Cora's delicate, fair face lit up with excitement.
"Really? Daddy can sleep with us tonight, right?"
"No!" Rachel's face flushed red, her heart pounding wildly. She didn't even bother coming up with an excuse, she just flat-out refused.
"Why not, Mommy?" Cora pouted, looking even more aggrieved. "I just want to sleep with Daddy and Mommy."
Cora's perfect little features scrunched into a knot, her clear and bright eyes glistening with tears that were about to fall.
"Well... President Elliott won't be able to sleep, and it'll affect his work tomorrow…" Rachel said slowly, wiping the tears from Cora's eyes with her slender fingers.
Even though it was the truth, seeing Cora's watery eyes made Rachel's heart ache even more.
Kellan glanced at the tears gathered in the corners of Cora's eyes. His thin lips pressed together, and something soft flickered in his pitch-black, deep eyes.
