid said.
"I see"
Baron seems to understand why his son was missing, the he turned towards the princess.
"Your highness, follow me, I will take you to my son laboratory"
Baron said to the princess in polite voice.
"Understood"
Claire replied.
Claire and her aide followed the baron to a building within a guarden, the building seems to be very advanced, it guarded several humanoid metallic beings.
"What are those? Some kind of golem?"
Claire asked.
"Something similar to that. My son call them automatons"
The baron replied to princess.
The automaton recognising the baron allowed the group to enter, inside there wer more automaton as well as the maid and butler working under Edward, except they were wearing the white coat over the regular outfit of barony's civilians regular outfits.
"These are my son's personal maids and butlers as well as his colleagues in scientific experiment, theout they are wearing over the servent dress is actually the dress worn by scientists, and they are mandatory"
The baron told them.
"By the way, we have wear the safety dress before entering the wing where my son is, afterall he must be working on some kind of pathogens, it would be risky if we get infected"
Baron told them while handing the group the safety suits.
After wearing the safety suit the group entered the wing where Edward is.
