Chapter 8 - Chapter 8- The living spring guild

Kishio exhaled deeply as he got home, today's event slowly playing out in his mind, it had been everything but what he expected.

He turned his head to look at Yue who seemed overly eager to show her mum the day's yield with her brother, he smiled warmly, it was definitely worth it.

If he could continue to make the family a happy one, it would at least make him feel like he hadn't entirely broken his promise, unknowing to Kishio he had already begun subconsciously taking the family in more…accepting them as his own.

Memories of hardships with his family in his past life washed through his mind, flashing past his eyes, he clenched his fist tightly, he had strength now, he wouldn't let it all repeat itself.

Kishio walked into his room, he planned on researching the guild in the area nearby to pick one, he after all had to join a guild eventually, and he planned on doing before the next six days, and before that…he would just love to spend some more time with Yue and Yanran, of course while also getting a better grasp of his powers.

Thinking back to earlier, when death aura consumed the bodies of the bugs, he obtained a new skill 'necromancy', he had tried asking Uragami what it was about, but of course as usual received no response.

Concerning matters though were the new writings that appeared just below his hand on his wrist along with the appearance of the skill.

'E rank boom bugs 76, D rank boom bugs 200' he read the writings internally, it felt to him like he had control over so many boom bugs, like it was just another part of his body, but he knew it wasn't that easy, at least his feelings could be deceiving or wrong.

Kishio waved his hand and a familiar bug appeared in front of him, it was the same type as the one he had killed in the first level, he tried communicating with it and found out it was just like how he had felt, even better, controlling the bug was simpler than he expected.

It was just like controlling a part of his body, no it was even easier, like the brain performed some functions without needing to think about it, like breathing for example, no one needs to think about how to, it just happens.

The one thing he couldn't determine though was its combat capabilities, Kishio unsummoned the bug when he got bored of it, he would have to wait till he could access a dungeon.

The next six days passed by quite quickly, Kishio spent it learning more about the world, he also spent some time with Yue and even followed Yanran out to work once, it was like he could lead a normal life now, but he knew it was going to be short-lived.

Kishio stood in front of a large green building, he looked at the name hung up in large texts 'Living spring guild', it was none other than the guild he had decided on signing up under.

The higher a guild the more competitive it was and the more resources it possessed, lower guilds were usually looked down on, for Kishio though, as long as he could earn enough from the guild for sustenance without having to fight over who gets to clear a dungeon, he was fine.

One of the reasons he had picked the guild though was he had apparently found out that the guild was originally a S-ranked guild with multiple clans under it, but for some reasons it had fallen so much it was now deemed C-ranked, he had also heard the guild possessed a hunting ground under their possession, although it was all old news and it didn't have much credibility now as the guild was no longer famous, he was willing to sign up for his reasons.

Hunting grounds were different from normal dungeons, they are more dangerous, if a dungeon could be considered pitting a deer against a lion, a hunting ground could be considered pitting the same deer against a pack of lions.

Most hunting grounds were formed by too many dungeons appearing and exploding in one area, a barrier would have to be set up in the perimeters to prevent harm from befalling the citizens.

While natural hunting grounds were even more unique as the beasts there appeared without the presence of a dungeon and they were usually restricted to the area, never leaving the area they spawn. Rumors say there are treasures in such grounds, but no one has been able to confirm such.

"What would you like to do?" As soon as Kishio walked in, he saw a young woman dressed in a short green gown, it was long sleeved, but the sleeves were covered by a green net-like material, the same material covered her legs.

Her eyes a light shade of sparkling yellow and her long blonde hair done in a ponytail, in all she was a light-skinned beauty with a revealing outfit.

"I want to sign up under this guild." Kishio replied going straight to his purpose, she was a beautiful young woman, but it felt to him like she was just another random person that he couldn't care about.

On hearing his words, the set of documents in her hands fell to the ground as a look of surprise appeared on her face.

"Sorry," She apologized her tone lighter as she picked up the documents and straightened her demeanor, "follow me"

Kishio followed the young woman, the interior of the building was surprisingly very large. If he hadn't known, he would have thought he had stepped into some kind of city hall or something.

"The thing is…no one has come up with the proposition to sign up to our guild in a long time…" the young lady suddenly spoke as she led the way. "Our condition has only been getting worse, like the ray of light is getting further from us…" she muttered loudly, her voice getting thinner as she spoke the harsh truth of reality.

"Mmmm" Kishio said, he had read up about the clan and he knew it was actually a very successful one, but all the information he saw said nothing about how they had been reduced to this state. It was like whatever had caused it had erased all traces "And why is that?" He asked genuinely curious.

A guild and a clan were similar, but with minor differences.

A guild for one is an organization, one with a wide network array, smaller units or clans often signed up under guilds under a kind of pact, as the guilds had a larger source for information gathering, it made acquiring information about spawned dungeons for instance easy in which the guild assigned as quests or tasks to clans.

The number of potent clans under a guild also contributes to the strength of the guild making acquiring higher class dungeons easier too.

While as for clans, they were just independent groups mostly created for the purpose of clearing dungeons.

It was like a gang, members of a clan gained protection from their clans while they all worked together clearing dungeons, while some clans grew strong enough to rival guilds like the lifeless, they often didn't have as much connections as guilds.

"The lifeless clan…" Kishio heard the lady say, a hint of fright and anger dripping in her words, he could hear it…he could feel it.

"The lifeless clan made an offer to our guild master, but it led to a fall out after disagreements on both side, we weren't willing to comply, and they weren't willing to be defied" she explained slowly "As a result, the lifeless clan used their power and position to suppress us while also taking away many of the prominent clans under us".

Kishio took a deep breath in before letting it out, it sounded heavy, he shouldn't care about what was going on, but he was going to sign up under the clan either way, so he was already involved.

"Lola, who's that?" Kishio heard a voice call out in their direction, he turned to see another figure approaching, the figure looked very much alike to the one taking him somewhere.

"Soma, you're here" the girl walking with Kishio, referred to as Lola, suddenly said, she looked excited, and sounded excited, but one could tell her tone lacked the feeling of excitement.

"It's a new member, he wants to join the guild" Lola still answered the question that was posed to her.
