Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: It Seemed Fun! So, Let's Become A Teacher!

In the reception hall of the 'Shiro Magic Academy'. A certain gender swapped mage was filling out a forum, while thinking back on today's events.

After escaping a horde of giggling girls. Nox had decided to lay low in a local magic academy while recovering from her, now his, injuries. Unfortunately, the guards did not take well to the mob of girls that formed at the gates as soon as he ended his concealment to ask for directions. The disturbance attracted the attention of the faculty, some of which actually joined in until a professor with some common sense dispersed the crowd and asked the guards to shoo him away without a word.

"SCRAM! YOU LECHEROUS BASTARD! IF I EVER SEE YOUR FACE HERE AGAIN! I'LL SMASH THAT STUPID FACE OF YOURS!"

Apparently, the male guard who threw him out, seemed jealous of his looks as he threatened him to never return. While reconsidering his options he happened to notice a flyer pinned to the academy wall. It read:

Temporary teacher wanted. If interested, please follow these directions to the application area and fill out a forum.

Duration: 6 months.

Requirements:

Knowledge of basic magic theory.

___

The paper came complete with a map showing where to go. Soon after arriving at the reception desk, Nox had to repeatedly explain to the dazed receptionist that he was there to apply as a teacher and not a student, as most teachers there were at least in their thirties. There is no specified age limitation for student applicants, most tend to be in their mid to late teens, which is why most would assume the young man who looked to be in his early twenties at the most, to be applying to be a student rather than a teacher.

Skipping ahead.

He wasn't able to decide on what age to write because of the disparity between his current appearance and his actual age. Hence, after scribbling out a variety of numbers, he settled for writing 'unknown'. This was the most time-consuming part of the forum, as he quickly filled out the rest without a second thought. After filling out the forum he handed it to the receptionist who kept staring dazedly at him as he walked out the door.

An unspecified time later.

My name is Kyle Lichtenstein, and as my foreign name would suggest I am not originally from this continent. I was born on the magic continent, but my parents moved to the 1st Martial Continent back when I was just a child. We were a family of mages, which aren't that common outside the magic continent. So, when I grew up, I decided to follow in my parents' footsteps and become a mage. I studied as hard as I could to make them proud. Fortunately, I happened to have a talent for it, as my elemental affinity was above average. After many long years, I eventually was recognized by an arch mage who offered me a high position at a local magic academy as a vice principal. At first, I thought it would be a great opportunity to get close to a powerful and distinguished master, but...

The academy was drastically understaffed, and the arch mage principal is rarely present. Leaving me and my problematic fellow vice principal under a mountain of paperwork. And if you are wondering why I say he is problematic.

"WHAT'S UP WITH THIS GUY! HAS HE NO HUMILITY?"

He just can't control his temper. He has no patience and openly discriminates against problematic students, to an almost murderous degree. He can't take being slighted by either the students or even the rest of the staff. I've lost count of how many times I hired someone to lighten the load, just for him to fire them the next day. He seems to treat his job like a game of politics, as he only hired incompetent nincompoops that just so happen to share his ideology rather than their actual qualifications. All this results in even more paperwork for me. That's why I forced us to share an office so I could babysit this moron of a mage.

We are currently going through the most recent applications for one of the many open positions we currently have. I could hear my coworker screaming, which usually means he found someone he didn't like. I moved to stop him from outright rejecting the applicant before I could take a look.

"HEY! GIVE THAT BACK!"

I unceremoniously grabbed the piece of paper off his desk before he could stamp it, resulting in another rejected stamp on his desk.

The applicant this time seemed rather odd. He had applied for nearly every subject with some rather overconfident and in some cases absurd claims. Like where he wrote he could teach all languages. As great as it would have been to only teach magic at this academy, it's important that a mage gains some knowledge of the world around them, hence why we also have classes unrelated to magic, like general history and language. That said most applicants rarely have more than 1 subject outside of magic they can confidently teach. He also seemed to have some problems deciding his age as he had scribbled over his answer a number of times before admitting he doesn't know. It isn't too uncommon for some people not to know their exact age. Since magic is a rather unpopular profession compared to becoming a cultivator, many mages started out as young orphans taken in or in some rare cases kidnapped by wandering mages. That even applies to some of the students here, as many wizards and witches can't be bothered to teach their disciples the basics themselves. If he is not lying or exaggerating his skill level, then he is obviously overqualified for a simple teacher's position, as most teachers here are stuck in the 3rd tier or below. If he gained some experience he could even qualify as a third vice principal. I would bet this month's salary that is the reason why this hysterical fool really wants to reject this guy.

"STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT AND HAND OVER THAT PAPER!"

No way am I letting this guy screw me over again. If I don't get some help soon, I won't be able to clock out until next semester. With a desperate hope for the future, I accepted the application forum and placed it in the spatial transfer box before that idiot could pry it from my hands.

"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE! THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR FOR A VICE PRINCIPAL! WAS NOT THE WHOLE POINT OF SHARING AN OFFICE SPACE TO DISCUSSE SUCH MATTERS BEFORE MAKING A DESCISION!"

"YES! AND I DECIDED WE NEEDED SOME HELP WITH ALL THIS PAPERWORK!"

"ARE YOU MAD!? YOU WOULD LET AN INCOMPETENT MAN LIKE THAT TO RUIN THE PRESTIGE OF THIS GREAT ESTABLISHMENT!"

And so, the shouting match began.
