Chapter 158 - Chapter 158: Nox's Salvation!

Nox's POV:

I have suffered.

It's has been over a decade since I first felt the weight of this burden I had unfairly been given by my asshole ancestors. But as the time for my curse to be finally lifted grows ever closer I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

As for the curse in question, it is rather obvious don't you think?

"1 INCH!!! I'VE GROWN ONE ENTIRE INCH IN ONE WEEK!!!"

It is of course my height.

When I was little, I was always looked down upon by others for being a child. Despite being more mature than most of the adults around me, my opinions and suggestions were often ignored on account of my small stature. That is why I felt ecstatic upon analyzing my own DNA during my studies of genetics. My estimated height as a fully grown adult would be around 1.8 meters tall. That's bigger than the average adult male, meaning I would finally be the one to look down on all those shitheads who called me short.

Unfortunately, there was a huge problem. At around the age of 10, my growth was stunted completely. Apparently, there was a certain gene inside my genetic code that completely halts my growth temporarily before giving me a massive growth spurt years later.

Understandably pissed that I had to wait so long, I started looking for alternatives to increase my height. I first tried drugs to enhance my growth, but I had built up an immunity towards all the growth enhancing drugs and diseases I just so happen to have acquired over the years. Then I tried to put pins in my shattered legs to try and force my bones to grow larger, but my life-support magic and aura would destroy the pins and pull the bones together in under a day making my efforts in vain. Then I tried gene manipulation, but it proved problematic.

Setting aside all the cancer I accidentally unleashed upon myself from my lack of knowledge of the exact code I should and shouldn't have replaced it with, I had unfortunately engraved my original genetic code into my soul as a default setting for my aura-based healing-factor. At the time, I was basically using my aura as life-support due to all my injuries which were causing major organ failures. Because of this, if I ever lost focus while preventing my heart from stopping or my lungs from popping, the automatic healing protocol I had installed in my subconscious would kick in and undo any genetic alterations I had made to my body, rendering my efforts almost meaningless, showing little growth even after years of attempting this.

I nearly lost all hope, but then it happened. I gained the power of spirit magic. With it, I can repair, alter and/or outright change my body's genes, mass, age, gender, and everything else with just some of the knowledge I have accumulated from my biological and magical studies.

However, it would seem I had once again made a fatal error in my thinking. Apparently, my subconscious is not happy about my alterations to my body and so, whenever I'm not looking, my body will slowly revert to its original self over time. That meant I would have to reapply my body modifications after certain periods or the magical make-up I was using would come off.

If you're wondering why I don't just reprogram my subconscious to use an altered genetic code instead of the original, it is simply because I am too perfect for my own good. I had put so much effort into burning the genetic code into my mind that by the time it would take to finish any changes, I would have hit my growth spurt years prior. To think, even my own genius would be used against me, such a cruel fate I have been dealt by that salty bastard.

Anyways, I am soon turning 16 and that means this genetic curse from my bloodline of midgets has finally been lifted and I can finally start growing into my true self. The shmexy and tall beauty that I was always meant to be.

"Suck on that you old farts! Next time we meet, you'll be the shorty-pants! HAHAHAHAHA!!!" I laughed out loud as the townsfolk were giving me strange looks of what I could only assume was jealousy of this great and soon to be tall lady's growth spurt.

Speaking of growth, I wonder how my Wimp is doing on her homework.

"Maybe I'll pay her a visit after I deal with the stranger bleeding out in my cave!" I muttered to myself as I entered my secret base outside of town.
