"What's the situation now?" Looking at the image shrouded in mist, Uathach was a bit confused. "Why can't I see anything?"
"It's probably because they've entered a special scene," Morgan said. "This is an image presented through what Ash sees. Since he can't see, then naturally we can't either. More importantly..."
"More importantly...?"
"First, let this mother loosen her grip... Ash's face is about to turn red from her pinching," Morgan said, glancing at Tiamat.
Uathach looked down and realized that Tiamat had, at some point, pinched Asher's cheek again, as if kneading dough. Asher's words must have displeased her. While the two of them hastily stopped Tiamat's "dough kneading" behavior, Asher and Kiara Sesshouin continued deeper into Niflheim.
They walked cautiously forward, neither speaking. The surroundings were shrouded in mist, with extremely low visibility. But Asher had no choice; since he was already here, he couldn't just scurry back, could he? If he ran back now, Lily would surely tie him up and rub him against the bed repeatedly. Besides, he didn't want to return empty-handed. The secrets hidden in the Northern Country were probably not well understood by Lily herself. In any case, he could only push forward now.
However, Asher was very nervous at this moment, but the woman beside him seemed not nervous at all, casually looking around. Although Kiara Sesshouin initially showed surprise, she now seemed completely calm. Should I say she truly lives up to her title as a 'Beast'? This minor commotion probably isn't enough to make her feel a sense of crisis, right?
But Asher couldn't be as calm as her. He knew that if he died, he died, but he would still feel pain. His main body could feel the pain transmitted from his clone. Even if death was inconsequential, his spirit would still be affected. Who would willingly let themselves be cut twice just to feel pain?
The two of them groped their way through the mist. Along the way, they passed a gilded crystal bridge. It swayed as they walked on it. Asher looked up and realized that the bridge was only suspended by a single strand of hair, and beneath the bridge was a bottomless abyss.
After passing the crystal bridge without incident, a roar suddenly came from the mist. It was a giant wolf with scarlet eyes. It opened its bloody maw and lunged at the two of them. Asher suddenly felt his breathing become difficult; the air in his space suddenly became very murky. But Asher remained calm. Weapons shot out from golden circles behind him, piercing through the giant wolf's bloody maw. However, only a solid, steel-like clang was heard; the weapon surprisingly did not pass through the giant wolf's body. Golden circles lit up from all directions, and with jarring clangs, the giant wolf finally fell weakly, then dissolved into golden particles and disappeared.
"A demon... it seems someone summoned it?" Asher muttered to himself.
"Mm-hmm... amazing. Your skills are formidable, truly reassuring," Kiara Sesshouin, who had been slacking off until now, said with a smile.
"Let's keep going. Perhaps that fake Odin is deep within Niflheim," Asher said, then ignored her. He still couldn't figure out Kiara Sesshouin's objective or why she was willing to bring him to such a place. It couldn't possibly be out of compassion, could it? Or was her purpose that nonsensical one she mentioned before to let him fully release his desires? Just thinking about it felt unreasonable. But then again, it was inherently unreasonable to try to guess a Beast's thoughts with human reasoning.
"Why are you so sure that Odin is fake? What if it's the real one?" Kiara Sesshouin caught up, appearing quite curious. Why...? Because Odin is right in front of you. Asher silently complained in his mind.
"Just a feeling. I feel like that Odin is fake," Asher said.
"If you don't want to tell the truth, fine," Kiara Sesshouin shrugged, clearly unwilling to believe Asher's perfunctory words.
"Are you afraid of me? Why? I haven't done anything, you know?" Kiara Sesshouin suddenly asked. She could feel that Asher had been guarding against her ever since they started.
"Your imagination"
"If you don't tell the truth, I might actually do something that will make you wary, you know?" Asher's words stopped abruptly, and his mouth twitched slightly. This woman... she's really troublesome. "It's just that you give off a dangerous aura," he finally said, half-truthfully.
"Am I dangerous?" Kiara Sesshouin looked quite puzzled. "I'm sorry, I really don't understand what you mean. No matter how you look at me, I don't seem dangerous, do I?"
You may not look like it, Asher thought, but the problem is that you are indeed a very dangerous existence.
"It's truly saddening. Being so wary of a companion can easily hurt others," Kiara Sesshouin sighed, looking quite pitiful. "What will it take for you to trust me?"
Seeing Asher still silent, Kiara Sesshouin frowned slightly, about to speak again, but then she saw him suddenly point ahead and say, "Look ahead, isn't that a palace?!" Through the mist, a palace seemed to stand in the distance, with a gloomy gate to the Underworld wide open, as if welcoming visitors from another world.
"It looks a bit like Ereshkigal's palace... Is it true that even in different mythologies, the Underworld generally looks similar?" Asher muttered thoughtfully. If anything, this place was even gloomier, colder, and foggier than the Underworld he had visited in Uruk.
"The Underworld..." Kiara Sesshouin also murmured.
"What's wrong? Did you think of something?" Asher turned around, noticing Kiara Sesshouin's unusual behavior.
"No, nothing. It's just that you've been ignoring me so much, it made me feel a little uncomfortable, that's all. Don't worry about it," Kiara Sesshouin smiled.
"Mortals, proceed no further." A chilling voice came from the palace gate.
"Proceed no further, mortals." Immediately after, another female voice with the same tone echoed.
"Be careful," Asher warned in a low voice, his gaze fixed on the deep, dark gate to the Underworld. A pair of servants slowly emerged from the gate. Their movements were extremely slow, making it seem like a slow-motion video.
"What are these things?" Asher cautiously observed the creatures before him.
"You don't know either? I thought you knew everything?" Kiara Sesshouin said slowly.
"I'm not a god; how could I remember so many things at
all times?" Asher said in a low voice. He had indeed read some Norse mythology before, but that didn't mean he could remember every single detail; he just had a general impression.
"Mortals, if you do not retreat..." At this point, the two voices from before came again.
"If you do not retreat..." Then, they simultaneously and slowly raised their hands.
Boom! Eerie blue flames ignited without warning, exploding next to Asher in an instant. The sudden attack caught Asher off guard. He had been misled by the servants' unusually slow movements, subconsciously thinking their threat was minimal, but he didn't expect them to act so quickly. Moreover, here, not only his Clairvoyance, but even his precognitive abilities were ineffective. This was a rule of the Underworld, a rule set by the Underworld's Shishou. But Asher was not injured by the sudden blue light; Kiara Sesshouin had pushed him away almost the instant the two servants raised their hands.
"Mortals" the two servants spoke again.
"I am a Servant, you've got the wrong person!" Asher drew weapons from his Gate of Babylon and hurled them, impaling both incredibly slow-moving servants to the ground. Then he quickly approached Kiara Sesshouin.
"It seems... a bit unfortunate," Kiara Sesshouin chuckled softly. A wound had appeared on her chest from the recent explosion, and blood was oozing from it.
Asher couldn't help but be stunned. He had always thought that the Kiara Sesshouin of this singularity was a Beast, but from the current situation, it seemed he had misunderstood from the beginning. He had arbitrarily assumed that this singularity's Kiara Sesshouin was a 'Beast' and had been wary of her ever since... but in reality, he had only been guarding against her because he hadn't seen through her. The current Kiara Sesshouin was very likely not a Beast.
"Now, do you believe what I said?" Kiara Sesshouin smiled, her voice very soft.
