The call from our head of security comes at 2:47 AM, three hours after I've finally convinced myself that Isabella is safe, that our baby is stable, that we can actually get some rest at the private medical facility where she's recovering from Elena's psychological assault.
"Sir, we have a problem." James Morrison's voice carries the kind of controlled urgency that makes my blood run cold. "You need to see this immediately."
"What kind of problem?" I ask, already moving to the suite's office space so I don't wake Isabella.
"The kind that requires your immediate attention at headquarters. And sir? Come alone."
The tone in his voice, careful, almost fearful, tells me everything I need to know. This isn't about external threats or Consortium attacks. This is about internal security, about the possibility that our most trusted inner circle has been compromised.
