"What kind of result would the forging produce?"
Gu You thought for a moment. "For a gun barrel like this, which operates under high temperatures, to be used permanently, it needs self-repairing capability. At the same time, the strength of the metal must also be enhanced. If we go with the third option, I would add two rare metals to it for fusion forging, then upgrade it to the level of spirit forging. That way, even without engraving a formation array, it could perform self-repairs on its own. It wouldn't break down from long-term use. Also, it would be capable of having soul tool formations engraved on it later to enhance firepower. Although it's a bit expensive, I think it's worth it. Of course, that depends on whether your ultra-energy rapid-fire cannon is powerful enough to justify the investment."
Upon hearing this, Runi couldn't help but exclaim in surprise, "Fusion forging? Spirit forging? You're a level five blacksmith? No—being able to perform fusion forging means you're at least level six, right?"
Gu You smiled lightly. "I could even try soul forging."
"Soul forging? A Saintsmith?"
Both Runi and Long Yuxue felt like their brains were overheating.
A Saintsmith? There wasn't a single one in the entire Blood God Legion. Across the whole continent, there were only a handful of Saintsmiths—fewer than twenty in total. With how remote the Blood God Legion was, even if the military wanted one, the Saintsmiths themselves wouldn't be willing to come. Who could force them?
So, the highest-level blacksmith in the Blood God Legion was only at level six.
Now Gu You claimed he could attempt soul forging? How could that not be shocking?
"Practice is the only measure of truth. You're welcome to recommend clients. I'm not entirely sure either. Consider my soul forging ability a joke if you'd like."
One thousand merit points for the second method was expensive. Five thousand for the third method—extremely expensive. But if the blacksmith was a Saintsmith? Not expensive at all. Not one bit.
Looking down at the gun barrel in her hand, Runi could hardly believe that it might've just been reforged by a Saintsmith.
It was too astonishing. What was a Saintsmith? A Saint Blacksmith could create the foundational metals for red-grade mechas. A Saint Blacksmith could help construct the base for three-word battle armor.
A Saint Blacksmith stood at the peak of the forging world, holding immense prestige throughout the continent. After all, there was only one Divine Blacksmith on the entire Douluo Continent. And this young man before her, likely not even in his twenties, might very well become the next one.
Seeing Gu You's warm smile, Long Yuxue's heart trembled lightly, and her gaze toward him took on a subtle change.
Runi took a deep breath and carefully put away the gun barrel. Then she tapped a few times on her Blood God Ring. "Thank you. Please accept these merit points."
"Ma'am, I said this one is free."
Runi replied, "That won't do. I'd feel guilty taking such a precious piece of work for free. Besides, I hope to come to you for future commissions. Master Gu, I was rude before. Please don't call me ma'am anymore."
Gu You didn't push it further. She'd given him enough face, and he'd repay the favor in the future.
After sending off the still somewhat reluctant Runi, Long Yuxue closed the door to the forging room and stared intently at Gu You.
Gu You felt a chill run down his back. "Ma'am, what is it?"
Long Yuxue suddenly shouted angrily, "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
"I never said I was a Saintsmith! I just said I could try. Success rate isn't even that high," Gu You wiped a bead of sweat from his brow.
"So you're at least a level six blacksmith, right?"
"Okay, okay, I admit it." Gu You surrendered immediately. Arguing with a woman over something like this wasn't wise.
Long Yuxue suddenly laughed, a look of relief in her eyes, which softened as she gazed at Gu You. "Thanks for letting me take such a big advantage. How about I lower my cut?"
Partnering with a future Saint Blacksmith for a forging workshop—this was like a meat pie falling from the sky and hitting her square in the head. The potential value was unimaginable.
"Sure! How much are you reducing it by?" Gu You asked with a bright grin.
"In your dreams!" Long Yuxue stuck out her tongue, turned, and opened the door. "Gu You, you just work hard for your commanding officer."
"Six…" Gu You shook his head helplessly. "This woman, seriously…"
Long Yuxue nearly ran all the way to the operations command center. As deputy head of Special Ops, she had clearance to enter.
"Reporting!" She pressed the buzzer and called out loudly.
"Come in!" came Long Tianwu's low voice.
The door opened, and Long Yuxue rushed in, brimming with excitement.
"Dad, I have something to tell you!" she said eagerly.
Long Tianwu's face darkened. "This is work time. You should call me 'Commander.'" He was also a bit surprised—his daughter had always been composed. Why was she suddenly so hyper?
Long Yuxue's excitement was instantly doused with cold water. She huffed, "Forget it. Don't listen then. Just don't regret it!"
Long Tianwu blinked, then laughed. "You little rascal. Alright, what is it? Speak."
But Long Yuxue turned away with a haughty tilt of her chin. "Not saying. I'm leaving, Commander." She turned around and made to leave.
Long Tianwu laughed again and stood up. "Alright, alright, my precious daughter. There's no one else here. That was too harsh of me. I apologize."
Only then did Long Yuxue smile. "Dad, I have good news. We struck gold."
"Hmm?" Long Tianwu looked at her, puzzled.
Long Yuxue grinned. "Gu You!"
"Gu You? What about him? Isn't he undergoing special training with you? What 'new discovery' did you find now?" Long Tianwu sighed. 'So girls really do forget their fathers when they grow up…'
Long Yuxue said, "It really is a new discovery. Did you know? He's a blacksmith!"
Long Tianwu responded, "Every soul master who wants to become a battle armor master usually trains in one related skill. That's nothing new. But choosing forging is rare, I'll give you that."
Long Yuxue nodded. "Then guess—what level of blacksmith do you think he is?"
Long Tianwu looked curious. "Seeing how excited you are, I'll bet his forging skill is pretty good. What, is he level five already? Able to spirit forge? At his age, that would be impressive."
Long Yuxue pouted. "You think I get excited that easily? 'Just' spirit forging?"
Long Tianwu chuckled. "'Just' spirit forging? Do you know how hard that is? Wait a minute…"
