Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Darkgolden Terrorclaw Bear Right Arm Bone

"I know, I know!" Gu You released his martial spirit and charged deep into the forest.

With an Extreme Douluo watching over him, he might as well fight to his heart's content.

"This kid…" Leng Yaozhu shook her head helplessly. Too reckless — he really acted like a child sometimes.

As he ran, Gu You leaped forward. Empowered by his martial spirit, he used his dragon claws to propel himself to the top of a massive ancient tree.

And what a sight awaited him — a boundless green ocean stretched in every direction. Waves of treetops rippled endlessly, the sky was clear, and the vast canopy radiated an indescribable sense of life. It felt as though this world brimmed with infinite vitality.

'This is incredible… the virtual reality tech here is a thousand years ahead of my previous world.'

Peering carefully, Gu You spotted a dozen or so hundred-year Vajra baboons playing among the treetops in the distance.

"I'll start with you lot."

In an instant, he shot forward. Purple dragon scales covered both of his arms completely.

The Vajra baboons noticed him too, snarling aggressively, trying to intimidate him into backing off.

But what met them was a low, resonant dragon's roar — and a pair of dragon claws surging with annihilation and destruction.

One after another, the baboons fell. Gu You was ruthless, shattering their skulls with each strike.

High above, Leng Yaozhu furrowed her brows slightly. His methods were brutal. She had thought, after the whole matter with the Tyrannosaurus soul spirit, that this child was rather kindhearted.

But what Leng Yaozhu didn't know was that, in Gu You's mind, this was just a hyper-realistic game. If it were real life, he'd hold back a lot more.

Moments later, blood soaked the treetops, but soon, the corpses and gore dissolved into shimmering particles, leaving behind only the essence energy for spirit ascension.

Still, Gu You didn't lower his guard. A troop of hundred-year Vajra baboons usually had a leader — something near or at the thousand-year level.

There!

"Purple-Gold Annihilation Strike!" Gu You let out a cold laugh and unleashed his strike toward the dense thicket behind him. A furious roar erupted in response.

As the smoke cleared, a massive white-furred Vajra baboon, nearly three meters tall, stepped into view.

'Not quite a thousand-year beast…' Gu You exhaled in relief, though this one was close — and it looked mutated too. No telling what kind of mutation.

Meanwhile, Leng Yaozhu remained silent in the sky. She had no intention of stepping in unless absolutely necessary. After all, entering a junior Ascension Platform was already bending the rules; only Soul Elders and below were allowed. If she interfered, it would break protocol, and the resulting public outcry could crush her — though she wasn't particularly afraid of that. What worried her was that if she bent the rules once, others would start using it as precedent.

Still, a faint smile tugged at the corner of her mouth. She wanted to see how much this "picked-up disciple" could achieve in real combat. She was certain: Gu You's talent was at least on par with Yun Ming's at that age, maybe even stronger.

The clash between Gu You and the white-furred Vajra baboon raged on. Purple dragon claws clashed hard against iron fists.

Outside the Ascension Platform, the monitoring staff stared, jaws hanging open.

"Is this kid a human-shaped beast? No wonder the Vice Tower Master took him in — he's pure talent."

Inside, Gu You was already cursing under his breath.

'Leng Yaozhu, why aren't you helping? Are you just here for decoration?!'

He was reaching his limit. His earlier Purple-Gold Annihilation Strike had nearly drained him dry.

'Damn it… fine, let's go all in!'

He launched another Purple-Gold Annihilation Strike with his left hand. His face turned deathly pale, but he didn't stop.

With his right hand, he poured all his remaining soul power — the annihilation and destruction essence of his martial spirit — into one final, desperate combination. Dragon phantom, dragon claw, both unleashed together.

ROAR!

With a final, furious, unwilling bellow, the white-furred Vajra baboon collapsed, transforming into shimmering white light that scattered into the air.

It left behind a small trove of spirit ascension energy — enough to make Gu You beam with delight. Ignoring Leng Yaozhu entirely, he sat down cross-legged and began absorbing the energy right away.

As the endless energy flooded his body, Gu You felt a strange, wonderful sensation spreading through him.

Soul rings enhanced every aspect of the body. A ten-year ring was already a big boost — a hundred-year ring was even more so.

But before Gu You could fully recover, a deafening roar thundered through the Star Dou Forest.

Leng Yaozhu's eyes shot wide open as she looked down from above.

"How… how is this possible? A hundred-year Darkgolden Terrorclaw Bear?!"

Even though it was just a hundred-year beast, the Darkgolden Terrorclaw Bear's sheer strength, combined with its razor-sharp claws and armor-like hide, made it comparable to a thousand-year beast.

"How did they let that thing spawn?!" The monitoring staff outside the platform were dumbfounded. This particular bear had been created by combining a Terrorclaw Bear right arm bone with special energy. It was considered a minor boss — defeating it would reward a spirit bone.

Leng Yaozhu was on full alert now. She and Gu You both had red emergency rings on their arms — pressing them would instantly exit the platform. But honestly, they were almost useless. Against powerful soul beasts, your reaction time simply couldn't beat the moment they lunged. Even though the special Ascension Platform setup reduced pain perception by seventy percent, the mental trauma could still be severe. If someone couldn't handle it, they might end up comatose.

Everyone was shocked — not to mention Gu You, who was already bolting in the opposite direction. But when he realized the Terrorclaw Bear was about to catch up, he gritted his teeth.

'Fight it is! What's there to be scared of?! It's not like I'll actually die.'

Even though his recovered soul power was minimal, he could still pull off one more Purple-Gold Annihilation Strike.

"Activate martial spirit!"

Purple scales once again covered his arms, and a surge of overwhelming power erupted with a mighty dragon's roar that echoed through the Star Dou Forest.

Even the Darkgolden Terrorclaw Bear hesitated slightly. A flicker of fear passed through its eyes — but ultimately, it charged, raising its massive claws.

Gu You dodged, then slashed his dragon claws into the bear's back.

THUD!

Gu You staggered backward, clutching his aching arm in pain.

'It's too damn tough… and it has natural counterattack armor. I can't hit its belly. This is a dead-end…'

Then, as if a lightbulb went off, Gu You smirked up at the sky.

"What is that kid planning?" Leng Yaozhu's heart tensed.

Gu You relaxed his body completely.

'Alright, time to gamble.'

He forced out every last ounce of his strength, pouring it all into his twin dragon claws. The air around him seemed to freeze as annihilation and destruction surged outward. The bear didn't care — it roared, mouth wide, claws raised, and barreled straight at Gu You.

Just as it was about to smash his head into paste — and just as Leng Yaozhu prepared to intervene —

"Purple… Gold… Annihilation… STRIKE!"

With a fierce dragon's roar and Gu You's own bellow, twin dragon claws unleashed a dragon phantom that shot straight into the bear's gaping maw.

The reversal was too fast. An overwhelming explosion rocked the bear from the inside, tearing it apart from within.

No one had expected Gu You to go this insane.

A beam of black light shot skyward, drawing the attention of countless soul masters inside the Ascension Platform — it signaled the defeat of a minor boss, and the reward was a spirit bone.

Gu You's hands trembled, purple-red blood trickling from the joints of his dragon-scaled claws. But as if he felt no pain, he reached out toward the glowing golden prize left behind: the right arm bone of the Darkgolden Terrorclaw Bear.
