Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: Dragon-Blood Transformation

Gu You had just finished cursing Tang Hao when Yuezi instantly sensed the oppressive pressure vanish. She didn't hold back.

Countless black spikes silently emerged from the surrounding space. There was no energy fluctuation to detect—it was like a corrupted world, pitch-black and unreal.

Gu You was pierced through like a twisted skewer, even through the heart.

The space around him began to warp with chaotic fluctuations, but the true pressure from the Heavenly Dao remained, constantly suppressing everything.

Yuezi gave Gu You a long, deep look, then turned to leave.

"Had your fun? My turn!!" A wave of ancient pressure shattered around Gu You. Yuezi had underestimated him—she'd attacked his body instead of his spiritual sea.

Gu You had always wondered how multiple kinds of energy coexisted inside him: Ultimate Ice, Destruction energy, the aura of Extinction, Ultimate Annihilation, and even the Genesis Domain newly born from a sliver of Destruction on his divine wheel. These ever-generating energies shouldn't be able to coexist.

But Gu You had full control over them. How? At this moment, he finally understood—it was his bloodline power! A Dragon God-level bloodline. And along with it, the Dragon God's will was constantly aiding him. The only drawback was that he couldn't control which attribute would be inherited in the next skill; it all depended on his bloodline's automatic adjustment.

Roar!

His blood screamed. A purplish-blue soul ring rose at his feet—it was a blood and qi soul ring!

Dragon Transformation!

As the ring lit up, Gu You's entire body began to mutate. Flesh and blood rapidly regenerated, dragon scales covered his entire body, and even a dragon tail sprouted.

This was a unique transformation mode of dragon-type martial souls, extremely difficult to acquire. Usually, only those with a very high ancient dragon bloodline could unlock it. But there was another way, like the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon martial soul, which could achieve dragon transformation via a special soul beast technique.

"Impossible!" Yuezi waved both hands, launching two black blades of light at Gu You.

Gu You didn't dodge. He used his dragon claws to pull out the black spike lodged in his chest.

Rip! Squeak!

The spike was yanked out. Gu You pointed with his dragon claw.

Silence!

The black light blades instantly disintegrated. Gu You swiftly pulled out all the remaining black spikes from his body. Though his flesh was full of holes, his terrifying regeneration even restored muscle and bone.

Gu You hadn't expected that the Lord of the Plane would act against him. Was it because of the Dragon God aura on him? Or the divine wheel? Most likely, the Lord of the Plane had realized that he didn't belong to the Douluo Plane.

For Tang Hao, suppressing soul beasts was easy. But suppressing humans? That required him to act directly. For example:

The Thunder Abyss Vine, a plant-type soul beast with extremely high talent, had been noticed by the old man Tang Hao. Soul beasts were easy to suppress—with just a beam of light from the will.

But Gu You wasn't entirely sure if Tang Hao had been the Plane Lord back then. Now, he was certain. And since Tang Hao had targeted him, then his grandson shouldn't expect mercy either. Once Gu You reached the East Sea, he'd deal with Tang Wulin properly.

Fight!

Battle intent surged from Gu You as he charged toward Yuezi.

Evil God True Form!

Yuezi's eyes narrowed. A hint of divine power surged out, sending Gu You flying.

"That really is divine power!" Gu You was shocked. 'So this sacrificial method can really create a god?'

His dragon claws danced. A dragon's roar shook the heavens. The space shattered behind it. The vast force of annihilation gathered, so strong it even backfired on Gu You himself.

Clutching his right arm, he raised it slightly and pointed.

A faint beam of purple light shot toward Yuezi. It looked weak, but once it touched anything, all would collapse.

Yuezi instantly sensed the power within. Her expression changed dramatically. Just as she was about to teleport away, she realized—space and time around her had been sealed.

'Who did this?!'

It couldn't have been the surviving generals or the Soul Douluos—they didn't have the ability to seal space.

"Kid! Run! Daddy's giving her a special gift!!" Jiang Xing shouted, launching a missile filled with the aura of destruction toward Yuezi.

Seeing this, Gu You's expression shifted. 'That missile isn't right… the energy is terrifying.' He had to retreat to a safe distance.

But if he did, Yuezi would also escape. Gu You made up his mind. "Today's cause, tomorrow's effect. World! I return this to you!!"

He rushed at Yuezi, and while she was still stunned, he grabbed her limbs and used all his strength to hold her in place.

"Are you insane?!" Jiang Xing stared, dumbfounded at Gu You's actions.

'I'm not even as brave as a child,' he mocked himself. He could have sacrificed his life to seriously injure Yuezi—but he was scared. And yet, he wasn't scared. After all, from the moment he launched that Level-8 fixed-installation destruction-grade soul-guided missile, he had been ready to die.

"Let go! Do you have a death wish? We can negotiate! I'll even honor the contract! Dying with me—do you really think it's worth it?" Yuezi struggled.

"Dying with you? Of course not. But… what am I worth to this world? And besides, I don't think I'll die here today." Gu You spoke calmly, peacefully.

"Madman! You're all a bunch of madmen!!" Yuezi broke down.

The missile struck. The beam of destruction hit…

A rising fireball consumed the land. Everything was obliterated. All life vanished. Waves of destruction surged outward, fearless and thunderous. A tragic elegy rang in the air. The snowfields melted. Water evaporated. It became a desert. No longer glorious.

A cloud of fire soared a thousand meters high...

"What… what have I done?" Jiang Xing silently stared at his hands. He turned blankly, shocked. "Gen… General!"

Qiong Shiyu nodded slightly, his expression grim. "I'll deal with you later. Ordering others recklessly without understanding the enemy? How many died? How many could've lived to wear the honor of a soldier—but didn't?"

"I was wrong!" Tears rolled down Jiang Xing's aged face as he knelt.

"You… stand up! What good is being wrong now? They're dead. Not even bodies left. Why did they follow you? Because you were their superior. Soldiers follow orders! Now you're crying? Will they rest in peace beneath the yellow springs? Will they be at peace watching you like this? Return and accept punishment—this isn't over yet!" Qiong Shiyu shouted in fury.

"Yes!" Jiang Xing stood tall. No matter how heavy the punishment, he would accept it.

Amid the fiery clouds, a faint purple light shimmered. Qiong Shiyu's eyes showed a trace of surprise, then dimmed. "Is this trial… too risky?" He looked skyward and murmured to the air.

'Am I dead now? Looks like they were right. I really feel… nothing.' The air was scorching, but a sudden chill swept in.

"You died? This king does not approve!"
