Chapter 5 - Direct Contact

It didn't take long for the pale boy to reach the place where Jet should be, the building with several floors was much more beautiful than the one Sunny had come from, reinforced with steel plates and armored windows, in addition to the turrets that gave an air of high defense to the place, although in reality these weapons were practically useless against creatures above the dormant rank.

The sun had already passed its midday peak, and several well-dressed people were walking around the area. In the midst of all these suited men, Sunny ended up standing out even more than usual. When he passed through one of the entrance, he became impressed by the appearance of the place, of course, he had already visited other government structures, but this was the first time he had done so without having some minimum level of authority, in fact he would probably have the opposite of that at this moment, since the guards who were posted closest to the entrances were attentive to him.

This entrance hall alone must have been four times the size of the first house he bought in the city, with a white floor and the government coat of arms printed in the middle, with several service areas and even more chairs distributed throughout the place, lines and lines of people followed one another towards the elevators and stairs, at the same time as other huge groups crossed from one side to the other with papers and files.

'Uh, seeing all this bureaucratic work and paperwork almost makes me want to jump straight into a nightmare.' Approaching one of the counters, Sunny sat across from a middle-aged woman with tied hair, she barely looked up when he sat down in front of her.

"Welcome to the Office of Strategic Oversight, Sector Three. How can i help you?" She seemed to be answering some kind of crossword puzzle.

"Hello, i have a appointment, with Ascended Jet" Although there was a lot of noise coming from all sides, the lady seemed to hear perfectly the name that Sunny had said, turning her face with a certain urgency and finally looking at the boy was a great indication of that.

"Oh, forgive my lack of attention to the subject earlier, young man, I'll let you know now that you've arrived, what would your name be?" She then reached the keyboard and started typing something.

"I'm Sunless, from the outskirts" A few seconds after Sunny said his name, the attendant turned to him again.

"Okay Mr. Sunless, her office is on the seventh floor, number 5, take this badge to access the elevators." And then she handed him a badge with an identification code, with it in hand he turned towards the elevators and again saw the line forming to access it.

"Thanks, actually, would there be any problem if I used the stairs?"

"Oh, no, just have your card handy in case they ask where you're going." Showing that he had listened, Sunny said goodbye again and began his walk to Jet's floor. The staircase was wide enough for several people to be crossing the various floors of the building at once, however, he seemed to have overestimated how exhausting it could be to reach his destination.

'Damn, i really... really need to do some exercise... oh gods i think I'm gonna need a pause'

After getting a glass of water from one of the floor's drinking fountains, he continued up to the seventh floor, dismissing the guard who questioned him with the badge he had been given, and then finally knocked on the door numbered 5.

Responding to the knocks, a familiar voice came from behind the door telling him to come in, following what he was told, he opened the door, and then, he could finally see his old friend's face again.

Just like the first time he had seen Jet, she had her raven-black hair in a short cut, she looked at Sunny with her blue eyes and an entertaining smile on her face, behind her office chair, a big window occupied almost the entire wall, giving a view of the whole city, the feeling of nostalgia quickly came to Sunny's mind, but along with it, the feelings of being a sixteen year old boy again. Having spent so much time with beautiful people around him made Sunny get used to it, at least that's what he thought, with most of his memories blocked and teenage hormones, looking directly at Jet was proving to be a much more difficult task than he expected.

"Hey, Sunless, from the outskirts right? You seemed very persistent in using that last part in your introductions"

Closing the door behind him, Sunny turned towards Jet again and walked over to one of the two chairs that were in front of the master's desk.

"Y-Yes, i really did... but it's a pleasure to meet you, Ascended Jet."

'Damn it! What the hell is happening, you need to focus Sunless!'

Still acting strangely, he extended his hand in greeting to his old friend. She was judging the boy since the moment he had stepped into her office, Who was the almost beggar who wanted to talk to her so much? at least, it was always amusing for her to see young people blush around Masters, responding to the boy's hand, she extended her own and completed the handshake.

'Did you see Sunless? It wasn't that hard' And so, with the two's hands being in contact, he ordered the shadow spell to begin the heist of Jet's spell.
